This was by far the lamest episode yet of Smallville. Perhaps I was disappointed because I thought I'd see something more exciting or thought-provoking for the start of the new year. Instead, the episode gave us a rehashed freak-of-the-week with Samanatha's infatuation with Lex.

Yup.. i agree. The thing is, it was a looong break and we all expected a kick-ass episode. And in my opinion, Smallville could do whole lot better in the ratings, which weren't what I would call satisfactory.
On the other hand, the plot is building up episode by episode. In this episode, we didn't get to see much of a continue of the plot, but episode 100 is near.
That's why last Thursday's eppy was like.. average.
Other than that, let's not forget that Lexmas was a really good one, so that kinda balances it off.

I dunno really. I've been a Smallville fan for a long time and I don't think that they're gonna let us down. :)

Yes, I do agree. I think this was the worst and most boring episode of the season. In fact, I think it quite possibly be the worst episode of the series. Because some of those filler episodes like Thirst, Spell, Relic, and several others had some entertaining moments. This episode actually didn't have anything. It didn't even have much character development. "Fanatic' was just a really bad episode. I really hope 'Lockdown' is FAR better.

I liked this episode alot so I disagree with it being "the lamest episode yet".
