No Lana=Perfection.

I don't think it's boring, but it is odd to leave out characters that could have some place in each episode. I don't get that one myself, it makes the character's lose their significance. Even if they make some lame excuse, "she was all the way in school, and this happened so fast that she couldn't make it"; just doesn't sit well with me, for all I care she could have just been on the phone with him or just sitting there caring for her. Same goes for Ma Kent when she gets left out or anyone for that matter. I realize there is only so much time, but still, come oooooooooonnn...Come oooooonnnnn.

Yea this is the second episode this season with no Lana. I dont think(besides this season) there was one epsiode without Lana. I hate when theres no Lana.

Also, Id say this episode did move alittle slow, and lacked action, but the fight in the Fortress made up for that I think. The end really picked up. I still liked "Splinter" more, but this was a good one.

Miss Lang really had no purpose in this episode(not that she really does any other time, either). What good would she have done? Drag the story down like she always does?

As much as I love Kristin, I'm no longer that interested in the Clana thing. Actually, I prefer Lana to be the girl Clark adored from a far without ever actually getting, like in the Reeve movies. I think it builds a lot more character than a highschool/college sneaking out of the bedroom so the folks don't catch ya kind of relationship. However, it does seem odd that Lana seems much less significant ever since she and Clark got BACK together. She was more involved last season, when they were broken up! Clark seems closer than ever to Chloe, while Lana sometimes shows up only as kissy background or to pick on Lex.

I have a feeling Lana will be a huge part of the series from here on out. Most likely her camera time was taken up by Brainiac so now that he's gone she should see a lot more screen time.

I agree that KK was definitely missed. Good episode but the show didn't feel complete because she wasn't there.

smallville_fetish
11-17-2005, 11:30 PM
Yeah no Lana made me sad. Because that means no Clana progress. I don't think she drags the story down, only when they give her pointless stories like the one in Thirst. And she's becoming more significant now that she's back with Clark. They're setting her up to know his secret because she deserves at least that throughout their on-off relationship; she should know why that was.

"clark if your mom is dying at least call your girlfriend and tell her about it"

lol. Yeah I guess she wouldn't fit in it like she didn't fit in Exposed or Aqua really. But at least she WAS in Aqua and mentioned in Exposed.

She must still be in the hospitol. Poor girl. Just wait till she gets out and finds the spaceship is gone.

They should do a power reveal for Clark by doing an Episode where Lana finds out all his stuff but then they kiss and he accidentally erases her memory.

im glad lois lame was in it....what's her role in the show?....and how many more episodes to go for her? it's like LEAVE OR DIE ALREADY!

yes lana was needed in this episode...she was suppose to comfort clark..but NOO chloe had to be there instead. anyways im thinking this all happen because of kristins movie Partition.

I didn't even notice Lana wasn't in the episode. Not until someone mentioned it. I would've notice if there was some purpose in the story for her character, but there wasn't.

Of course, if you're a big Lana/KK fan, you'll miss her character when she isn't in an episode. We all want to see our favorite characters on the shows we love. But, as others have said, the character really wasn't needed for this storyline.

I'd rather have a character left out of the episode than give her some contrived part in it....like...um ....Lois...having said that, I did love it when Lex asked her why she is so angry...

If you're mother had three hours to live, would you call your boyfriend/girlfriend? I'd either be at her side or out searching for someway to find a cure.

Please, there are other topics about Lana not being in an episode. Come on, she's been in all 92/94 episodes on Smallville. We can live without her for 2, IMO.

I can't see how a show about Clark's and Lex's journey can't be boring without none of those characters, especially on a episode about Krypton's mythology.

unPTC

Also, even though Lana wasn't in this episode, an element of her storyline was advanced, namely the ship disappearing and Lex wondering what happened ....

Exactly. And It's not like Clark could tell Lana his mom had a Kryptonian diseases possibly as a result of his dead alien father bringing him back to life. She might get suspicious.

This assumes Lana can actually THINK

With so many commercials, we could speculate that Clark did talk to Lana about it at one point. Lana just never made it to the Kent house to see Martha (or was asked by Clark to stay away because "maybe she's contagious, we don't know yet...")

Funny thing, I noticed Shelby was in the ep long before I realized Lana was not.

"the Chloe Show?" I LOVE that idea :D

Any ep without Lana is great. She rarely contributes anything of value and her character itself is insipid and boring and outright nasty at times, just like in the comics. This was a great ep and Lana not only had nothing to do with it but would have bogged it down. I wouldn't miss her if she never came back because her screen time takes away from the focus of this show. Lana isn't all important and has no business being made the reason for so much, including any furthering of the split between Clark and Lex. That's completely lame.

Episode was still good, although i'd prefer Lana. At least I could see one attractive woman.

margroks
11-18-2005, 11:44 AM
Chloe is quite beautiful and very attractive. SO are the other girls in their own way but they can't carry the ep and exposit the way Chloe can. That's why eps falter when they rely on Lana or Lois to move the plot.

