View Full Version : Is she suppose to be the female version of Batman?

The music in the background reminds me of the Batman series, specifically Batman and Robin. I'm not sure if she's being portrayed as being the female Batman. That's how I looked at it at least.

The opening notes were definitely from Elfman's Batman theme.

Batman's mentality with Superman's powers.

Judging by the "He deserves to die!" she shouts during the trailer, I wouldn't say she's a perfect copy of Batman's mentality.

That is def. a Batman theme but I think its just a bit cheesy

Yup, I think you got it. Huntress is linked to Batman so that kind of explains the theme song.

Blind as a bat?
Ugh, this is just making me wish we could see the real Batman even more. Playing Batman music while she's about to kill someone is just wrong. AlMiles intepretation of DC characters strikes again.

Or not.
I think you're confused as to the word "interpretation".
i.e. a different take on things.
If it was exactly the same, it wouldn't be an interpretation, would it?
If it's Huntress, I believe she could kill someone.
She probably has in the comics at one point.

She seems to be more along the lines of a Frank Miller Batman.

I got that same Batman feel when they played that music, lol.

yeah I got a Batman feel too, but she definitely is NOT the female version of the Bat. Batman doesn't kill. Period.
I can agree with the idea that she is AlMiles's version of Huntress though. She does seem rather Huntress-like. But not Batman.

i got this from it, she had a mixture of superman/batman/and zorro. hell the outfit to me screamed zorro and when she came up on chloe and had that strong spanish accent omg. so you can say my interpretation of it was Superzorrobatgirl.

I think some of you may be splitting hairs. It was so obviously "batman...girl". The theme music was DEFINITELY batman and the "blind as a bat" was a dead giveaway.
The first scene when she's introduced, she jumps on the roof and is highlighted by the spotlight...er...very Batman.
They obviously can't use Bruce Wayne or Batman so this is what they gave us. If it was too close to Batman, the execs wouldn't have let them do it. You guys act like it has to be "Wayne Bruce" as "Batguy" for it to be a reference to Batman.

If you know anything about Batman, you will know that this girl was nothing like him. She fights in an amature way (allowing herself to be unmasked? Please) threatens people when they try to put her on the front page news and believes in killing.
Now, that's not saying that she DID'NT give off a Batman vibe with the music, and looming over a vast city, but other then that she was nothing like my favorit iconic character.
I do think the WB is messing with fans of Batman though, first with Adam Knight, and now giving of a vibe with this chick.

There's one other possibliity...she could be The Phantasm from some Batman comics and from the animated movie "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm."
I mention this because "he" was thought to be Batman, appeared and reappeared out of nowhere, killed crime bosses, and was really a woman named Andrea...

I know what interpretation means, thank you very much. I think you're confused as to which character this girl was an interpretation of. While I got a Huntress vibe from her personality, seeing as AlMiles don't even read the comics, I seriously doubt she was intended to be Huntress. The music, the cinematography, the "blind as a bat" line, it all points to Batman. Yet her willingness to kill shows that, at her core, she is nothing like the Dark Knight at all. Hence my saying it looks like this is another sketchy interpretation of a DC comics character.

She reminded me of the recently resurrected Jason Todd (2nd Robin) who is now the Red Hood (the old gimmick of the Joker). He has that same Batman fighting style, but the biggest difference between them is that he will kill people. I can hardly wait until Batman and Todd have a battle. He is the one guy who really messes with Batman's head.
Andrea very much reminded me of him. Too much. It seems like he may have been the character she was modelled after.

You guys have to understand that there are thousands of fans who aren't as into comics as the rest of you are. The average viewer isn't going to see this character and think "that's not Batman...that's CLEARLY Huntress..." or something like that.
It's obvious to anyone who isn't in denial that she's supposed to allude to Batman. Obviously there are considerable differences. Again, if it's too close, they couldn't have done it.
It's not like you can open a MacDonalds and say it's not copying McDonalds.
Batman wouldn't have killed that guy. She's just some made up FOTW to do product placements for Acuvue. This is nothing more than an example of capitalism at its worse. They have to pay for the special effects somehow.

I agree with SManBeyond. While there were scenes which they seemed to be alluding that Andrea was a poor man's Batman (especially that helicopter spotlight at the beginning), that perhaps TPTB were basing the character off of the Phantasm. The main reason I think this is if you looked at the original spoilers for this episode, the character's name was originally Maya, but then they changed it to Andrea, which as SManBeyond said was the name of the Phantasm's alter ego. That kind of screamed anvil to me.
Oh, and wyrm11, you are right, that many viewers would see the similarities to Batman since he is a more known character than the Huntress (who by the way, was in the shortlived show Birds of Prey on the WB, which a portion of the Smallville audience probably watched an episode or two when it was on) or the Phantasm. However, that doesn't mean that TPTB weren't basing the character off a different DC character as a nod to comic book fans. Sure, not everyone would get it, but that hasn't stopped Smallville's Powers That Be from throwing inside jokes into their episodes.

It is in no was supposed to be Batman or take the "place" of or "stand for" Batman.
She was supposed to be RELATED to him in someway, obviously. But this is a different character.
No, Batman wouldn't kill. SHE'S NOT BATMAN. It actually pisses me off that people somehow manage to think that way.
She'll probably be back eventually and we'll eventually find out who she was meant to be.
