LOL, Martha was attacked in the same place that Lex was shot in Lexmas! When the camera zooms back right before the opening credits roll, you can see the diner that Lex was shot in front of!

It's Suicide Slums

Lex was shot there
Martha was attacked there
Lionel and Morgan Edge came from there

It's like the Bronks of Metropolis

The other parts of Metropolis are shiny but there are parts of a city that are trouble areas too.
