Chapter 12

Clark wrapped a protective arm around Lana’s waist and lifted gently into the air. Lana’s breath caught as she watched the ground fall farther and farther from her feet, “Clark this is amazing, your amazing I mean.” He beamed; nothing had ever felt so nice as her acceptance of him. His smile deepened and he pulled her in to his chest, “Stay close and you’ll be safe, I need to go much faster now.” Lana nuzzled into his crisp tuxedo shirt and breathed in the freshest air to ever grace her lungs. Her mouth gaped as she felt herself slice through clouds and gravity alike. She attempted to watch the world shrink before her eyes but found it was happening faster then her brain could process.

“Lana, look.” She pried her eyes off the glowing earth to find herself hovering in nothingness; the massive moon shimmering before her, “Can’t beat this view!” Clark held his gaze steady on face relishing the soft moonlight glowing on her shoulders, His eyes rememorized ever curve of her body, noted every detail of her face. ‘Something is different about her now… her eyes are full of wisdom now… her forehead…’ His eyes traced every crease on her brow, ‘It tells of all the grief I put her through. She may have a new air of maturity about her now, but I can see she is still My Angel Bear.’ He settled in to watch the moon dancing on her eyes, alongside with her beauty for as long as she permitted “I agree. I wouldn’t trade this view for the world.”

He nearly forgot to not breathe when she squeezed his waist in a familiar way, and let her head fall to his chest, “Are you tired?” Lana shook her head gently, I have been tired for six years… No I’m not tired anymore, I’m finally at peace.”

“In that case.” Lana hugged tighter as the Moon’s surface grew steadily closer until her feet sent up a small dust cloud that quickly settled back down, “Do you have to keep us on the surface? How does this work?” Clark shrugged sightly, “It comes as easy as breathing, I suppose I am forcing our weight down somewhat… I hadn’t thought of it before.” Lana took a small step away from him but found her followed her move before she could blink. “Lana I don’t know how far my shield reaches. And I’m not sure you could survive…” Lana’s eyes smiled back at him, “I know, the moon get’s below -150 at night, thanks for the concern… being a Lana-sickle was not on my to do list for the evening.”

Clark chuckled lightly and offered her his hands, “I am hoping a dance was?” Lana brushed his hands aside and wrapped her arms around his neck instead. Clark swallowed dramatically as her eager face lingered inches from his own, “I am afraid Club Luna doesn’t come fit with a DJ… or anything for that matter.” “I suppose it doesn’t… but I do…” Lana’s eyes fluttered apprehensively before her dulcet tones filled his ears with bliss



Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,

Her voice fluttered to a stop, “I’m sorry I havn’t sung for you in so long… I’m nervous… and this song well it has so much meaning for me… for us…” Clark cut into her nervous stammering, “I’ve often sung this song to you in my dreams.” He ran a hand over her flushed cheek before continuing the song himself

Lana held his gaze as they swayed in time to Clark’s Voice, not even noticing his occasional out of tune glitches, they drifted across the moon, brilliant dust swirling around them as their feet gently kicked up fragments of Meteor particles over and over again.

Lana’s voice chimed in finally. Blending in with Clarks in a perfectly sweet harmony

Their voices seemed to hang in the air momentarily before drifting of into the great unknown.

Lana vaguely noticed the steam from her breath float a few feet before hitting an invisible wall and turning into brilliant drops of ice.

The dreamy couple danced in intimate circles, lost to the world, each lost in their own thoughts.

Lana started out of her daydream when she felt Clark’s Muscles begin to ripple beneath her fingertips. He looked worriedly for the cause of her distress and found her staring hard at his chest. “Clark.. your uhm, well your literally bursting at the seams!” Clark stretched languidly as sunlight swiftly spread across their bodies, “Ya sorry, that happens the closer I get to the sun… It’s kinda my power source.” Lana visibly relaxed, “Nothing to apologize for,” She forced her eyes away from his tempting body and forced her self to stare at a pile of rocks in the near distance, “Really.”

“None the less if I ruin this tux Trodelli Will have my head! Are you okay if we head back now?” Lana took one last look around her before wrapping her arms around his waist, staring down at Earth she quietly expressed her gratitude, “Thank you.. so much, you in and of yourself are all I ever want with total devotion… and yet some how you manage to go beyond my wildest dreams, you bring me inexplicable joy. While I would love to stay here, to enjoy the solitude of your attention, I know there is so much waiting for us back down there.. so yes you may absolutely take me home.” Clark happily swept her up and meandered their way back to Metropolis.

