I used to really hate Lexana, but wow, it's been so interesting this season and it was really fantastic in this episode. That was really the high point of this episode for me, Lex and Lana's interactions. He took a bullet for her! And then, at the end, "lets be friends" Awww. And then the hug with the BDA staring angrily at both of them. Heh. I'm not a big Lana fan but she's just so much more interesting when she's with Lex.

Definately! Lexana ruled this eppy!! It was so cute when Lex showed his insecurity about his hair or lack there of, and then he talked a little bit about his dream in Lexmas!!!

"You think I'd look better with hair?" lol!

that exchange was so heartbreakingly sweet. you just know that Lex would give her the world if she asked for it, his feelings for her are so genuine and adorable. they bring out great sides of eachother, really....I love Lexana!!

That hug in "Splinter" was a complete foreshadowing moment. This time it wasn't a delusion ;). Just wanted to point that out the foreshadowing .

Hey, that was some great foreshadowing wasn't it? Even right down to Lana looking over at Clark while she's hugging Lex.

The hair talk was definately the best part of the Lexana in this ep.

This is the second time that I have quoted you tonight MBCorp....but you are so right! It also helped that KK's acting kicked up a notch and was consistent just about from beginning to end. After just about each of her scenes....I was like.....Wow! I really didn't expect this. So to hold her own with Michael....what can I say.....I really enjoyed the Lexana tonight.

P.S. I'd say that I enjoyed the Clark/Lana loft scene, but I can't stand the two. But their performances were awesome .......However, I also can't let go of the fact that they are making Clark look so bad........that lying, spying, conniving, dumb ass alien.

All the Lex and Lana scenes were very well acted. Both MR and KK did a good job.

Normally, I can't STAND Lana, but I have to admit, I could be capable of putting up with her in the Lexana situation. I've always thought she was a better character by being bad.
The Lana, who is dating Clark is (in my opinon) a one-dimensional girl who seems to only be concerned about being loved (granted, I'll give her the "she grew up as an orphaned girl who saw her parents die"...that would suck, but still).
However, the Lana getting mixed up with Lex, the obsessions about the meteor shows and Clark, and the flirtation with the dark side, actually has some complexity which causes her to become interesting.
To see her team up with Lex is the only reason I want Lana to survive the 100th episode :)

Lexana has a better realtionship than Clana, because for the most part Lex is honest with Lana, a hell of alot more than BDA Clark is .

I really liked the point in the hospital when he holds out his hand to shake and says,"Partners?"

She pauses and says,"No."

And he flinches, it's there and you can see it, and then she says friends, and then it's like its Lex-Mas all over for me!

That was a moment worthy to put in the annals as a turning point in their relationship. I mean seriously, they've always been partners all through their relationship, but when the chips are down and no one wants to play with the bad Luthor, she takes his hand and wants to be his friend. That, my friends will be the begining of a tumulous relationship if you ask me.

I am all about the Lexana and LOVED it in this ep. Watching them relate to one another is just so much better and genuine and refreshing than watching Clana relate to one another - 'course the honesty is key in that - but I've waited along time to see Lexana and loving that there's been so much in this season.

I don't usually like Lana, but I love the chemistry between Lex and lana. Lexana is so sweet and innocent. Lex really cares about lana, and it is obvious that if Clark wasn't in the way Lana'd go for it..

I liked Clana early this season, like in Mortal and Hidden, but still ultimately wanted Lexana....so the triangle stuff was all good to me, to.....but now, not so much...Clana is getting on my last nerve! Bring on the Lexana!!!

That was a really beautiful scene with great acting by both Michael and Kristin. Lex looked so vulnerable in that scene, and it was so sweet when Lana said, "let's be friends". Awww. I just love the fact that she wanted to be friends with him. :)

The part with him talking about having hair was the only thing that kept me from throwing my remote through the TV when Lex and Lana were together. I try, honestly I do, but I just can't embrace the Lexana. I love Lexy way too much to see him with Pinky. I've seen the women he's been with, and I just can't buy into him falling for the wee one. :\

Also, I just can't get over how he was laying there dying and she turned it around to make herself the victim. Hello! He's bleeding to death, I think it's not all about you right now.

