I don't know if anyone mentioned this, and correct me if im wrong---but did anyone else see John Schneider in the opening credits? Or are my glasses messed up (i gotta get ACUVUE, lol)? i thought since johnathan was dead, wouldn't he be removed from the credits like Jason and chloe(for an episode)?

When Pete left the show, I think he was still in the credits for the rest of the season. I could be wrong.

I believe your right LoisnLana. They will probably leave his credits for the rest of the season.

Well I think they'll have him in the credits until the end of the season. It would be hard (as an avid JS/JK lover) to watch next week and he not be in the opening credits of the show. He's sorely missed.

Thats true, maybe they will, although pete just left but didn't die.

Well he technically had some new footage this week (video) so they might have left him in for this week. If during the first episode without new JK footage airs with him still in the credits then you know he'll be there through May.

He'll be gone next week. He was still in this episode.
They wont keep him in for 9 more episodes. :P

It will be so painful to see him in the credits for the next 9 episodes....
Try watching him in reruns on ABC family! It's torture!!!

He was only there because of his appeareance in the video(His intro thing was much shorter). He'll probably be gone next episode.

Actually they are contractually obligated to keep JS in the opening credits until the very end of the season.

Yeah, or else he'd just be another number of death in Smallville. I hope not only will they keep his opening credits as a reminder, but also have the characters remember him throughout the whole series (but not alway sappy dramatic, and time consuming). Good ol' JS/JK.

Really? I thought they just had to pay him for the rest of the season.

To be honest, JK has had much more impact on the show than jason, pete or Whitney.
I think it's a nice touch to keep him there this series, especially has he is gonna be the only person in smallville to pass on and be missed by his friends and ffamily.

Actually its or else JS could file a lawsuit against Gough/Millar Ink.

They went to the work of making the new intro, so I think it'll stick the whole season. I mean, who would you actually put in his place on the credits? James Marshters? Even if they wanted to, I can't see the sense in it until Hypnotic.

Yes, its part of his contract and its standard for all the actors involved. They have to keep his face and name in the opening credits for the rest of season five regardless if he appears in the episodes or not. After the season's over they can then remove him and redo the opening credits sans him.

Interesting. Can I ask how you found this out, btw?
I have to admit I'm kind of skeptical because it's not even standard for all shows to even show actors in opening credits (for example: Lost, Supernatural). What would happen in the WB executives decided they'd rather see Smallville with a shorter credit sequence and the star's names over the beginning of Act I? Not that they'd actually do that ...
It's just kind of weird that someone would even want their character to be in the credits after being killed off--being in them but never appearing on the show makes you look worse than just being gone from the show entirely.

I have a couple of friends in the biz but besides that you can find general information regarding these kinds of things on the net.

Its too late for them to change it now. These type of things are decided before the show goes to aire. Some shows do credits a la Smallville with opening headshots and others do it like Lost with merely the cast names listed over the shows opening scenes. But either way how the credits will role is decided before the show goes to aire and is also specified in said actors contract.

Not nessessarilly, its considered a perk or fringe benefit if you will because even if the actor doesn't appear in the episode their name still gets exposure and besides its always temporary, JS will only be in the opening credits for the rest of season five and then he will be removed. Both JG and ED only appear in half the episodes for the season and yet they both get opening head shots.

It will be for the rest of season five. But JS would be within his legal right to file a lawsuit if they did remove him from the credits. I know it won't be an issue because they are going to keep JS in the opening credits for the rest of the season regardless of the fact that his character was killed.

i tnik its as a kind of remark of respect to the character to keep them in the credits until the end of the season. Pete left in the penultimate episode to a season and it wasnt as definitive as JK's exit so im not sure bout his "post-humous" stay in the credits

Hmmm. All the information I've found says otherwise (particularly in what past shows like Buffy, Alias, Lost, etc. have done with killed off/booted characters--taken them out of the credits), but I suppose we'll find out next week. No use arguing about it until then. Nobody really knows what's in the SV contracts, anyway. Contracts vary from show to show--no point in generalizing them.

he will be in the credits till they change the credits. he is still counted as a cast member even if he isnt in it like other episodes when certian people are not in them they are still in the credits. i think he will stay until the end of the season or atleast until they replace him.

As a tribute to his character they should leave him in for the rest of this season and cut it out next season.
