Anyone ever watch the BBC show "Keeping Up Appearences"? It is SO funny.

Anyone ever see my kryptonsite post "Keeping up Appearences"? It is SO boring.
Apparently.
No one hardly looked at it! That's gotta be some sort of record. Thirteen people opened it. And no one posted.
*Runs away to cry*
*Comes back to cry here, because no one looks at the post, so no one will see me crying anyway*

I watch it on PBS. They have a ton of different Britcoms on on Saturday night. And a few different ones on weekdays.
Keeping up appearences is my favorite though.:D

Yeah, it's a classic show. I forget the actress's name who plays Mrs. Bucket (Bouquet, ha ha). She's in another series now (though that may be done with too). It's a mystery show with Dominic Moignahan (sp?) as her side kick. It's good, but a little too much like an English Murder She Wrote for my tastes. Ever watch As Time Goes By (also a BBC comedy played on PBS Saturday nights sometimes)? It's very funny. I wish they still made it, but I guess Judi Dench doesn't have time for it now with all the movies she's making.

Yes I love that one too! They took it off our channel just recently though.

I honestly had no idea that some of our shows get shown in america, or at least not shows like that.
Chlois

Yeah, you can see them on PBS or BBC America (which is on cable tv which I don't have, boo hoo)
I love UK mystery/detective shows the best. I'd put Prime Suspect or Inspector Morse up against any of the most popular American stuff.
The sitcoms are great too. I used to like the Vicar of Dibley quite a bit, but the later shows don't seem as funny.

I don't have cable either. Nor sattelite.
Vicar of Dibley is funny, but it can get dirty at times.
Have you seen the show My Hero? That is so funny. It also can be dirty, but for the most part it's just a riot!

I haven't seen that one. What's it about?
Teen Chef

It's about a superhero from another planet. Sounds familiar... I wonder why?

Hmmm, I don't really like shows like that. JK.
I'll check it out.

You don't like superhero shows? Or the fact that it can sometimes be a little dirty? I don't usually like shows that can be partially dirty either, but nowadays you can't really get away from it. This one isn't always dirty, just once in a while.

I wasn't that keen on My Hero either, do they show father ted in america?
Teen Chef

Nope. At least not where I live.
How about "Are You Being Served"? That one is almost as funny as Keeping up Appearences.

Actually I was making a joke about not liking superhero shows. I like it if a show is sexy, and I don't mind a little dirty (that is dirty as in irreverent sex references), but I don't like it when it's consistently dirty with no point whatsoever except shock value. TV in the UK and in America is sort of headed that way, though.

My boyfriend was telling me about this show the other week, so they must show it somewhere.

Father Ted is definitely worth taking a look at. The guy from my hero is in it as well.

It's an older show. I think it's still funny though.

her facial expressions are to die for. the whole cast is great. i love rose. they have two rose though. i like the older one.
so many favorite episodes. anything with the vicor is funny. then the time they got a flat somewhere in the country. the place was so small that they hit their heads on the ceiling when waking up. then everyone got stuck in the kitche. then there was the time when hyacinth (sp?) went horseback riding.

Yeah. It's my favorite britcom. I love the one where Hyacinth wants to buy a house in the country, and ends up being chased by a heard of sheep.

Well, I was a little surprised to see this thread here. I saw the actress who plays Hyacinth, Patricia Routledge (a very well know actress from Birkenhead, that's my part of the world) in a one woman show in Greenwich about 8 years ago. She is hilarious and has a wonderful singing voice in real life. I also saw her playing Lady Bracknell in a stage version of "The Importance of Being Ernest" it wasn't exactly a stretch for her though. What's really funny about Hyacinth Bucket though is that that's how my Nan acts, especially over the 'phone. I hadn't realised that this show had an international following.

Dude i love Keaping up appearances!!
Good Ol' Mrs. Bucket, I mean Bucket (pronounces it correctly).
I just saw the episode where the neighborhood was being 'burgled' and Hyancinth gets Richard to install an alarm, which he hastily does as a late Anniversary gift.

I love that show! I live in the U.S., and me and one of my friends, have watched it for many years. :)
I like how she's so snooty, and ashamed of her white trash side of the family. That always cracks me up. Lol! :rotfl:
Poor Richard, I don't see how he could stand it. She was a freakin' nutjob. I would have either ran away, strangled her, or offed myself. Hahahahaha! :)
I'm glad some other people like it too.

This is great! I didn't realize so many people liked the show as much as I. I loved how she would try so hard to make things perfect and then get it "ruined." This show was so awesome.
