So this whole dream is yet another part of Lex's "Daddy doesn't love me" psychosis?
Is this supposed to make his fall more sympathetic? He did it all out of love for his friends? 'Cuz I rather preferred it when it was a "power corrupts" theme.

Like I said in another thread, I'm sure I'll say this multiple times after this episode: I much prefer a sympathetic villain that I can relate to, rather some one-dimensional power monger. He's already been corrupted by the power, no need to dwell on that theme, now it's time to see why he allows himself to continue down a path that he obviously knows in his heart is wrong. This dream/fantasy is his sub conscious trying to work it out.

No, what it all boils down to, is no matter what, Lana kicks the bucket.

Ah, the Lana bash, gotta love it. Eh-hem, back on topic.
(PS: If you want to talk about Lana's demise, let's be realistic. What it all boils down to is, Lana dies when she's with Lex. This might not have happened were she not with Lex. Which is part of the reason that he decided to pursue that life. This does not = Lana dies no matter what. Sorry to dissappoint.)

I knew I would get grief about that. No, I really don't want anybody to die at all.
Lex is evil and I guess knowing how it all ends anyway kinda ruins it. If the idea and the concept of the show was original in the sense noone ever knew about Superman, his decision in the end would of been more shocking. I guess I'm more intrigued to see what dirt they're gonna make up on Pa Kent.

Lex has a messed up way of thinking. Instead of allowing life to flow naturally he wants to control it so it ends up exactly the way he wants it to.
People have already mentioned this, but its exactly like Anakin from Star Wars. Lex is using the fear of losing his loved ones as an excuse to gain ultimate power.
