Did they use the "Lois and Clark" Daily Planet as the template for the current setup where Chloe works?

I don't think we ever got to see the basement of the Lois and Clark Daily Planet, and that's all we have really gotten to see (other than the chick that hired Chloe...'s office) in the Smallville one.

There are a lot of similarities but I don't know if it was L&C or just the comics.
