Seems like Johnathan and Lionel are as good as dead. Guess those are the two people that will die.

Don't talk about spoilers outside of the spoiler page. Read the rules people.

Funny, Lex did the exact same thing with Lionel's life during the first episode of season 2.

Nice contrast between Lionel and Lex about what happens with risky surgery. Lex did it to Lionel and he thanked Lex for it, even though it costed Lionel his sight (until Prodigal). Lionel did it for Lex and Lex tore him apart for it. Both surgeries involved being able to walk again.

There was nothing to indicate malevolence on the part of Lionel in rushing Lex to Metropolis for surgery. It was a choice and it worked. Lex interpreted it strangely in my opinion. Lionel will die, but not Chloe. Jonathan may die also, but I am more inclined to Jor-el leaving the building.

Lionel is History . Lex is going to kill him, I'm sure of it now.

Lex would've lived without the surgery, but he wouldn't have been able to walk. (And people in those circumstances can have full lives.) The surgery to "fix" that was dangerous, and there was a very good chance Lex could've died from it. And, the way Lex saw it, Lionel would rather endanger Lex's life with a possibly risky surgery than have a "cripple" for a son. Or, really, "My dad would rather see me dead than in a wheelchair."
Maybe if they'd had a different kind of relationship, Lex would've seen Lionel's actions differently. But, under the circumstances, you can't blame Lex for interpretting Lionel's actions the way he did. And, if fact, I think Lex was kind of right.

I think Lionel was just helping his son avoid lawsuits from the X-Men. They have the copyright on bald men in wheelchairs.
And if you remember, Lex is actually a meteor freak himself. If I remember correctly, he has more healing powers than the average person because of that meteor blast he took as a kid. So, his odds in surgery are pretty decent.

Just because Lex seems to have some kind of healing factor doesn't mean Lionel then figured Lex had a better chance of surviving the surgery than most people. In fact, if that had been something he considered when making his decision, I think it would've been mentioned.

I thought of that too. I kept waiting for Lionel to say say, "Uh, son, didn't you..."
