Interesting...
"Thank you, Son." It can be interpreted in a lot of ways, but a lot of the speculation of whether Jor-El is inside Lionel could be ringing true.

Why else did his voice change to the more Jor-Elish voice and why else would he call Clark son and do the whole Clark standing next to him like that

That was a really weird scene, with Lionel calling Clark, son.
I think the WB has a lot in store with us, some relationships - Clark-Lionel, Martha-Chloe, Lexana, Martha-Lionel....

That was creepy when he said "Thank You My SON..."

Metropolis is 3 hours away from Smallville right?
How did Lionel get there so quickly? It makes some sense, but there still needs to be more proof.

Sorry, there is no way they can pull this one from their ass.....Lionel STILL acts like his ruthless self........I find it impossible with the way the storyline has been going that they could throw this one from left field too.
The only loophole that I am VERY perturbed with, is that clark used his powers in front of Lionel...and he acted like it was nothing...

i don't know, the way he looked at him and smiled after he saved him and then said it. and it wasn't shock or nothing, like he knew already, because clark used superspeed and everything.

Look...he's sweet talking Martha...even Jor-El isn't that shallow to hit on his son's adopted mother.

exactly........you can't play the character as lionel one minute, and then say "oh well I was just pretending" ESPECIALLY after he just ******** to Martha about what him and Johnathan was talking about.

What if hes got multiple personality disorder. That Jor-El and Lionel have been permanently fused. Most times he acts as Lionel but whenever he is near Clark Jor-El pops out

A lot of people have been speculating about Jor-El being in Lionel ever since last season when he got that kryptonian knowledge.

Unless there's a much more rationale explanation. What if he's both. Lion-El. Lionel knows all about Clark, because he's a vessel for Jor-El. But there are times, when Jor-El speaks through Lionel and this is Lion-El. Like when he went to Chloe with information on Brainiac. That was Lion-El. When he went to Jonathan, it was Lionel. When Clark rescued him, it was Lion-El. When he went to Martha, well I'm still not sure about that one.

it def seemed like jor-el to me the way he said it and looked at clark. he didnt try to spin it or manipulate clark as per usual. and clark didnt react like it was a big deal when he put his hand on his shoulder and said son, it def seemed jor-elish, it couldnt have been lionel

Agreed. . .it was way to un-Lionel like to be, well, Lionel!
I still think that Jor-el is in Lionel...WHEN have you EVER seen Lionel refer to ANYONE as "son" (exept Lex, but not often)???Especially Clark! Unless he's trying to cozy up to Clark to get to Martha????
Uck. mionel. Even worse? Mionel+Jor-El.

I think he's just trying to be the nice guy and get Martha.

I'm putting my money on Lion-El. Jor-El is still inside him, guiding him at times. Especially tonight. All the Luthor interaction, and Lionel is treating Lex like he's his mortal enemy, and treating Clark like he's his son. He's never treated Clark as anything more than a nuisance until this season, when he started really looking out for the Kent's and for Clark. I'm tellin you, Jor-El is still inhabiting Lionel at times.

I completely agree. When he called Clark son I thought no way is that Lionel. Not only that, but how about Clark's lack of reaction to the comment. No surprise, anger, etc... like it was nothing out of the ordinary. Definately think Jor-El was in there.

I dont think he's JE but I do think that something about him is different ever since Hidden. There's something there imo.

Folks, we are missing one thing...IF Jor-El was in Lionel....WHY not save himself and not rely on Clark?
And how can Jor-El be in Lionel when (as in Reckoning) Jor-El is at the FOS?

Something weird is going on with Lionel. He is ruthless with Lex and everyone else but CK and Martha. He didnt even acknowldge CK super sped to save him. He said "son" but that could just be his normal lingo.
We also hear him say "Im back" to Lex meaning (assuming) Lionel from Season 1/2. Also he seems genuinely good when Martha or CK are in his presence. It may be Jor-El popping in and out or maybe Lionel is truly a MB.

I don't think Lionel is Jor-El.
And at least what I read into how he called Clark 'son', was more of him laying the ground work so to speak, or of trying to get a 'foot in the door' to the Kents lives. I mean Jonathan is gone. The man that really knew what a snake Lionel is. I see Lionel as using their grief to try and get some kind of control there.
But then again, what do I know....:)

this one is going to be hard ..
we all see lionel and associate him with being the MB that he is.. the problem is that since the jor-el episode lionel has been strange or different. something is definatly going on..
if we watch all the contacts that he has had since then its always has been in some way or another to help the kents/clark and hinder lex. lionel knew that lex was investigating clark and jorel would have gotten that knowledge from lionel.
the problem lies in the area that we have preconcieved notions of whats going to happen.. unfortunatly we arnt seeing what lionel is doing in the background.. and thats why its still a mystery.
financially cripple his son.. hold and protect a vital secret of a non-family member who's family has shown they wont cooperate with the luthor schemes .. something is going on.. and it points to jorel being a definate influence on lionel..
personally i think that lionel made an agreement with jorel in order to live through the krypo info . for most of the time he's lionel but he's doing what jorel is telling him to do. and at times he's not lionel but jorel.. so. whats your guess? :)
