I don't get it!! Can Clark NOT have sex with his superpowers?

I just don't get it.....!!!! Can Clark NOT have sex with Lana with his superpowers? He acts like now that he has his powers back, he can't have sex with Lana. Is he afraid that his superpowers are going to hurt her while having sex? I never understood the mythos behind Superman having to give up his powers to have sex (like in Superman II). He can eat, change clothes, go to the bathroom etc...all like a normal man with his powers, why is sex such a problem?

In "Lois & Clark" Clark had Sex with Lois many times with his powers. Only difference is SV's Clark hasn't mastered all of his Super powers yet. He can't control them as good as Adult Clark Kent/SUPERMAN can .

As for Clark on Smallville, I think he's afraid if he isn't in complete control while he is enjoying himself that he might squish her, throw her clear across the bed, or across the room or god forbid through a wall, or burn her with his heat vision. He doesn't know what will happen to her. So he is playing it extra safe.

In fanatic Clark talked about having to learn how to control each new power/ability that he discovered. I think since he knows that someone close to him is supposed to die, he is afraid that he could actually kill Lana if they become intimate. I don't know if he's afraid of things being too powerful/fast/strong etc. or whether he's afraid of heat vision or just squishing her but when he was kissing her on her bed in fanatic he freaked out about hurting her when she was really only lying on something that had been left on the bed.

Actually it was Brody in Mallrats, not Jay and Silent Bob. Jay was obessessing over Wolverine in that movie. Neither Jay nor Silent Bob mentioned Superman and if I go any further this thread will get closed.

I wouldn't say Lois and Clark don't count, but there are marked differences between the two shows. On L&C, as someone else pointed out, Clark remained a virgin until marriage (a moray Smallville's Clark doesn't seem to share. For Shame on Smallville; even more shame on Sv's Clark.) In addition and perhaps more importantly, there was implicit trust between Lois and Clark. This doesn’t seem to be the case between SV’s Lana and Clark. On L&C knew that Clark was Superman for months before they even became engaged. Lois understood implicitly the depth of Clark's physical strength , yet in the end their love was strong enough to take the risk because she also knew the depth of his compassion a realized she had nothing to fear. For SV's Lana and Clark, they may feel lust for each other but it's not love. Love involves trust. Clark has stated outright that he doesn't trust Lana. He told Martha that he can't take the chance of telling Lana the truth about himself, because he knows she'll never accept him if she knew. As for Lana, we've seen her betray Clark's trust already. She gave Lex Clark's medical records and the other things she's done, shows Lana to be as untrustworthy as Clark thinks she is.

Lois and Clark loved each other. Lana and Clark simply lust for each other. Love is a safety net, but lust can spiral out of control, no wonder SV's Clark is afraid to have sex with Lana it's more then fear of his powers.