OK this has been driving me crazy! And I know it is going to confuse some readers, for that I am sorry . But I wrote the proposal in with out thinking and it is messing up the entire idea that I had so if this fic is to continue then that paragraph has to go! Chapter 13


The couple barely registered their re-entrance to the garden's labrinth of green walls and hushed fountains,as their eyes were locked together in a dance of their own. Lana searched this stranger's eyes while enjoying being suspended by his delicious arms, and the savory chest they were attached to. Clark held his breath as he felt his inner self being interogated by her crystalline eyes. An uncomfortable shift in his demeanor sent her mind into new thoughts, 'Parts of you that I used to know... seem but a stranger to me now... Is he still the same man I love in my past? ... and so many new things about him that are foreign to me. There! That steelly glaze that comes in and out of his eyes... is he still the man I love in my dreams?...' She involuntarily flinched when his entire being suddenly went rock hard and his eyes focused just over her head.

Lana quickly followed his gaze. She visibly startled when a little man came tearing around the corner. "Miss Smaaaalll! Where are you!!! Elizabe.!" The small man jumped back when he almost plowed head first into a substantially large man.

"Frank!" called out lana, more than a little suprised at the interruption. "Ms. Small! Seeing lana in the arms of this massive brute Mr. Frank went into action, "Oh no you don't, you terrible man!" Frank began jumping up and down swatting at Clark's head with the only thing he had at hand, Lana's overecoat.

Having assesed there was no danger, Clark looked down at the balding firecracker with suprise, "Hey! Stop it! Knock it off!" Clark's booming voice sent the man running behind the nearby greenery. Lana looked back up at Clark and they shared a giggle over Frank's poor rescue attempt. "When their amusment simmered down Clark let Lana down to her feet."

"Frank! I'm ok! Come here!" Lana stiffled another laugh as a head not so full of hair peeked around the hedge. "Come on! I want to introduce you to... an old friend. Frank this is Clark Kent. Clark this is my nosey secretary, Frank."

Frank looked on timidly, "I.. I'm so sorry, I, we have been searching for Ms. Small for hours, I thought... well I thought you had ill intentions. Truly I'm sorry... Mr. Kent" Taking Franks hand Clark smiled genuinely, "I commend your bravery Frank, but no apology is neccessary. And please call me Clark." "Oh, yes of course. Nice to meet you Mr. Kent."

Lana rolled her eyes at the stubborn man, "Frank why are you out here anyways?" He shot her a look that could have wilted a houseplant, "Because Mr. Luthor is curious to the whereabout's of his most honored guest!"
Shooting 'Mr. Kent' a doubtful glare he added, "And there isn't a man present who isn't expressing their desire to speak one on one with you about your thriving business, and how they might invest as well." Under his breath he added not so quietly, "I wouldn't be surprised to find many of them with engagement rings in their pockets... just in case."

Lana's cheeks blushed deeply, "Well then Frank, CLARK and I were just getting .. reaquanted... be a dear and call off the search? I am sure Clark will escort me back to the party safely." Clark stepped up beside her, and simultaneously removed her coat from Frank's fist, "That would be my greatest pleasure." Clarks fingers brushed gently over her shoulders, as he slid the soft coat over them, sending blissful pulses through her body. Her voice called out, musky with distraction, "Go away Frank.. now."

Clark chuckled softly as Frank turned on his heels and stomped off with an obviously bruised ego, "Well, you keep a short leash don't you!" Lana tore her eyes from his face momentarily, to see an orange head bobbing away, "Honestly? No... that terrible little monster rules over my schedule with a ferocious diligence."

Clark offered her an arm with which she gladly entwind her own before they stepped off at a leisurely pace. "So Elizabeth.." ... "Clark?" they both stopped to look at the other, "Yes" they spoke in unison again. "You first!" ... "Go ahead," Clark smiled and gestured his free hand for her to continue. Lana shrugged it off, "No no, come, you first."

Clark was no match for her determination so he obliged, "I was just going to offer you an apology... It seems that you are one and the same with a certain Elizabeth Small that was repeatedly stood up by a certain reporter from The Daily Planet." Recognition washed over her face, "YOU! It was you!! Oh Clark! How could you not come!" Her half-hearted whack across the chest, (with her free hand of course) left his eyes bulging, "Lana I'm sorry! I didn't know!" But my card!! Didn't you get my card?!" How could you not recognize my maiden name!" He flinched slightly expecting another whack, "Well when coupled with your middle name. ... And maiden name?! It's Henry's last name! How was I supposed to know you were using it?!"

