I was surprised in this Episode to see Clark complain that "HE saved Lana from a bomb". Chloe had every right to slam that back in his face and he deserved it, but what we are seeing is a CK that is nervous and scared to what his relationship is becoming. That is why we see his decisions in the upcoming episode. His secret that he is hiding from her is becoming too big for himself.

You can't fault the guy too much given the circumstances if for 5 years someone else is getting credit for your hard work (in terms of saving lives). His emotions are just starting to show through because of his love for Lana and he is panicking.

I just got done reading a thread that Clark is being a Grade A prick, but we have to understand a few things.

1. Clark loves Lana, we know this.
2. For years Clark has wanted to tell Lana his secret, but has feared of the outcome.
3. The guy is 18-19 years old in the show, his decisions can be erratic, immature, and given the fact that he thinks his GF his moving away from him, he is getting nervious.

Everyone keeps saying, "how can THIS CK become Superman, he has no qualities like Superman.

Again, this is Smallville, not Superman. Clark still have abililities to learn, pain/suffering due to lost loved ones to go through (cough next week), and his alone time at the FOS for 7 years or whatever, according to the movie series.

He is a completely changed man when he arrives as Superman, but as a young Clark kent, he has all the qualities (mentally and emotionally) as any other 18 year old kid.

So give the guy a damn break and stop analyzing his every thought process and comparing it to Superman.

Yeah, the Clark saving Lana from bomb wasn't really special. I mean, Lex could actually have died, but Clark is invulnerable. Big difference.

The thing is that Clark is portrayed with such self-centeredness that I don't understand how he will change even after the death. Clark has shown repeatedly to make the same mistakes over and over and I don't know how this time will be any different.

Actually, I didn't mind Clark up until the last few episodes. People make mistakes yes, but what causes those mistakes should be looked at. Clark's mistakes in the past (like the red-K summer) was caused by extreme pain and guilt, but Clark is portrayed with no internal conflict now. He is only portrayed with bull-headedness and lack of thought.

I realize CK is a young person, and of course he should have human qualities. I don't think he should be portrayed as perfect, but likable? Yes. While I suppose he might grow out of the BAJ phase in the future still, if the lead character isn't sympathetic or lovable ( unless it's House) somehow, TPTB are making bad creative choices.

yes...but the season still has plenty of episodes. We may very well see a change in Clark as a person after next week. Losing someone you love, be it a father or gf, can have a very profound effect on your life and the decisions you make.

I am speculating, but I think we will see Clark evolve into a better "person" throughout the rest of this season.

Funny, that comment actually reminded me of S1/2 when Clark is talking to his parents about Whitney joining the military. Clark thought it took more bravery to do what Whitney did than to do what he's doing, because Whitney wasn't invincible like Clark was.

Quite a turnaround for our "hero." Here's hoping he GROWS UP in the next several episodes.

This is the guy who's supposed to be Superman!!! Superman isn't supposed to take credit for saving people. He's supposed to do it because it's the right thing to do, not because he expects a reward from it. Clark hasn't changed at all since the pilot where he wanted a car in exchange for saving Lex Luthor's life.

I dont think Clark wanted the car in exchange, he just thought it was a great bonus when he saw it. He would have saved his life regardless. Clark does save people selflessly but I have no issues with him having an occassional selfish moment - if he were perfect he'd be boring.

But it was wrong of Clark to feel that he deserved the car just caused he saved Lex's life just like it's wrong of Clark now to feel that he deserves Lana's affection just cause he saved her life.

Oh I agree with you there. =) I think he's been jealous of Lex and Lana possibilities for awhile. Even back at the end of Season three before she went to Paris when he walked in and saw the two on the couch in the study. I'll never forget the look or the tone, Lex and Lana never seemed to notice it though.

I don't agree with you completely. Lex has a super immune system and he might've risked his life for Lana knowing that it would heal him completely.

I completely agree. Plus, the fact the Clark proposes to Lana right after he see's her with Lex only adds to his inmaturity. Then, oops, nevermind... Bad Clark!!!!!
