Why, when Clark or Jonathan make snarky comments to Lex's face, do I feel bad for him? Just a couple of weeks ago Lex was totally enjoying torturing AguaMan. His sadistic side was on display. But when Clark says something painful he looks truly wounded, especially if that time he was innocent of that particular deed. But he is most certainly capable of doing evil things. Yet,
I feel for him. Will the time come when I hate him, when we should all hate him? I am and will always be loyal to Superman
and Clark, so why am I conflicted about Lex?

Lex's characterization has been a bit uneven recently. It is kinda weird how he was relly evil and sadistic in Aqua and now he's back to being good half the time. I know what you mean in feeling sorry for Lex, it's probably because Clark has been an ******* to him in the past few episodes. Sure he has reason to be suspicious of Lex, but barging in after weeks of not talking to him and automatically accusing him without a hello or letting him explain? Come on...and I think we're starting to see the break of friendship from Lex's POV. He's tired of Clark always assuming he's behind everything and so the more ppl treat him like a bad guy the more bad he'll become.

That means Superman creates his bigger villian, which is a true irony.

Yeah, I feel bad for him too. I just see Jonathan Kent as a huge jackass who basically judges Lex on his Luthor name. Clark is becoming his father and I guess that's supposed to be shown as a good thing from a moral standpoint. It's just annoying for me. I used to not mind Clark asking for favors because they were friends. Now he's being a jackass then asking for favors.

I agree with some of your points. Let's face it, Lex hasn't done much to prove to Clark that he can be trustworthy, after Clark discovered Lex's room that was a twisted mantle to all things Kent. However, I feel bad for Lex because he came to Clark and told him how he's slipping into his dark side, and Clark pulled away rather than trying to be there for him. As Lex put it, he sees the break in their friendship as Clark's fault. "You were the one who drew the line for our friendship" or something this episode. It's sad. Clark is going to help create his greatest enemy, by not being the type of man that he will eventually become later.

Johnathon should give lex a break. Lex bought back the farm for the kents in the 2nd episode of the 3rd season, Jonh stood in lexes wedding in the season two finale, and lex saved Johns life in the season two opener. I mean without lex John would be either dead or broke, and sure you could say that the reason the reporter new about clark in the season one finale was because of lex but john doesn't no that

Also if iwas was clark and lana or cloe were giving me a hard time like they've done in the past i'd be like I've saved your life too many times to count, if it wasnt for me you'd be dead so shut up the game is on

Clana has already had the "Good Sex" so there's no more need for "Bad Lex."

I just realized something. What made Jonathan go back to disliking Lex so much? If I remember correctly him and Martha were actually defending Lex's actions throughout Season 4. And as far as we know Clark never told them that Lex set everything up in Mortal.

Coz he's brilliant and complex, and it shows in his struggle to ignore the call of the Dark Side.... LOL.

Seriously, he's a well-drawn character. He could be pulled in either direction, and in season 4 and early season 5 it looked like the good side was slowly losing the battle.

I commented on this a few times already, but Lex wasn't being that evil to Aqua Man. AC PLANNED TO DESTROY A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR MILITARY DEAL. Lex knew he would be capable if he gave him water, and would ruin it for him. When AC became hydrated, the first thing he did was ruin Lex's project.

I would of done the same thing if I was in Lex's situation.

Yes, tying up and torturing someone is common place among the multinacional businessman.

He wasn't torturing him. Little cruel to him, yes. But not torturing. And I honestly don't believe Lex knew leaving him without water would kill him. He may have looked weak yes, but Lex didn't know enough about AC to deduct he can't survive without water. Even so, his behavior was awefully different from the way Lex usually acts. And it's not b/c Clark or anyone else wasn't around, we've seen him tamer when he's all by himself or even with Lionel. It's like the director of Aqua told Michael to go a little more over-the-top for some reason. And when someone else took over they had him go back to the subtle route, which I very much prefer. Lex shouldn't be Onyx-like until Clark becomes Superman.
