What a surprise. He gets it installed and immediately gets to use it.

I figured it was the safe all over again. Either that or Lex had some serious time on his hands. I'm betting on it being there before the whole missle incident.

I thought it look like the safe..but then again, the placement was a bit off in the one roomed mansion.

That area of the library/pool room/office/den/bed room/hospital has seen a lot of changes.
At times the safe was your typical Sears fireproof model covered by books or something. In others, it moved up to full scale room containing various objet d'art (see Shimmer and Commencement). It never seems the same. In Shimmer the room was quite large and spacious containing various art objects and in Commencement in looks long, narrow and clutered with Kryptonian or meteor related objects.

It probably is the same exact set piece used for the safe in the earlier episode.
In the Smallville commentary they mentioned how most of the set pieces get dismantled and reused over and over again for different episodes. It's just usually hard to tell because they are remodeled and the lighting changed.

He said it would withstand a nuclear blast. Yeah right Lex. I think you need to be further underground for that.

In the Superman movie (1 I think) Lex had a room like that, a safe room/panic room whatever you want to call it. I just think it's intriguing that this is the first time we've seen him use it considering the other times he's also been in danger.
If Clark has a FOS, Lex must have one too. If Clark has nice hair, Lex... too bad.

Well considering how he knows it's because of the meteor shower that he has no hair and that all kryptonite has done was cause more problems, like turning Lana into a vampire, level 3, and the black kryptonite spliting himself into 2 and one almost killing off the other... yeah I say Lex would've gotten rid of all of it but since this is Smallville where nobody seems to think straight or see what's in front of them...

just doesnt seem like lex to give it all up... all that time and money would be wasted otherwise
its his obsession and he cant let that go

I don't think Lex got rid of all of that stuff. He's still obsessed with studying the mysteries of SV (like the spaceship) so it wouldn't surprise me if he had a place with all of his Clark research. We know he has all sorts of labs where he's doing shady things.

Isn't this the same room where he had all of that Kryptonian stuff, like the chinese figure with the kryptonite eyes and mouth?

Yeah but I guess when Clark ripped it out of the wall he didn't find it as secure =)
