I like him, but I can't help from saying 'that SOB' at the same time.
The real Lex Luthor is here.

Evil Lex makes me miss Lionel as the main villain.
Now there was a villain with class and charm.

I LOVED his smirk after the "pitchfork" remark. I was gushing like a little school girl. Evil Lex is sexy. But not too likeable, yet!

you know it's gonna get intense when Lex and Lionel go after Fine and Clark for digging into Lexcorp's shady dealings

See, this is where I think people get confused. Lex isn't evil, he's just being manipulative and caniving and sneaky, which is EXACTLY what we've seen from him for the past 4 seasons, only this year, it's much more intense.
There's still a long way to go.
yeah, I wouldn't consider him evil just yet. He is manipulative, though.

Well I DO NOT THINK that Lex is evil... he never gets evil.. he's indifferent.. i mean he doesn't do things when ultimate reason for him to do it is thats its the EVIL thing to do... I dont know if people remember the statement he made about "Sageeth".. like the real lex luthor not the point at which lex is now in smallville.. he see's things differently he see's himself as a hero... keeping superman in check... and he also has a hunger for power and money.. which is when his indifference towards collateral damage and maybe even lack of a conscience makes him more efficient.. does the fact that i see this clearly.... make me seem evil?
:p

I just wish they'd make him a little more smooth and intelligent and a little less "bwhahahahaha!" He had some seriously cheesy lines tonight.

The reason, I think, that evil Lex is coming off as a little pathetic is that he's still taking it on the chin from Clark. He did say something to the affect of "The days of your barging in and lecturing me are over", but at the end it was still Clark coming in and berating Lex and Lex sitting there and basically taking it. How about "Get the heck outta my house you stupid farmboy!"
I like evil Lex, but I'm tired of him wussing out to Clark.

Lex held Aquaman captive, leaving him strapped down in the compound to die of thirst!
The fact that he didn't even offer Aquaman a small glass of Kool-Aid makes him evil in my book

Im thinking when Lex is drugging, torturing AC by dehydration and enyoying it, that that is perphaps a bit on the evil side NO?!

They just all of a sudden said go Michael Rosenbaum, become the evil Lex now! And then it happened, not that much progression! We've had a few things to make Lex turn evil, but whatever I prefer the evil manipulative Lex. Michael Rosenbaum has now become the best Lex Luthor ever, but the character knows too much about Clark!

Lex Luthor is such a badass. The torture of Aquaman is probably one of the best things I have ever seen on Smallville, and that includes various exposed portions of Lana/Lois/Alicia/Random Chick flesh.
Of course, I'm all about the villains. I'm always pleased to see them acting as they're supposed to act.

Yeah, Lex is definitely like, WHOA, this season.
And MBCorp, I miss Lionel as the main villian, too! I mean, I thought they had better got going on making Lex evil, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. He's not the same. He's not as suave and cunning as he usually is, he's just becomng cruel. I want to see him be more like early-seasons Lionel!
But yes, I agree, he's not COMPLETELY evil. He's obviously still hung up over Clark. Young love never dies...

I loved it when Lex said that to Clark, and seriously, I wanted him to tell Clark (and A.C.) to GET OUT!! And the last scene, when Clark asks Lex if he ever thinks about where he's heading, Lex has this look on his face like, "are you serious?" I thought he was going to ask him to leave then and there, but they had him remain quiet again. I just have to think that's part of him - playing it cool, keeping it under control.
Because my gosh, he has patience!

Good lord a quadruple post! :D
Er, regarding the Lex gone evil thing, I totally see the progression. S4 was him as mostly bad, with some vestiges of trying to stay friends with Clark. As if he was clinging to it. Now, he's more like trying not to think about it. I still think part of his still wishes for continued friendship with Clark. Because let's face it, who else is his friend right now? Who of all people have been a friend to Lex? Clark. Even Lana and Chloe have steered clear of Lex, and not really seeing what Clark sees in Lex.
So at this point I can still see a glint of humanity still in Lex, but it's fading fast.

Eh, personally I think that they've lightswitched him to a cartoon type villain.

I think that he is definitely drifting to the side of evil because in the past when his dealings affected people, jobs, etc. he was concerned. Now he was like, there are tons of fish in the sea. He has definitely changed sides.

what do you mean he's not evil he's like one step away from being one of those silent movie villans who twirls there mustache and ties a screaming girl on the train tracks. He tourtred aquaman, I mean come on torture is an evil thing to do he dinied the man some water even though his lips were all ashy and crusty, now to me that is the ultimate evil.

I agree that MR is the best Lex ever. I wouldn't give up on him too quickly. Even when Clark is Superman he doesn't give up the hope that Lex can be redeemed. I suspect we'll see something that brings them somewhat gingerly back together this season.

I love Michael as Lex, but I miss his restraint. I think he's playing the character a little broader since "Onyx," which I thought was a really clever way to bring out the more evil side of Lex.
What I miss is the ambiguity. In fact, the Professor Fine character reminds me a lot of the old Lex. Isn't the Lex Luthor character in the comics supposed to be popular w/ the public -- still very ambiguous? Evil underneath, but charming on the surface.
Don't get me wrong. Michael still rocks.

Lex didn't just turn evil overnight, and his evilness now is finally a good indication that the writers are getting smart.
Lex has suspected Clark was different from the beginning. When the meteor shower hit, he swears he saw Clark and Chloe pass through the cave, then later finds Chloe in a hospital in the Yukon. Clark lies to his face about the whole incident, and Lex knows that Clark has always been lying to him. Then he sees Clark bleed, and is now confused and more obsessed than ever.
FINALLY!! If Lex was truly as smart as he is supposed to be, this should have happened seasons ago.

I really like Evil Lex because it finally seems like he is the villain from the comics that we all know. Especially with Clark telling Lex that he defended him and Lex look surprised and then smiled pompously as Clark left which normally he would be pensive. I LOVED that and it reminded me of the blatantly mailicious Lex that was featured in LnC, who through it all almost seemed self convinced that he was the savior and Superman was the villain.
