Um... did anyone find the ending scene a bit unusual? After the scene with Clark and Pa Kent there was this strong sound, then the show ended. Those kinds of sounds are usually played when something serious happens or something is revealed etc..
Also the scene with Clark and Martha seemed like foreshadowing for the shows future. A taste of Smallville with Jonathan being out of the picture.

Yep. I got the same impression.
And, the scene between Lex and Lionel, I almost thought Lex was going to kill him right there.
Further backs up my J.K. and Lionel dying theory.

I believe the sound is from the movie Blade Runner.

Things also aren't looking too good for Chloe either, its like her destiny is to get Lois into journalism, and then after that......I have feeling something really bad is gonna happen to her!

that was an awesome scene, lex looked like he was gonna strangle lionel for a second, then he let go. great scene, wouldn't expect anything less from JG/MR:D

God, Lex was so ticked! It wouldn't have surprised me if he tried, but he would have only proved Lionel right if he went all "mad dog killer" on him right after Lionel tells him that he is a "fragile man" and he doesn't want to see him "shattered" again from his "delusions".

Looking back on this episode, I'd say that it was definetely foreshadowing.
