I really, really enjoyed this episode for so many different reasons, but there was just one thing that bugged me about it...
I didn’t really like the fact that Lana didn’t say anything about the spaceship to Clark in the hospital room. I know that she’s entitled to her secrets, considering Clark has kept plenty from her, but here’s what I don’t get. First of all, it makes her angry when Clark keeps things from her, so why would she do it to him? Second of all, he already knows that she’s seen the spaceship, why wouldn’t she just tell him that she wasn’t imagining it? I don’t really see any reason why she shouldn’t tell Clark, especially considering Lex knows about it; if she’ll trust Lex she should have no problem trusting the man she loves. Anyway, all of this time we figured the end of their relationship would be because of Clark keeping secrets, but maybe in the end both of them will be to blame.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe she didn't say anything because Lex only trusted her and didn't trust Clark enough to tell him.

i never realized that and this thread title is funny

How does Clark know she saw a spaceship?
CLEARLY though, Clark knows something. Professor Fine is a kryptonian, so he must have a ship.

he knows because she told him she thought she saw one at the end of arrival when they were in the hospital

Figures...so do you think the writers are basically telling us..."Clark knows Lana is keeping something but he is waiting on her to tell him?"

I know, she should have told him. What is she worried about now? Why does she keep keeping secrets from Clark.
1. She killed Genevieve Teague
2. She is now looking for the origin of the meteors
3. The Spaceship that Lex showed her
They are starting to stack up

Lana's keeping the secret of Lex possesing the spaceship from Clark because it makes her feel special.
She's used to feeling special:
- she was the poor orphan girl who lost her parents and was on the cover of Time
- all the boys loved her (probably a freak Kryptonite-induced ability)
- As a Freshman cheerleader the star upperclassman quarterback was her boyfriend
- Clark worships her no matter what (see the Kryptonite necklace above)
- Billionaire Lex Luthor wants her
Now Clark, he is special. He puts everyone and everything ahead of himself, except for hiding the fact that he's an alien. He keeps secrets because of the consequences to himself and family of the world knowing about him, and he's seen how it can be dangerous to his friends. And Pa Kent has beat secrecy of his abilities into Clark's head for 15 years. Now I would rather that he tell Lana, but he has valid reasons to not yet trust her.
I see a breakup coming, but certainly can't blame Clark.

Umm, who says clark doesn't trust her? Secondly, what reasons are there not to trust her? Maybe she thinks that Clark would think she nuts. As for the GT thing, there is no reason for her to tell him about that. Clark has killed before and told no one. I don't know why she's researching meteors and not telling him. It actually doesn't make sense at all, maybe she thinks he'll see her differently. But yes, these are the building blocks to a break up.

I love how Lana burst into Lex's study, and immediately went into her old 'secrets and lies' routine, but within a scene she had another major secret of her own that she's going to keep from Clark.
She's getting more deceitful as the story progresses, isn't she?

It just makes her hypocritcal. I think she meant everything in the hospital room, except for the last thing she said. It doesn't make any sense why she would keep that from Clark. Maybe she thinks it's okay, because he keeps secrets.

yes, and it will be their secrets that probably end the relationship . . .

Yep and it's a shame, because they do truly love each other.

Well, Clark just went psycho on her because of seeing she and lex together, maybe that's why she didn't tell him.

I'm seeing that and thinking "what a heck of a stance on which to base a relationship!" Lies, Lies, and more Lies.
But then the fact that Lana would even allow Clark in the room after nearly killing her...."meteor rock" or not, how can the girl look at him with love in her eyes and heart when this guy practically ripped them out of her? Oh, yeah, she was also Lanabel, Witch Queen of the Farm Boy...nevermind.
It DOES drive Lex nuts, doesn't it? He wants the princess and can't buy his way into her heart.....nyahhh nyaahhh nyaaahh

Lana keeping secrets from Clark and Clark keeping secrets from Lana is clearly being set-up as the reason they break up. The only good thing I can see about Lana not sharing the space ship and her partnership with Lex is it means that both will be equally responsible for the failure of their relationship instead of it totally being on Clark. Lana's secret partnership with Lex will be a nice parallel to Clark's partnership with Chloe.

i would like to see a scene in a future episode where clark sees lana near the spaceship then asks her a question about whether she knows about it and her lieing to him. That would assure clark to trust her less.

yeeahh...:)
Third parties are not going to be the reason for the break-up. They are going to break-up because they just don't trust each other.

I agree. Clark will find out Lana is lying and he'll break it off from that.

Its not that she is lying to him , she has/will partner up seemingly with Lex which will be the last straw for CK.

No; this is the farthest thing from real love I've ever seen. She wants attention from and control over her boyfriends. She ragged on the others for keeping secrets and not giving her the attention and control she has to have because she considers it her right as the worshiped Princess of Smallville.
SHe considers it her right to keep secrets and she has from the day she threw in with the Luthors, letting them cover up a murder for her because she wasn't willing to admit it and take any consequences, unwilling to bet she's be exhonerated if it was really self defense. It's all about Lana all the time.
Lana has cheated on her previous boyfriends, running to Clark and using him as her back-up when she felt her actual boyfriends weren't paying her enough attetnion, even if it was because his father might be dying. She's a nasty self centered spoiled little girl and completely unworthy of the hero's attention. While we, the audience, have seen more of her nasty behavior, Clark's seen enough to know he shouldn't be trusted.
ANd, as he told Chloe, he knows Lana wouldn't accept him. So we have Clark lying to her about himself so he can screw her, a very nasty turn for a supposed hero and Lana lying from day one about her involvement with the Luthor's and her murder of her previous boyfriend's mother. I will have no sympathy at all for Clark when he is betrayed by his horrible little love interest. He brought it on himself and deserves the consequences for his actions.
He has repeatedly said he knows he's not the guy for her and claimed to have grown up and accepted himself but this shows he has more self loathing than anything else to willingly pursue a girl who's hate him if she knew who he really was. That makes no sense. The whole fixation on a girl who hates different makes him look stupid and paints the "hero" in a very bad light.

It's understandable why Lana would keep secrets from Clark. Why should she decide to trust him with something this big when he won't even tell her stuff that she's entitled to know (like the fact that she slept with an alien)? Since Lana told Clark in "Arrival" I could imagine Clark's response later being "Oh, you were probably just imagining things." Clark would want to cover up the spaceship because he doesn't want to risk exposing his identity. That's why she goes to Lex in this episode because he actually wants to find out about the spaceship and he tells her everything that he knows about it, unlike Clark.
