it seems that Lionel borrowed Lex's book titled "How to be Smooth" He set up future attempts at picking up Martha just perfectly. He even pulled the Seinfeld line out "I'm there for you"

Trust me guys. A man like Lionel saying those lines and creeping around the barn doesn't have game. He's revolting and I don't think Martha's attracted; she's on her guard and she knows that he's as dangerous as inviting a rattlesnake to her bed.

You're thinking from the perspective of a Smallville viewer. You know how bad he really is because you see everything he does. She has no clue about a majority of the stuff that he does. Martha has shown many times before that she's succeptable to his flattering. Now he's gonna kick it into high gear. and believe me... the "I'm there for you" line is gold when used in the perfect situation and he nailed it on the head.

Lionel coming on so strong is creeping me out. I was cringing the entire scene yet I couldn't look away.
