Only seen Lionel burn the evidence Lex had on them so far, looking forward to Martha and Lionel though.

And we all thought it was the birth certificate he was burning in the trailer caps...why is Lionel doing all this?

To get a little mionel on air?

Mionel was awesome in Season 2 and it's awesome now.

Ack. more mionel at the end of the episode. So ominous, so...yes, i guess you could say fun or awesome, or whatever.

There is something about that relationship, something so wrong its weird and cool.

If was expecting to see Jonathan see Lionel and Martha drive off together...that would have been a great ending

lol, I love Mionel! I've been calling it Lartha all this time....hmmm...I wonder what Martha will do.

What's up with Lionel? Why does he like Martha? I forgot the reason.

Annette O'Toole and John Glover have such wonderful chemistry, it's like art to watch them together as Martha and Lionel.

Lionel is attracted to her Martha due to her passion towards her work and around her family. Besides, we know how Lionel gets when it comes to something he knows he can't have, he gets obessed.

Superman115...good explanation. Lionel is attracted to her because he craves to have something he can't have, on more than one level. Like with Martha's honesty and integrity...it is something that he cant have.

On another level, Lionel's attraction has to do with power. He wants the challenge of showing his guile and craft is as strong as the fortitude of Martha's motherly love.

Did you notice how close Martha's and Lionel's faces got when they were talking? It looked like they were gonna kiss any minute!!!

They have great chemistry. I like seeing Lionel on screen. He plays a good balance between Lex and all the other characters. I also love how the episode ended. Was that cool or what?

Lionel is attracted to Martha, because, in his own words to her, "You know, Martha, there are times that I'm with you when I could swear I was talking to my wife. She was a lot like you, Martha. The same unflinching honesty. I miss that." :)

Wait a minute! She's a married woman. Well, not for much longer. But then, she will be a widow. How is that going to play out?

watcher4, don't jump to conclusions. :) Jonathan may not die. "Smallville" may just be BRILLIANTLY setting it up so it seems he'll die, and then pulling the metaphorical rug from underneath us and killing off someone unexpected.

BUT if he does die, then Lionel will be one happy camper!!!! :)

Yes, I think the writers are eying a future widowed Martha-Lionel relationship.

I like the fact that Mionel further cements the bizarre Cain/Abel "brotherhood" of Lex and Clark. Lionel likes Martha because he's like Lex's mother. Lex consider(ed) Clark to be "closer to him than a brother" - if not his real brother (the adoption thang). It really comes down to tug of war between JK and Lionel+Jor-el as the good vs. evil father figures.

Yay family dysfunction!

If Jonathan dies, it would be interesting to see a slowly developing Mionel over time (let her grieve and all for a season or two). Clark would go nuts!

loisnlana,

Hahahahah. Yeah, that'd be awesome! I think Martha can see past Lionel's mask, though, and she knows firsthand the atrocities he's capable of. So I'm not sure she'd ever fall for him, as much as she'd like to, unless maybe it was in a moment of emotional weakness, when her defenses were down, Clark was gone or something, and Jonathan is now dead, and she just wants to be loved and she feels lonely. And we all know how Lionel gets past people's defenses. So it COULD happen. That'd be AWESOME!

I can't believe Martha would trust Lionel after he tried to kill Clark, Jonathan, Chloe, Lex, and Lana.