It moved me far more than any Clark/Lana scene ever has.....I'm still going wow.......Michael's always top notch......but KK to? I actually really....really.....liked her this time around. Man, if that can happen........maybe I should run out and buy a lotto ticket before this weekend.........yeah.....anything is possible.

You know......she did turn it around for the briefest of moments (I assume you're referring to her learning the ship was gone)....but the realization came so quick and so powerful that it was justified.....what an awesome performance from KK.....sorry, but I'm still in awe of KK during this particular episode.........and I like the fact that you honestly say that you try to embrace the Lexana.......can't ask for more than that if you're a Lexana fan who happens to disagree with you. Disagree yes.....but totally understanding where you are coming from.....based on Lana's past character traits.

Lexana was definetly the highlight of this episode. Those two had such good on screen chemistry, expecially when they were locked up, and Lex was almost losing consiousness. Their conversation about hair was defietly entertaining.
I also liked how Lex was talking about the episode "Lexmas". Writers are definetly full swing into continuity this season. Cheers to that.

And to defend Lana on the "ship's missing" count - that's also the moment that she realizes there's no way out of their situation. Without a ship to bargain with, Lex (and maybe her) are both going to die.

Yeah, Lex and Lana seem to be a more workable and interesting to watch relationship than Clark and Lana. The actors also work well together. It's possible that because Michael is more skilled than Tom he helps to bring out a more interesting performance in Kristin as well.

I'm hoping that when Clark finally reveals his secret to Lana it will backfire on him and she will dump him and wind up with Lex. This would make a lot of sense considering Lana's background. Her eyewitness experience with aliens at the spaceship landing showed them as ruthless killers, as she mentioned in this episode. That mention might be more foreshadowing. Clark will not score points with Lana by being an Alien.

Shiver

I think there's more than just the actors involved in making Lexana look better than Clana. The Lexana relationship is just more *adult* than Clana. It's a relationship in which both people know that the person they're with has flaws, instead of being the "perfect person" they're meant to be with.

Clark has always seen Lana as an idealized figure, the "girl next door" who was perfect in every way. And, like Lana and Chloe have told him time and time again, Lana's *not that girl.*

The real Lana has ambitions. She wants an education, and a life outside of Smallville. She wants to be able to protect herself instead of having Clark protect her. And (like Chloe has said) Lana has a dark side. She *is* willing to have Lex run people out of town for her. In fact, she'll ask him herself.

So, while Clana and sweet and cute, some of the strain on the relationship comes from the fact that both people are hiding who they really are from each other. Clark's hiding the fact he's an alien, and Lana - who's genuinely in love with this *good* person - is trying hard to be the person she thinks Clark wants to be with.

With Lex, on the other hand, Lana doesn't have to hide. Lex isn't "good," so he'll never judge her, no matter what she asks him to do. He understands that she wants to be more than a Smallville cheerleader, and he'll help her realize her ambitions, whether it's by teaching her to kick-box or helping her raise the money to go to France.

Clark is supportive (mostly) of Lana's ambitions, but they always take him by surprise (i.e. her decision to go to a different university than him).

Lexana is still the creepiest thing on the planet. I thought that this episode was the worst in that aspect. Boring plot added with the creepiest ship ever was just bad.

Exactly. Clark is deluded about Lana, and thinks that everything would be perfect with her if only he didn't have his powers. But that's wrong. If Clark didn't have his powers he'd probably wind up pretty much like Jonathan. A nice normal guy spending his life shoveling cow dung on a farm in Smallville. Some people would be happy with that, but Lana never would. Lex, on the other hand, recognizes that Lana is "the girl who wants to go to Paris."
He has a more realistic view of Lana as a person in her own right, and doesn't expect her to be some fantasy of perfection.

The exchange about the hair was amusing, but the rest of their interactions didn't do much for me. If they got into a relationship it would simply be a retread of the issues that are driving a wedge between Clark and Lana (i.e. dishonesty and deception). Lex is just as deceptive as Clark. He routinely spins half-truths, hides things to protect himself, and has ulterior motives. I don't think he told Lana about the ship because keeping her in the dark was a good way to remain close to her. I'm also 99% sure he hasn't told Lana that he was the one who sent the meteor freaks that almost killed her and the Kents in "Mortal".

