Well I kno to be in the credits you must be in at least 13 epis. thats how Erica got to be on this one. Remember season 1 Lionel was not because he wasn't going to be ongoing character. It probably won't change until next year. And this was the 13 episode. Plus I assume John's contract had to be thru the end of the season at least...the guy was called only a few weeks before to let him kno it would be him to move on...I'm glad to still see him on the credits ...would be too sad if they just snatched him out..but I was looking for like an RIP sign lol

I dont see the point in keeping him in the credits though if he is gone for good now it will just make people think he is coming back and will confuse many people too. I honestly would rather them take him out or I will always expect him to be in an episode too.

I think someone said recently that he'll stay in the credits till the season is over.

maybe they'll keep him to do some sort of flashbacks, maybe when clark thinks about his father.

That's what I was thinking rogue. There is always a way to involve someone in future episodes including someone who has passed away.
I would like to see him stay in the credits somehow but I know that will not happen if Smallville extends beyond this season.

I think Rogue is right they might want to keep JS in the credits since they might start using him in flashbacks. When Clark maybe is on the edge of going too far. He has a flashback to a talk or something that happened with his Dad and that stops him from going too far.
Since they will need more scenes to match the flashback scene they will most likely film more scenes with Johnathan and Clark.

No, it is because he has a contract with the WB to be in the credits for the whole season. He gets paid each time his name/pic appears. It has been covered before
