Just when I thought things were looking better Lana in the first two episodes we have these wildly uneven scens in Hidden:

1 - Caught in the Kent home -- that's the Lana we were starting to see -- she steps forward and makes the most reasonable statement when confronted by Ma and Pa Kent while Clark stands in the background noddiing in agreement...(Clark and I made this decision together....)

2 - Keeping her cool with Lex...still going strong as in first scene...sidestepped the question of whether she had told Clark of the spaceship deftly...

3 - Clark's bedside - oooh...starting to backslide...like she knew when she was 5 or 6 (the first time she saw Clark) he could make her happier than anyone? but ok, this is as good a moment as any to introduce her concern for Clark's safety as a reason for holding back...I'll let it go...

4 - Seeing a resurrected Clark...this was a reasonable scene..but totally diminished but what comes (or doesn't come) after between them...I'm guessing it's likely to be the last romantic scene between them for a while...

5 - Lex won't let her off the hook - Ok, how does she get Clark's med file? And she read it herself?? Preposterous? And the fact that she expresses no curiosity about how Clark returned from death suggests that she's about to get into some heavy denial from this point on...back to silly, dumb Lana...

Not to mention, what bloody reason would lana have for visiting Lex at that particular moment? It seems like there were a lot more pressing matters for Lana than confronting Lex. (spending time with her newly resurrected dead boyfriend, Near nuclear incineration of her hometown, her best friend killing an old school chum, talking with the kents about that little "sex" thing.)
Also, it was a little ludicrous for Lana to insist that Clark was "normal" and "just the same as you and me", right after Clark had been raised from the dead (as Lex pointed out).

The only reason for this scene that I can figure out is the writers needed a setup for later Lexana interactions and the raw scene was moved from another episode and tailored to fit "Hidden" (poorly).

The spoken rationalization for the scene was probably that it "mirrored the other ludicrous conversation between Clark and Chloe" where Chole pointed out that Clark was seriously deluded if he thought he could maintain a relationship with Lana without telling her about himself.
It was sort of nice hearing lex and Chloe finally say a few of the unbelievably obvious things they haven't said before now. And it was unfortunately true to character for both Clark and Lana to be in serious denial. Still, both scenes fell a little flat because, frankly, making Clark and Lana both that STUPID makes the show MUCH less enjoyable to watch.

Both scenes would have made infinitely more sense if the writers had included FIFTEEN SECONDS of dialog about how difficult it was for Lana and Clark to talk together after all that happened. That would have been a completely understandable outcome of the day and would have justified both Clark and Lana's reactions. Lacking those few words, both Lana and Clark seem a little crazy and self-involved.