Considering the fact that Lana has demanded honesty in her relationships since season 1, Lex would definitely not a more suitable boyfriend. If they ended up together, Lana would be another character besides Captain Oblivious (aka Clark Kent) who hasn't learned much in the last 4.5 years.

Besides all that, though, it means yet another love triangle. That theme has worn thin for me.

Yeah, I agree. I find Lana to be a much more interesting, layered character when she's interacting with Lex than when she's with Clark. Lex seems to bring out a tougher, more adult side to her and Kristin gives a stronger performance. There's so many interesting ways their relationship could go too, it gives it an unpredictable edge.

I gotta admit. I love Lexana! Bring it on baby. The scenes in the panic room with Lex and Lana were touching. Would I look better with hair and does Clark know...know what? That he has great hair... the subtle comic relief that helped to carry the message that Lex was trying to relay to Lana.
Lexana is a more interesting relationship to me. I don't know why some find it unbelievable (and some revolting) that Lana could ever have feelings for Lex. He certaining is more (not completely of course) honest then Clark. Look at all the crap she has had to deal with Clark. Lex would be just as complicated. Now if she could ever truely love him like she does Clark of course...well that is a different thread all together. But boy that would be more entertaining to watch then all of Clana's angst. Bring on Lexana! That is of course if Lana isn't the one to go byebye.

On some primordial level Lana has been the sweet girl that everyone knows and loves. She left "safe Whitney" when he was gone in the military, to be with Clark. She left Adam and Jason, psychopaths in their own right, to be with Clark. Now, she has had this friendship with this handsome, smart, suave billionaire for years now, and he's not safe, by any6 means, and she knows it.

Part of her wants Clark to love her like she loves him.
Part of her wants to let Clark go.

The first real love of hers, presumably Clark, is hard to get off her skin, so to speak, and that is the problem. She sees in his eyes love. More love than she's felt from anyone, she thinks. They're alike; orphans, raised by others to be strong individuals in a harsh world, but on the same hand fair and just. So she fights any urge to want to be without him.

On to Lex. He's danger in every sense of the word. He cannot control himself in situations that normal people would walk away from, because he believes in his own immortality, and that makes him a hard person to get close to, or you'd be pulled into it too. Hence the panic room incident we saw the other night in Lockdown. She's now in Lex's inner circle, even more than before, even more than even Clark has been. They're working together to get answers, which no one really has done this entire time in the schow, other than Lionel. And now, sweet little Lana Lang is.

When their intrest in each other started, I'm sure that Lex and Lana passed it over as mild curiosity. And that's cool. But if you don't feed that desire once its been piqued, than you have what we have here. In the moment, when all the chips are down with Lex, and no one can rationalize with Lana but him on so many levels, then they are pushed together in a way they both thought would never happen.

In short, now that I've rambled to the point where maybe I should have stopped a while ago, I want to say that they both want to be with each other, and you know what?

If they are, it's because Clark put them there. End of story

Christine C

I have to say I find this relationship interesting. Its true Clark has put them together. He's even changed both their lives from the very beginning. When the meteor hit Lana lost her parents,
and Lex's life was affected as well. Lana could be the only one to save Lex from himself so you know its not going to ever come to anything, but it will be interesting to see what develops.

Billy Jor-El

Lex genuinely loves Lana, and really has not lied to her, other than, ahem, in his Dark Side business ways. When it comes to his feelings, I think he would be truly open and not turn away from her. With Lana's flirt witht he Dark Side (Lanabel) she certainly should know something of where he comes from. Lex's Dark Side seems to be his ambitions at any price, yet turn it around and there's Lexmas where he's truly happy being Dad with the car seat and spoiling his son with the best Lexmas tree he can't afford. There's a bit of each, Dark and Bright, Side to Lex and Lana; it makes them more real, it makes for great chemistry, it shows them as adults, while Clark remains a boy obsessed with puppy love.

I'm all for Lana learning the secret and saying laters to the BDA and ending up with Lex.

MBCorp, they were the best part for me too. In every eppy, this is usually the case *g*, and in "Lockdown", it was absolutley so. I loved their every scene and I agree, everything they shared was so touching.

