Shouldn't Clark have tried cpr or at least superspeed Jonathen to the hospital. With his speed, it would only take seconds. And perhaps he could have been saved.

Yes, I thought of that too. Geez, Clark get moving! He should have at least tried to get his dad to a hospital and he can move far faster than any ambulance. Clark is such a BDA.

He didn't think twice about getting Lana to a hospital after the tornado, yet he sits there and watches his father die. I agree....he is a BDA

What if in the heat of the moment he compressed her chest too hard and ruptured her ventricle?

In "Resurrection" the doctor said that if Jonathan had a second heart attack, he wouldn't survive it.

I would have at least tried anyways. I think the scene was cut and he did take him to the FOS...can't wait for the extended scenes in the Season 5 DVD set. :)

I've seen screencaps and pics around the internet where Clark has Jon in the FOS. I think they had some scene where he ran his Dad to Jor-El to ask for help or something but it was cut out for time. (I would have liked to see this episode be 2 hours, frankly. Felt like too much crammed into one hour.)
So maybe Clark isn't a BDA after all?

Naaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

Yeah in one article with Al Gough he said there was a scene where Clark takes Jonathan to Jor El but TPTb didnt like it as well on camera as they did when it was written out on script. So I am sure we will see it on S5 dvd.

I just assumed that Clark did rush Jon to the hospital when the comercial came on. Becasue when they comercial break was over a few days had passed since we went to the day of the funeral.

If you have ever known someone who has had a heart attack or died from it, it just happens so fast. Often there is nothing that can be done...whether CPR is tried or not.

Yes. But he could have had him at the Hospital in under 2 seconds. That is what I'm talking about.

Right, BUT, the whole point is that not even Clark can help everyone everytime.

He could have tried :( Even if JK died, Clark could have tried to save him.

I'm assuming that Jon had a massive heart attack. My grandmother died of a massive heart attack. There was really nothing Clark could do. CPR wouldn't stop that. They even did that "chest buster" thing on my grandmother, where they inject that huge needle with adrenaline right into your heart, and it didn't help. I'm not a doctor, but from what I've heard of massive heart attacks, it's like your heart exploding in your chest. I don't think that's what actually happens, just that the damage to the heart is so extensive that it might as well have.

And I'm pretty sure that Jon was dead the moment he collapsed in their arms. So superspeed wouldn't have helped. There was nothing Clark could have done. No matter how much he is going to blame himself, he wasn't at fault. Though I suspect he'll blame himself more over the fact that his decision to save Lana directly resulted in Jon's death. I know he's glad that Lana is alive, and he probably wouldn't have been able to choose between them, like Martha said, but I think it will still weigh on him.

I think clark realized no matter what, he wouldnt be saved... The heart attack was very sudden... it wasnt like he started having shooting pains with a large anticipation of what would happen

This is exactly the point I was trying to make.

I was bothered by this scene, also... I thought Clark really should have super-sped his Father to the ER. Even if they couldn't have saved him, it was worth a try, no? But in reading some of the other posts here, I'm seeing, perhaps, that Clark realized there was nothing he could do to avoid Jor-El's prediction, and maybe if he tried to avoid it again, (as he did the first time with Lana), something even worse might result.

If we're to believe that Jor-El was the one responsible for Jonathan's death, then there was really nothing that Clark could've done. His will is always set in stone.
