In the dreams of Lex Luthor, even though this was from lex's POV do you think that Clark Kent could have been Superman? I mean, without Lex Luthor is it possible for us to really have a Superman? Maybe, Lionel Luthor could've been Superman's worst enemy. By the way..it was a GREAT episode.

I think "enemies" are the furthest thing from what will cause or call Clark to be Superman.
mankind is the greatest enemy of mankind.

I see no reason why they would in fact show or mention or even hint at the fact that Clark would be Superman. This is Lex's dream and the fact that Clark is really just Clark, Lex wouldn't think he is Superman or Clark wouldn't show us that he was. Wrong life. Wrong reality. Not to mention, wrong person to think it. In my own opinion, Clark was as normal as any other human in this dream.
As far as do I think he was Superman? No, I don't. Taking place 7 years into the future, Superman was never around back when Lex was shot. The dream takes place 7 years later. He wouldn't make up Superman in his dream. The fact that Clark in the real world would be Superman, Lex's world wouldn't have it. Hince, Clark wouldn't be Superman, no matter how you tried to look at it.
Jeez, I hope that all sounds right. I feel like I just rambled on. Thanks for reading.

But was this just made up in Lex's head, or would this have really happened if Lex had gone down the right path?
I don't think Superman would be around by now anyway. It was when he first started his job as a reporter at the Daily Planet when he first started becoming Superman. And they mentioned that he just became a full fledged reporter in the show. So maybe Superman was just around the corner if this dream had continued.

I think I know what Kryptonstones is getting at - namely, *is this a real prediction of the future, or not?* If so, then chances are, Clark's Superman.
I think the episode left it ambiguous: yes, Clark is now working at the Daily Planet. On the other hand, he isn't with Lois, he isn't wearing glasses, and he doesn't exhibit any Superman-like behavior (i.e. suddenly dashing off to save the world).
I'd still say Clark is Superman in this sequence, except for his conversation with Lex on the porch. Lex asked him why Lana and Clark broke up, and Clark... completely failed to tell him. And not in a "'scuse me while I stumble around looking for a white lie" kind of way. He was like, "eh, I can't really remember, and it doesn't matter now."
So is he Superman? Maybe, but if so he's got better at lying.

I'm not convinced this was just a dream....if it were just a dream, how would Lex's mom appearing over his shoulder at the end fit in? It seems like it might have been more 'real' than just a dream.
If that were the case, I would think we should have got some nods to Clark being Superman....him wearing glasses, or leaving the party all of a sudden, or SOMETHING!

It just didn't sit right that Chloe and Clark were paired up... 7 Years from now is too long of a time not to have the Lois/Clark partnership at the planet.
Keep in mind that dialogue established this was taking place in 2012. Lex being shot 7 years back etc.
Which is the year where in Smallville's timeline Supes comes forward.

My personal guess is that this was a real prediction of what would really have happened. My main reason for saying this is that I don't think Lex would "imagine" Clark working for the Daily Planet. Sure, Clark has written for the Torch, been interested in writing about the caves etc. but I find it too convenient that Lex would be that accurate in his subconscious mind. Unless of course Clark's declared major at CKU is journalism, then that would all make sense. Does anyone know what his major is?
As far as Lois not being there, its been pretty well established that Lex's run for senate is a contributing factor to her interest in journalism. It would make sense that if Lex drops out of the race that Lois would never be a journalist and would fade out of Clark's life.
In the end, I think one of the themes of this episode is that we don't know what is real and what isn't. Was Lex's dream a real vision or not? Was Santa really Santa, or was he just some krypto-freak (or some other kind of freak) just playing Santa? Makes for a good epi I must say.

I think he WAS superman just by the conversation he has outside with lex. It woudl have been cool if they would have given him glasses or had him make a SUPERMAN exit if someone was in trouble. Just woudl have been cool and they could have justified it cause it was in the future or dream or whatever.

Clark was not SUPERMAN, because their was no Lois. She named him SUPERMAN.
You can't have SUPERMAN without Lois. You can't have Lois without SUPERMAN .

And THAT's what I didn't like about Lex's "dream": Clark was boring, lackluster, without his usual color, without personality. It was really upsetting to me to see Clark that way.
Thank you for explaining the fact that it was Lex's perceptions.
I was so grateful for the reality, outside the dream, parts... where Clark is colorful, good and beautiful without the extra golden-sun-life-is-wonderful setting. Clark/Superman doesn't need it.

The very fact that he wasn't wearing glasses makes me think he wasn't Superman. You notice that Jonathan was still alive, which was a contributing factor for him leaving smallville to pursue his destiny.
Good point about Lois' drive to become a reporter being based on Lex's run for senate.

"without Lex Luthor is it possible for us to really have a Superman"
I go with No. In this potential reality there is no reason for Clark to become Superman.
Clark has shown no interest in becoming Superman. He has actively fought against it. A continual threat to himself is needed for Clark to become Superman. That threat is most likely Lex. In the Lexmas' reality, there's no reason for Superman.
I fear that Clark is going to have to give up the same thing Lex does, personal intimacy. (At least at the beginning). They will both pay a heavy price for their decisions/destiny.
The Kawatchi legend of the two brothers intertwined, continually battling is their future.
Let the battles begin.
