Before Clark travels back in time. just after the crash when he is leaning over the body of lana Johnathon seems to be able to pull him back with no problem at all. surely with his Strength and the fact he was probably be in shock he would have shrugged him off no problem.

If you think im nit picking then your wrong........ This is by far and away my favourite episode!!!

haha, very true, Clark would've thrown him without even thinking twice. I'm sure jonathan was able to hold him back in the scene to add drama and effect. good catch though

I thought about that, too, but just sucked it up to Clark letting him. It all goes back to Clark taking a dive when someone hits them so they won't get hurt.

I think it has to do with Clark being use to keeping his strength in check. There have been plenty of times throughout his life where he was learning to keep himself in check, maybe he has taken that step and this show was revealing that to us.

True but the state he would have been in would really have stopped him moving.

I also wondered where the anger was, last thing he heard was "omg he's coming after me" (meaning Lex), that pain would have turned to anger the moment he saw Lex.

Now if he had turned on Lex at that point i might have liked the episode, after all it would have been put right when he went back but to see angry Clark extract some revenge, well I'd of been impressed.

FABULOUS idea!!! Clark is hopping MAD (for maybe the first time ever) & exacts revenge by KILLING Lex! THEN, he has so much remorse that he does the REWIND to bring LEX back, losing Lana for BOTH of them! Another BOLD MOVE & "shocking death" the writers could have come up with! It also would 'tie in' w/ Lexmas that Lana was doomed by fate to die at some point early in her life. What are TPTB thinking??? If WE can come up w/ all these "thought provoking" alternate scenarios, why can't they? It just goes to show... just because you are a paid 'professional' writer for a TV episodic, it doesn't mean you have any 'talent' or 'creativity'! Bravo to all of you on this board!!! :D :) ;)

Its his father. Clark keeps his strength in check because of an unconditional family love. realistically most of us are or were stronger then our fathers at one point. we would easily be able to toss them ot the floor. but if a loved one dies and he was holding you back i doubt you would over power him....think about it.

I think they missed a great oppurtunity for Clark to throw Jonathan off to show how seeing Lana dead has effected him. It would have been perfect to illustrate how much Lana means to him for all other considerations to be temporarily forgotten in his grief. Not literally toss him in the air and hurt him, but as he is trying to cradle Lana's body and Jonathan tries to drag him away an anguished "NOOOOO!" and shrugging Jonathan aside with ease would have illustrated his pain perfectly.....they also shouldn't have cut away from the scene so fast....showed more of Clarks reaction, when Jonathan was holding him he was collapsing, they should have shown him to fall to his knees...this would illustrate how, now realisation has fully sunk in, the shock has sapped even Clark of his strength......

I don't think Jonathan should've been able to drag Clark away. Clark was FILLED with anger at that point. He had no self-control at all and I doubt he was thinking about controlling his powers. All he could think about is how Lana died.

Clark no matter how angry or sad would never hurt either of his earth parents. Hes showing control over his abilities in that hes very upset but knows his pop is always there to help him, he should have attacked Lex since he was told by Lana he was chasing her. That was odd to me in that hes crying over Lana but doesn't do anything to Lex when it was his fault and Clark knew that shows hes not as upset over Lana dying then when Alicia died. Makes you think since he knew both times who is responsible but only acts when Alicia is killed.

Maybe they were trying to illustrate Jonathan's love for Clark, in light of the fact that Jonathan would be dead by the end of the episode.

I agree that if Clark shrugged Jonathan off that it would have made for a pwerful scene. Yet, I think that even if Clark had shrugged him off. Jonathan would have tried again to drag Clark away.

clark really loves his dad and i doubt he would try to hurl him across the street or something. when your sad your less strong and kinda like jelly so it makes sense.

I suppose it depends on the person. Still I think that whole scene was great. The way Clark appeared in front of Lex with his superspeed not caring was a really powerful device, MR and TW's acting was great and the music really fit the shot.....great stuff....!

I just watched it again! IMHO, the scene fit in well with the fact that Jonathan was going to die by the end of the episode.

Clark has spent his entire life being respectful, if not subservient, to his parents. It's his way of life, his habit to give way to them. He feels such gratefulness to them for taking him in and protecting him all those years in every way they could. They loved him unconditionally and completely. A person doesn't just forget that and ignore it. Just because you are sad or angry doesn't mean you've lost your mind, at least it doesn't have to mean that. I remember sneezing at a funeral. Even though I was very sad, I feel certain I said "excuse me". Yes, Clark could flat out kick JK's butt, but he never did growing up and he never will.

Beside the fact that JK is dead. Still you get my point, don't you?

I still don't think that JK should've been able to hold him. Clark was right now angry and confused and whenever he's that he loses all common sense (as evidenced in "Pariah"). He saw Lana in a pool of blood. I doubt he'd be worried right then about what his father had to say.

Yeah I agree. It would have just added more weight to the scene as well...with Clark tossing JK aside and then cradling Lana in a pool of blood...!!

Yeah and then 10 minutes later Jk biting the bullet, it would have lessoned his death IMO

Erm I think after you reach 100 posts.
Although it means nothing here, you can be at 3000 posts and be a forum yoda or whiz or whatever and still talk complete bo***x so it really is irrelevant

Also, Lex seemed more interested in Clark's speed in the accident. He was like . And seeing as they were going to use time reversal, they might have well have had him toss the car off her or something. THAT would have been good. It was just a let down seeing her there in, what can only be described as a very large pool of blood. JK must have been strong true, but Clark wasn't going to hurt him. Hw many times have they held him at times of sadness etc.

At that moment, I don't think Clark was thinking about HOW she died...just that Lana was dead, period. She [would've been] gone forever..now thats a pretty scary ass thing to realize in a split second. Clark was shocked as hell and pain stricken with grief..as JK pulls him away, you can see Clark kind of stagger, like his knees are giving out or something. To me that means that he is so shocked, sad, angry and guilty that he's on the verge of collapsing. Like they said, just because your not human it doesn't mean you don't have humanity.

I have to say that after seeing it again, it is possible he was staggering as you say so that sounds like a good summation. It wasn't anger at all, it was more hysterical grief.

Clark away.

It was a great Acting on both schnidee and TW.

Besides Clark being in a distressed state.
JK just tried to turn Clark away and block his view, rather than being behind clark pulling him away. Great Tactic!

Now Time after Time would be a good theme for Lana's death.

or Monty Python's "Always look at the Bright side of Life *whistle*"
