Did anyone else catch the season 3 clip of Lionel saying "the job is still open if you want to take it" (or something along those lines) to Martha? I thought that was ackward and out of place.

I guess they were trying to show the connection those two shared before which would somewhat explain the offering/asking for money thing at the end. Somewhat.

Yea, talking about how he missed Martha's sage advice when she was working with him around that time.

i dont get any of those clips they showed cause they didnt have anything to do with this episode. it seems like they could have used that more on the 100th. maybe they did that so if people tuned in they would thinking the death was happening tonioght and something big would happen with lionel and martha.

The opening sequence almost always touches on or leads into whatever is going on during the episode.

When i saw the lionel/martha part, my "oh crap" alert fired off. I've been waiting on a new Lionel angle besides being the host of Jor-El. Hope it develops out nicely.....if Lionel doesnt get snuffed in #100 of course.

I think Lionel will stay around. They are setting up an arc where, after Jonathan dies, Martha can't get out from under Lionel's thumb. She has just made a decision similar to the one Jonathan made when Clark was a baby - to depend on Lionel. Lionel ALWAYS wants something in return. The scene of Martha getting in the limo to make the deal recalls a similar one in that episode where Jonathan was framed for trying to kill Lex. The bartender tried to make a deal with Lionel in a limo & found out that Lionel always gets something in return. Martha & Lionel will stay around for big arc in future. My prediction.

ya but some of the clips were just like huh what does this have to do with the episode. like clark on the missle that had nothing to do with anything. and the martha and lionel thing would have made more sense if martha decided to work for lionel agian and not just take the money. at least the other episodes that had that previously on thing showed how it lead up to that particular episode. they should have just shown clips from exposed about mr kent being talked into running.

I think because we were coming off a 3/4 week hiatus is why they showed a bunch of clips. Just to remind us what's going on.

yea I noticed that too... i was like oooooouuuhhhhhh which reminds us that Lionel has always has his heart with Martha, and having Lex be senate would be the worst possible thing. I think it was nice of him, but I don't know that whole pickin her up in the car clip was kind of like you take my money and I'll be able to do anything to you later..
