I doubt anybody will agree with me on this, but I believe that the decision to kill Jonathan Kent on the show was the STUPIDEST STUPIDEST thing they could have ever done. If you're going to take John Schneider off the show, then why not just cancel the show, cause they've just given it a mortal wound anyway. That's the equivalent of letting the passengers aboard the Titanic steer the ship, or replacing Tom Welling with a lookalike, like the did to John and Tom on "Dukes Of Hazzard". How can they take John off the show and expect it to survive? What were they thinking, besides the fact that they weren't. Stupidity at it's absolute worst.

I'm not happy about his death either. But he was the most likely choice. He dies in every, or practically every version of Supes. It was a big twist, and it was heartbreaking to see him go. But the most probable people to die are Johnathan (since he dies in the mythos), and Chloe and Lionel ( since they were created by SV and were never part of the mythos- atleast not to my knowledge).

I agree that this seems to be a bad move right now.
I am very curious if they are smarter than I give them credit for and I am going to venture to guess we will find the answer within the next 3 episodes.

Well, In the books and everything about Superman, isn't it Jonathan's death that made Clark become Superman? I sure agree that it wasn't the best move right now, but I think that they had their reasons to do that, and I sure hope that the show's quality will go downward because of this.

From what others have posted, most versions have the Kents still living while Clark is Superman. I think Jonathan dying is the storyline in the movies, so Smallville followed that particular route.

I agree,Smallville has been following the Movie Series, just look at the Fortress of Solitude,it is the same as the CR Movies.
Jhonathan Kent died in the first film.So basically Smallville is set around the Movie Series Universe, with some modifications.
And yes,I miss JK already!