Her mouth moved in short quips trying to find a viable come-back,"Well after the accident he came by the farm on a regular basis to help with my re-cooperation, anyways, we have become very close so... but the point is... Clark what if you hadn't, for whatever reason, come tonight?!"

They stared into each others eyes, each with similar thoughts, 'To have so nearly missed you and never know it...' "It's beyond comprehension for me..." She buried her head against his chest. "I almost unknowingly lost you... again," He ran a hand over her thick tresses almost as much to comfort his own frayed feelings as hers.

"Aaaahem!!!" Lana whipped her head around and growled at the beady little eyes peeking through a nearby bush, "Go away I said!! Go away before I fire you, you... you rude little man!" Clark squeezed her hand gently as she began to start towards Frank, "Allow me." He stretched himself to his full height and advanced one menacing step forward. Before Frank jumped and ran for the nearby throbs of music, before he had gone two more steps clark had him dangling by the back of his red velvet coat, "I suggest sir, that you listen to your boss, I wouldn't want to find out you had gone against her wishes or anything..." He gave a small bounce that sent the poor man's hair whisping in every direction but down, "Do you catch my drift... Frank?"

Frank stared frozen at the mass of a man holding him aloft with such terror that Lana was sure he was thinking that Clark might just eat him for dinner. "Yes, yes sir mister K.. ah Clark. Understood. Pplease just..." Clark placed him on his feet and pretended to brush some dust from Franks gaudy coat, "Well that's more like it," He chuckled as Frank darted for the safety of the building. Clarks tongue squeezed between his teeth as a smile spread over his lips, "I don't think he'll be bothering you again... well at least not tonight." Lana looked down in thought, "For my own sake I hope you're right."


Walking on slowly, Clark changed the subject, "So your question?" Lana swung her gaze up to his, "Hmm?" A gust of wind sent her hair flying across her face. Her hand raised to sweep it out of her eyes but Clark beat her there. With tender care he tucked a handful behind her ear, "I was just saying, earlier I thought you had a question for me." Completely distracted by the fact that his fingers were still tucking small whisps of hair behind her ear, she managed a mumble, "Later, we can..." His fingers grazing her ear once again sufficed to remove all coherent thoughts from her grasp.

Instinctively she leaned into his hand. Clark's hand met her movement on their own accord. His eyes widened as he watched his own hand skim to the back of her neck. His breath quickened as his gaze glided to her closed eyes. Memorizing the small way they were quivering in obvious expectancy, he found his own mind fading to a dense buzz.

Lana rolled her neck against his warm hand, her skin warming as his breath swam over her up-turned face. Her mouth parted slightly as his lips brushed against her own. She found herself teasing him slightly as he advanced, pulling away just as his mouth sought to envelope hers. Returning the favor, he turned his face slightly as she made an advance of her own, they nuzzled cheek to cheek for just a moment. Not to be thwarted again Lana gently nibbled across his jawbone, reaching his chin she quickly captured his lower lip. They lost all control of bearing as a sea of ecstasy washed over their souls. When Clarks hands browsed down her back, coming to rest at the small of her back she nearly bit his lip to keep from groaning. When his hands went on further to enwrap her waist and pull her snuggly against himself she simply lost any traces of thought she had left, and became solely focused on devouring his soft lips.

Not realizing her desperation for air Lana fainted, her forehead coming to rest against Clark's chin. Clark breathed heavily against her perspiring forehead. It took a moment for the fact that he was supporting Lana's full weight to sink into his saturated thoughts. But as soon as they did he sprang into motion. He sent a gentle breeze of ice breath across her face. She responded immediately with a small shake of the head and a confused hand over her brow.

Her eyes fluttered open and were filled with the sight of Clark's worried face, "What..." the torrent of emotions from a moment ago flooded back into her thoughts and she leaned in eagerly, "More." Clark ran a hand over her forehead, "Lahmuh.. " He fought for control as she sent him soaring again to the moon. He fought for every coherent thought, speaking in short intervals between kisses, "Mm La... Iaa..... cwoo... mmmave... hwt ew.

Lana reluctantly pulled a few inches away, "No... could... never hurt... me.." She hungrily eyed his pouting lips.. "It.. my own fault.. I forget breath... won't again..." Not convinced Clark shook his head gently, What if you do forget.. or worse, if I forget to let you..." "Clark, please I have been.." suckling on his lower lip for a brief second she paused... "waiting for you to kiss me breathless for so long... please.. I promise .. pl" She never finished her plea as Clark took it upon himself to mute its intended ending.