His comment about having hair was totally poignant. He made a joke to make her laugh, but in truth, was leading up to his confession that he had thought of lots of things, and so much of it involves her. I loved how he brushed her cheek and I loved it that she wouldn't let him die. He took a bullet for her, but she also did everything she could to save him. I saw them as this undeniable team, working to save the other and in the end, sharing so much. When she hugs him, his reaction was so sweet. Didn't it remind you of "Lexmas"? He goes from disbelief to knowing to accepting, and when he buries his face in her hair, holding on, you just have to swoon. They were just wonderful together. I'm so hopeful for what's to come.

I can't wait. And just one more, the little smile he gives her after she says "It's nothing" - *sigh*. Just looking at her, it makes him happy and knowing that she's there with him, came to see him with the hope of them starting again, must make him feel like it's all going to be OK. He thought they were over, but no way, she'll be there. I know it!

Thank you for the thread. I love reading all the Lex/Lana!

"If we were at the fair, I would've won you a stuffed giraffe" - (aw.)

"You were the best part about it" - (Lex!!)

"You're one of the few good things in my life. I hope that won't change" - (it won't.)

Ew I hate Lexana but the scene in Lockdown was surprisingly good, even though I'll never support Lex and Lana. I do like the more joking casual approach they were going at, when Lex asked if he would look better with hair, lol... hen he was all dreamy like when he said Clark has nice hair and Lana laughed and said yeah she guess he does; that part was just adorable, both of them. But the ending scene, blah yuck!

Oh yeah, and for many reasons in this episode, I liked Lex far more than I liked Clark in here.. you can't blame Lana for feeling the same. When Lex told Lana he'll be honest with her from now on... ouch, that's when Clark lost.

I, too, loved the Lexana scenes in this episode. Honestly, I have never been a Lexana fan. But seeing them together in this episode was very moving. MR really brings out the best in the actors he works with, but no one more so than KK. She performs beautifully, emotionally and most importantly, evenly with him. It's also heartbreaking to watch Lana and Lex because we know from Lexmas that Lex knows what will happen to Lana should they end up together in the future. You can almost see Lex's inner struggle, determined to have money, power, etc. but also falling in love with Lana.

I was annoyed last summer when AlMiles spoke of a Clark/Lana/Lex triangle this year, but I think this could definitely get very interesting, especially with this week's episode.

On the issue of honesty, it's true that Clark has been dishonest to Lana since the beginning, but he has hidden one fundamental secret (and things that related to his secret) but never his feelings. Lex, on the other hand, has lied about many other things. For example, take S4, particularly the finale; Lex lied to Lana about his true reasons for covering up Genevieve's murder. My point is that while Clark has lied, he's lied because he thought he needed to protect Lana from the truth. Lex lied for his own benefit.

I'm all for the the Lexana.
To tell you the truth, I sensed way more chemistry between them, than with Clark.

Maybe it'll open Clark's eyes to what's right in front of him. CHLOE!

She's HOT, & she's got plenty that the Lana character doesn't have.
(I.E. Witty dialogue, brains, skillz)

Don't get me wrong, Lana has.......well, uhh.......she's "pretty."

I see some more people are loving lexana!!! I'm just glad that some people recognize the chemistry that MK and KK have with each other now, it always gets better. As for joining Chlark, i dont know because i absolutely LOVE them as friends, but there's something about Lexana, Chlark, Clana, and Lois that i love about all four of them. But i have always loved the relationship that Lex and Lana have.

Lets just hope Reckoning won't make everyone go back to hating Lexana again! Or god forbid....Lana isn't around anymore!:eek:

I know, i love both lana and jonathan, but if i absolutely had to chose who would die, i would chose jonathan. Lana's a huge part of the show, and she's one of my favorite characters. And it would definetley ruin Lexana.

They might make Lexana creepy again ala Onyx! I will scream bloody murder if they do that!

Imo Lexana is far more interesting and more fun to watch than Clana. I hope they really get into this relationship later on this season.

I really liked this episode, and I actually didn't dislike Lana. :)

I've never really liked Clana, just because I never liked Lana much.. But, for some reason, I really like her character in any Lexana scenes. o_0

I think it was complete BS that lana was happy lex took a bullet for her, but clark ran through fire, picked her up and saved her. I'd rather be shot that get blown to pieces >:(

But, although Lana didn't know it, Lex could have died, while Clark wasn't risking his life at all. :P
