First off yeah I know this was all a nod back to the Dukes of Hazard.

Anyways the way they set up the story we are to believe that the two of these guys used to be young trouble makers, racing around in their sports car etc etc... Now that they are all grown up he reveals to his friend that his marriage is a sham and he's in love with a stripper. Sure that's a lot of news to swallow but given the types of friends the story paints them to have been not the kind of news you would expect Jonathan to just drop the guy cold. It's true they make up in the end but the suddenness and strength of Jonathan's anger seems out of kilter with the "bad boys" image they try to paint the two of them as having been.

I think he over did it on purpose, to try and scare some morals back into him. I think that also, the writers might have been desperate, they did not seem to have a good reason for the senator to quit, but they needed him to, plotwise.

Jonathan is like that. He expects the best from everyone. And if you are good friends, you tell your friends when they are doing wrong as a way to improve them. That was all that Jonathan was doing. Do you reall think that he would have said, "Ok, man, great. You're in love with a stripper over half your age, super. I support your life decision."

I agree: Jonathon is a man of very strong morals, he thinks that his advice helps and in most cases it does

Jonathan is a fuddy duddy. I loved it when Lex called him on his Holier than thou attitude.

Heck, I wouldn't care about that part if the guy weren't married.

Being against adultery is not being a "fuddy duddy"

If he had responded in any other way it would have been totally inconsistent with his character. Having high moral ideals is not being a "fuddy duddy".