This was the second episode without the Pink Pwincess, huh? And for the second time, I didn't notice until someone told me. What does *that* tell you? Lana is just a one dimensional, boring, condescending, ignoramus B**** that I am beginning to hate her more then I hated Lionel in Season 3. If she were to die, I would laugh and throw a HUGE PARTY! I only watch one network show a week what with Star Trek Enterprise gone, and that show is :D Smallville :D. For anything else, I turn to HBO. NBC, CBS, and ABC (along with FOX <OK, I watch the Simpsons now and then, but it's often inconsistent in quality>) can all sink in quicksand....

Lana wasn't in this episode because she is filming a movie. Sorry you didn't like that, but Kristin has a career and besides, as has been said she wasn't needed for this episode. I like Lana as much as the next person, but you commited a mortal sin that makes me find you very...distasteful. That sin is bashing. I don't like it when people Lana bash, so why would I like it when people Chloe bash? If you like one character more than the other, more power to you, but quit the bashing!

That includes all the Lois bashes in this thread too. It's like reading a high school girl's diary about who she does and doesn't like. While it's okay to have likes and dislikes, you bashers are doing what a teenage girl would do: insulting and degrading. Time to grow up.

Just like how he and others are sick of seeing the same repetitive post on Lana bashing or any bashing for that matter. It really is getting old and pointless. (And maybe because you're new, you havn't been on here long enough to count every 98435 hatred threads for every episode aired. You'd probably post the same thing because it's frustrating when people discuss about the same thing over and over again as if it's stuff that hasn't already been said before) You start a war, you're in for a lose-lose situation no matter what because everyone has different opinions and this show wasn't design specifically for your likings.

This applies to everyone; If you're a Lana fan, Chloe fan, Lois fan, or Lex fan, you don't want to read about someone bashing your favorite charecter and saying mean things about them and how they should die violently. It shouldn't have to be this stressful because you feel obligated to stand up for that charecter you like because someone wants to be rude and funny.

We're all entitled to our own opinion but that doesn't mean you shouldn't respect someone elses'. If you like someone, another person probably hates them and visa versa so bashing in general is uncalled for. Come on, we're all on the same team, or at least I think so because I enjoy this show, don't you? And I sure don't go out of my way to hate a charecter and announce it to the whole world as if anyone cares or that if it's anyones' business to begin with.

I think the title of this post "why was it boring" fits this whole thread very well if we're going to continue this adolescent fit. Thanks for the heads up Kryptonsite Administrator.

I didn't find it "heartwarming" it was nice but to me the heartwarming moment was when Martha told her son that she would gladly sacrifice herself for him, and how he had grown into a wonderful man and that he would do just fine. THAT was heartwarming. Chlark was more "hearthwarming" hehehe, I jest. It was nice though I had a Twilight Zone moment because I was drinking hot cocoa with my feline in my lap at the time.

As for the lack of Lana, as I said on the other thread that got closed if memory serves, no one besides Clark honestly NEEDS to be in every episode, though to me any episode without Lex would be blasphemous though I could more than a little biased. It was a good episode, well written, well acted and very smooth, which is refreshing when you take into consideration other episodes that weren't even half as good or entertaining.

I really noticed Lana AND Martha's abscence in "Exposed" but I still enjoyed the episode (though I know many disagree) however I didn't seem to notice she wasn't there until the end. "Huh, no Lana again? That's odd." I imagine it probably is because she is busy, but honestly I was too preoccupied with the goings on of the rest of the characters to notice much.

Hahahaha! I can't even begin to tear this post apart. Let's just go straight to the facts.

1) I've never copy/pasted a single post. Read them instead of skimming them just to see that someone is defending the character you hate then bashing them, and you might see that.

2) Spam is useless off-topic garbage. Basically your attacks on me are spam.

3) If you'll notice, I defended Chloe, Lana, and Lois equally in this thread. I don't really have a favorite character, I just hate the bashers. Bashing is not a good way to get your opinion across and I think it degrades KryptonSite to horribly immature levels when people do it.

4) Haters. That's all I've got to say. You said it yourself. Haters. You're hating a character on a TV show. I've always said that it's your right to do so. However, I do not feel it's anyone's right to bash a character repeatedly and constantly. Oddly enough, lots of people like Lana. But guess who has the loudest voice because we continue to let them post hate-filled posts that often don't only insult the character, but insult the actor and the fan-base as well? Lana-haters.

-----------------------------------

Thank you to all of KryptonSite who's come to my side on this. I think most of us can agree that all we want is a friendly place to discuss, argue, and have fun, without having to worry about hate-filled posts and personal attacks. Lana-hating is one thing, Lana-bashing is another. While I disagree with anyone who chooses to hate, I do not have a problem with them until they start bashing and degrading a character, actor, and/or fanbase.
