View Full Version : Why is immortality and super strength such a bad thing?

When Lana wanted to turn Clark into a vampire, he tells her that she's simply sick. Then, at the end of the episode, it's stated that all of the vampire girls were cured.

Since when did having the powers of immortality and super strength become a sickness? I'd gladly pay the price of drinking human blood in exchange for never being able to die.

Am I the only one who'd be super pissed off if some nerdy farmboy decided to "cure" me of my immortality and take away my variety of super powers?

So you'd live forever and watch all of your loved ones die and keep dying over the centuries? ;)

Lana had a disease and was killing people becuase she needed blood to survive. That sure is a great way to spend eternity. ;)

Is there something wrong with that? Death is inevitable, so I'd just accept their deaths, and continue moving on with my life and make new friends every 50 years or so. I could always turn my favorite loved ones into vampires, too.

Why is it just because vampires feed on the blood of humans to live, it means they're evil or have some kind of disease? Most people kill and eat animals (cows, chickens, etc.) for sustenance, but we don't consider meat-eaters to be evil or diseased. Why is there a double standard for vampires? After all, humans are inferior to vampires just like cows and chickens are inferior to humans.

If you can't tell, I have a slight obsession with immortality and characters from various works of fiction who are immortal, which is why my user name is Vandal Savage.

Yes, but the animals are killed first before eaten. Not to say it isn't bad, but it's better than having the blood sucked out of your neck. I have nothing against vampires, I love them, but when that power is in the possesion of a bunch of giggly, sex-crazed, teenage girls?

I can see what you're saying; these sorority girls did lack the elegance of other vampires, like Count Dracula. But on the other hand, I really wouldn't mind spending eternity with "a bunch of giggly, sex-crazed, teenage girls." ;)

Yeah it would be kinda cool. None of that evil undead stereotype hanging over your head like with mythicalvampires... I'm game !

If Conner Mcleod of the clan Mcleod can do it why would it be so hard to live forever?

What if your favorite loved ones didn't want to become vampires? Would you still try to make them immortal...

And I think part of the reason Vampires are seen as bad/evil is because of how they terrorize their victims... People begging for their lives, begging the vamps to not do what they're about to do and the vamps still do it.

If they chose to stay mortal and die, then I'd respect their wishes and let them live out their pitiful mortal lives while I gain so much knowledge and wisdom living through the centuries. :D

I'm sure if they could, cows and chickens would beg for their lives and not to be eaten, but we still eat them anyway.

But that's the thing, they can't.. Humans CAN communicate and express their feelings with words so there's no misinterpreting anything.
