I was slightly surprised about how close Lana and Clark seemed at the end of this episode. I know JK's death brings them closer in a way... but I was still surprised.

Not me, not at all..
Lana and Clark are still very close. Their relationship maybe on hiatus, temporarily or permanently, but that won't change that they still care very much about each other.

Yea they may not be together and this may be it for them, intimately(hopefully not), but they will always remain close, no matter how much things change in the show... Or at least thats what I think.

Well, I think they were pretty close at the end of the episode. Because of the fact, Lana knows how Clark's feels. Since she lost her parents in the Meteor shower.

They'll realize that they cant be together and just remain really close friends. Not that anyone cares, but my ex and I realized that we couldnt be together as a couple. We are still really close friends. So i guess its possible thats the path that TPTB are going down.

I think that they will part on fairly good terms. However, im wondering how their going to do do both Lexana and Lex's descent to evil.

I thought Lana was distant. Didn't get that vibe at all. This must be Clana wishful thinking.

I'm not exactly a clana shipper and I sure thought she was right on target with all her approaches to Clark. Even when he was blowing her off at the house early in the episode you could see that she was making a constant effort to bend and yield to allow him to just work through what he had to.
And finding the watch was probably the most sentimental thing she has ever done for him. Ranks right up there with his giving her the "drivew in" movie for her birthday to me.

It can be taken as just being friends too and Lana's way of repaying Clark for the many times he has saved her or done nice things for him. She knew he was tore up about losing the watch and getting it back would help him heal over the lost of his Dad.

Exactly, she wasn't hung up on secrets or bedding him again just being his friend and being there for him. Including knowing just how much the watch gesture would mean. She was a caring person instead of the selfish young lady she is often written to be. I hope we see more of this Lana and less to none of the other.

I don't think they're exactly broken up all the way, and I don't think they're still all the way together. Lana is just being there for him in his 'time of need', and we all know that both of them still have feelings for each other. I think they're going to get back together and Clark is going to tell lana his secret for real this time and everything will be all flowers and candy and Clana will love happily ever after. And that was a really long sentence.

Why would Jonathan's death bring them closer? Because it gives Lana a chance to whine some more about her parents dying? SHe can't possibly remember what it was like when they dies because she was three years old!
And they are most definitely broken up. Lana yelled at Clark and said it was over and stormed out last week. SHe went running to Lex. She is not at all close to Clark and her pretending to be and getting the watch was not in character and seemed shoehorned in. I expected it to be the Vigilante who returned it as a way of apology for using Clark and hurting him with the K. It would actually have made more dramatic sense if Clark had found it himself anyway.
Remember, this is the girl who left Clark at the graveyard (close-up scene of her hand pulling away from Clarks-remember?), Lana not even willing to stay with him at this awful time. But that's okay because I've had enough of retcon wonderful Lana the all-accepting anyway.

I'm kinda new to Smallville and the forum can you tell me what episode Clark gave Lana a "drive-in movie" for her birthday?
What or who is MB and TPTB?
Thanks>

Dare I Mention Superman movie #3 (I think), where Clark goes back to Smallville to sell the farm and he meets up with Lana. They seem like good friends in that movie. I'm guessing they will have their ups and downs, but will manage to work out a friendchip.

It was refreshing to see Lana protrayed in a giving way. They have too much history for her not to be there for Clark. Since Lexana is coming I hope these types of scenes are used to show there is still a deep friendship. I was not suprised by the Lana's portrayal of caring but by the fact that the writers included it in the show considering how badly she has been shown since Splinter.

I think that they are on okay terms as friends, lana just refuses to be more because of Clark's honesty issues...

I don't know which episode, but I think it's in Season 1 and it's my avatar at the moment. MB is Lionel's nickname...can't really type it cuz it contains a swear, but it stands for Magnificent B@$t@rd, and TPTB stands for The Powers That Be, which means the writers, producers, etc on Smallville.

It was Craving. Remember, the FOTW wanted to lose weight for Lana's birthday party.

Good to have Forum whizzes out there to answer what I have been scrambling to remember. The scene stuck in my head because it was so thoughtful, I guess I surpressed the fat sucking connection!

I just wish that Clark and Lana would both get over themselves.

I thought the scene was very appropriate.
Lana still cares about CK and wants to be supportive as he grieves (just as she did for Whitney after she was ready to break up with him), but there's definitely a change.
Look back at that scene, right after he says "I can't believe you found this," he moves forward to give her a hug, which would feel like the natural thing to do.
But her face and body language clearly said, "Let's not go there."
And Clark didn't get angry or frustrated. He knew she was right.
They care for each other. They're friends. And their romantic relationship is over.
The whole scene only exists at all to convey that message.
This whole episode is about the consequences of the events of Reckoning, and one of the major consequences is the breakup of Clana. It would not make sense for TPTB to completely ignore the question of where Clana goes from here.
If they hadn't needed to show the change in CK and Lana's relationship, it would have made far more sense for Batman/Girl/WhateverSheWas to find and return the watch out of gratitude for the lesson she learned.

I agree. If you watch it again, when Clark goes toward Lana to thank her for the watch, Lana backs off and sets off the invisible "back off buddy" shield that all women posess.
