Is anyone else getting sick of the repeated back and forth we have been getting between Clark and Lex? They keep teasing the fallout, especially with what happened in Mortal. It is really starting to bug me, that they keep having Clark say that the friendship is over, and how he is always going on about the type of person Lex has become, yet he can't stop hanging out with him or asking him for help.
Either make them become friends again and save the final fallout for the end of the show, or make them stay away from each other.
The constant on again/off again relationship they have going on right now is driving me nuts.

I'm not adament about that, however, now that you mention it, it is getting a bit tiresome. I believe you are right. They should go one way or the other. It seems silly that Clark continues to go to the mansion and Lex continues to lend a hand here and there.

Yeah, it is driving me insane, too, and I'm a Lex fan. I love him, and have been dreading his going evil for a long time. But ... it's time. Just stop the interaction between the two. However, then you wouldn't have very much connection with the plot points. So it's a fine line they have to walk with the Clex.

I agree.
Clark - "This episode I'll come to you - first accusing you - for help and after its over, we'll have a sit down and have a buddies-like "chit chat"... but don't get used to it, cause next week I'm gonna side against you and barge in, saying I hate your guts/don't trust you/and we'll never be friends again. Oh, and next week is when I get exposed to Silver K so I'll be wanting to kill you in the rage that arose from my disallusioned mind telling me that you and Lana are doing it behind my back........ [you aren't, are you??].
But hey, don't look so down Lex... I'll be back in a couple weeks to be your buddy, when I need a favor again."

It is good to know that some people agree. The Clex used to be the best part of the show for me. It is originally what made want to tune in to see the Pilot. I mean, two future enemies, as best friends early on... Great twist to the overall story. Now I think they are laying it on a bit too thick. The reason it is often hard to buy some of the things that the writers set in motion, is because they never have the guts to back up their initial decisions. They had the fight in Mortal. Stick with the fall out.

yeah, but clark still needs lex to do him favors. and lex just wants to have a friend(also, the closer he stays to clark, the more likely he is to discover his secret) so really, their relationship still has a point to it. that is, that they both need something from the other, in essence they're only using one another. which i think is a pretty good evolution to their relationship. once it was a friendship, now its merely about what they can get from one another. thats why it keeps going back and forth, because clark will always need lex's help for something and lex will always want to know clarks secret. so i think it's a logical progression in their relationship, and i one that brings them one step closer to being enemies.
so their friendship has been wittled down to one of convenience rather than the actual friendship they had years earlier.

It could be the fact clark just wants to see a little good in lex from time to time. He always looks for the good in people, maybe he is hoping lex will change?

I think there is still a battle going on inside of Lex and Clark is the only person keeping him from giving up the fight. Once the friendship is really over (like if he finds out he was right about Clark) then we'll see the evil Lex.
On Clark's side he is always looking for the good in people, thats just who he is. He's trying to keep Lex honest by questioning him. He's not quite sure who the real Lex is, probably why he's reseaching Lex Corp. But that can only go on for so long.
