OMG, this episode, made me cry and made me just look upon it in awe. Clark's decision to be good thanks to what his father has taught him, the references to him wanting to help people without having to hide himself, SUPES!. Clark crying in the end was far more emotional then JK death on reckoning and alicia's death, because at that moment he knew he was really gone. this by far was the best episode in my opinion.
I agree. It is way up there on the best episode list along with Memoria and Arrival.
Wow, what a great way to say bye to J.K.

I'm in between...the episode was decent but that was one of the best endings they've ever had.
I really feel like breaking down and crying.

I felt like the episode was a little on the slow side. There were powerful moments. . . Clark's decision not to kill the guy and the final scene with Clark and Martha just after the video of Jonathon. But also the visual of Clark and Lionel just after Clark saved his life (foreshadow anyone?) was a powerful one for other reasons. But the time between the moments was dry for me.

i thought the episode was great. i thought the girls powers were awsome kind of like a batman thing. i like the whole lionel thing when she was about to kill him that was cool and lex blackmailing his dad about the mystery picture or whatever. i think it was good to have this episode it made a bigger emtional impact then last week. i wonder if we will ever get to see the angel agian.

This episode was definately better then the 100th! I thought it made more sense. I was suprised to see "Batwoman" in this. I am anxious to find out what her part will be . I really liked the scene with martha and chloe. Touching. The end was a perfect ending but very heart wrenching to see the tape of JK saying "Goodbye". That part along with clarke holding his mom and both crying ---I was sobbing! :( I am still very upset that Jk will no longer be in this and it just hurt to see him say goodbye. He will be missed! It really was a good ep.

No episode has ever brought me to a positive and negative brink in my emotions like this one has. I was extremely happy for Clark when he got his resolution over his dad's watch, and then I fought hard to hold back tears (even though the welled up) at the end when Jonathan waved goodbye and Clark broke out crying.
Really great episode and I'm liking how they're starting to move forward into the Superman years both with Clark and Lex (who is starting to show the sociopath side by being willing to sacrifice the widowed Martha Kent to a jail sentence for killing Lionel over his company).

Personally, I thought it was in the top few episodes that I have ever seen of Smallville. Was that a Batman theme that I heard during the program?
The writers did a very good job tonight. Is Lionel bad, is Lionel good, you can interpret what he has said and done both ways. Fascinating.
The ending was superior, very sweet to hear and see the video of Jonathan saying 'bye bye', made a tear come to my eye.

That episode had me everywhere.
I hated to whole Angel Of Vengence thing
But I lovd Clark in this episode
And I hate Lionel so much that I love him
And then as always Annette O'Toole rocked
And then I wa sso sad at the end with Jonathan and Clark crying and by gollie I wasnt crying when I watched the episode but now I am.
It was good. Not the best. But definately looking back very pleasing. I give it to TPTB this season the stories are over all enjoyable

it was not the best episode in my opinion but a very good episode. Alot of great and powerful scenes. Also it was a nice way for jonathan to have a better ending/goodbye. Also it was a very sad and emotionally scene at the end. I too will miss JS on the show he was a very good actor and played the role very well. Also this season has overall been much better then some seasons minus a few episodes like the vampire episode. Hope they keep up the good episodes and good story telling.

A good ep except for the freaking commercials! My God!!!!1 How many minutes of interuptions were there????? It was like 5 mintues of the ep and 6 of commercials (followed by on screen blurbs for things I won't watch). It was sickening and only adds to the reason that SV is the only show I watch on "commercial" networks (emphasis on commercial). It's HBO, Encore, Starz, or my DVD!
OK, rant aside, I thought the ep was on the slower side, and yes, I definitely felt a Batman(woman) twist here....and dug it :) I hope we see her again.
As others have stated, though, the most emotional scene? Jonathon's "goodbye" on the video tape and Clark crying. My word, good stuff. I am betting John Schneider does not appear inthe credits again after that, although I'd love to see his name appear on a future ep as "directed by..."
Maybe the vengence in me, but I was pleased to see Andrea waste Snake....he deserved it, no arguments from me. It seemed obvious that MB wouldn't bite it...at least not yet.
I am wondering if anyone timed the actual content, though. Guess I'll watch it again and see just how many minutes of commercials destroyed the ep...probably 25.
OK.....laters.....

In my opinion, this was the 3rd best episode of the season. Aqua was #1, and Arrival was #2.

Aqua? You must be kidding..
Maybe a cool "concept" for an episode, but the actor for Aquaman was about as horrible as my 8 year old cousin.
It was crap!

Memoria is an amazing episode, but not quite as good as people say it is in my opinion.
Vengenance is not the best episode of the show either, but definately at the top of S5. I would say that it is only second to Arrival this season.
Vengenance is definately on my top 25 list though.
In terms of ranking S5 :
1) Arrival - 10/10
2) Vengenance - 10/10
3) Solitude - 9.5/10
4) Splinter - 9.5/10
5) Hidden - 9.5/10
6) Lexmas - 9.5/10
7) Mortal - 9/10
8) Lockdown - 9/10
9) Exposed - 8.5/10
10) Fanatic - 8/10
11) Thirst - 8/10
12) Aqua - 7.5/10
13) Reckoning - Most dissapointing flop in the history of the show

I'd say in the top 10, but out of the top 5 series-wise. I agree as to 2nd best in S5 only to 'Arrival'... :)

Ryan was not that great, but the first installment from S1 "Stray" was awesome. I found Ryan to be a tad slow. Shattered, Run, Transference, and Exile are all on my top ten. Lucas is my favorite guest character so I love Prodigal. Rosetta is an amazing episode too.
I do have to day that I disagree with Bound and Reckoning, and that you are missing some of the best episodes ever - Rogue, Leech, Vortex, Pilot, Insurgence, etc..

This episode was nearly flawless. The Acuview product placement was a bit gimmicky but that's only a minor issue with an otherwise excellent story.
Clark trying to act like a mugger was hilarious, and yes the ending was very moving. I'm also glad to see a return to full force of the power struggle between Lex and Lionel. After #100 was ripped to shreds on here this one should quiet the critics for a bit. Superb job to the writers, actors, and director.

I can't believe how many people think that this episode was great.
It wasn't that great. It had a dumb storyline, and it should have followed up Reckoning better.
Anyone else notice that there wasn't even any snow on thr ground? I hate it when they have big time differences like that, yet Clark was still acting like his dad had died the day before.
The whole Avenging Angel story arc was boring. I have never actually been watching Smallville and thought to myself 'Damn, this is boring as Hell' but tonight I did. Usually I am on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Tonight I was like, 'Is this thing ever going to end?'
Luckily, the last two scenes made up for the crap.

Absolutely was one of the finer episodes. The end was very poignant with Clark accepting his father's death. I am glad that the episodes are tying into one another so much better. Great episode to follow the death of his father. Take care.
Peace To All.
