i dont think he flew..

first of all.. it seems as though he jumps because his knees are still bent when he is in the air... plus.. if he could fly.. couldnt he have just steered the entire spaceship in another direction?
im sure he now has the ability to fly, but i dont think he knows how to yet.. thats why he didnt fly..
