I think what made this episode excellent was the two extremes of lex luthor's two options. On one hand he has this perfect life which he could have if he gives up the money and the power. So what if Lana was his wife, maybe it could have been someone else he fell in love with. The outcome was still his wife dying which ended this perfect life. Then you have other scenario were he chooses to keep the money and the power. Here his life isn't perfect and he ends up alone. Looking at both scenarios it's hard to make a decision, I sympathize with Lex. He truly is a tragic character, even I would have a hard time making a decision looking at things long term. I enjoyed the episode.

I honestly don't think his father would have reacted the way he did in the dream if lex gave the race to Mr. Kent.

The Lionel is a good Luthor and I think his dream was slightly distorted thinking his father would just turn his back on him, etc...

Remember back in solitude, Lionel was scared if Lex would win the race...
