I might be a little slow on this one...but is Jor-el still in Lionel or is Lionel Lionel again. He seemed like he had no interest at what happened to him, so is that just jorel playing along?? Please help me!!

That is what i was thinking, is lionel back, or is jor-el going to stick around and watch clark.
My money is on the latter....

It could go either way. Jor-El may be out of him or dormant. On the other hand he may still be in control and can spy on Lex. Wouldn't that be great! I think that no matter what Jor-El will use Lionel again.

I really like the idea of Jor-el being lionel. It gives a reason for Lionel to stick around (since I love John Glover) and it is something that I never expected.

I think Jor-El is still in there somewhere, too. The "real" Lionel wouldn't have shrugged off reports of his own strange behavior -- he'd want to know WHY he was carving that symbol. He'd want to know WHY he wrote those symbols on the walls in his cell. He's want to know WHY the crystal made him go koo-koo for Cocoa Puffs (TM). Jor-El, by contrast, would seek to steer people away from those mysteries.

Yah Jor-El being around to help Clark out would be great PLUS we hopefully get to see Superman's dad as well because I think that Jor El. Superman's dad as in: He can fly and teach Clark tricks and so on on how to use the superpowers...after Al Gough and Millar did say that S5 was Superman in Training season :D

Lionel knows a lot more than he lets on. I think the next time Lionel stumbles into Clark he will drop some sorta cryptic line.

Oh yes

im hoping jor el is still in his body atleast a little bit longer cause it gives john glover more to work with cause lionel luthor is starting to fade as the bad guy and lex is become the evil villan.

Yah, for the extra intrigues and it'd leave us as viewers and Clark puzzled about it. Excellent!

So the question remains if this is a cheaper way for TPTB to have Clark/Jor-El diolog by not needing the voice talent of the great Terrence Stamp anymore? Is Mr. Stamp finished on the show?

long live Lion-El!

I assumed that jor-el meant he was the one clark sacrificed to bring him back, so jor-el is gone.

If jor-el is still in lionel then someone will die and this should be interesting to see lionel/jor-el.

My theory is that it's like Lana and Isobel last season (only WAY COOLER!) :). Lionel, I think, is back right now, but when Jor-El needs to use him or utilize his body for Clark, then he will inhabit his body, just like when Isobel inhabited Lana's (by the way, I know most of you will think I'm crazy for saying this, but the Isobel storyline ended up being pretty damn cool, but it's not nearly as promising as this Lion-EL storyline.) :)

OH! Everybody! My mom just came up with a GREAT prediction about what will happen with Lionel/Jor-El-Clark-Lex triangle. Maybe Jor-El (in the form of Lionel's body) will start to appear with Clark at different places and try to teach him things. Lex will be spying on Clark, because now he's crossed the line, and will see Lionel and Clark together, bonding. He'll become envious (since his father has never bonded with him, and assumingly, may never bond with him in the near future). He will pry and ask Lionel why he's hanging around Clark. "Are you after the same answers as I am, Dad? Why else would you be bonding with the boy?" He may ask something along those lines, and Lionel will not know what Lex is talking about (because Jor-El will leave his body and then reinhabit it when necessary, I think). Lex will grow increasingly frustrated and want to destroy any relationship his father has with Clark. Any comments on this prediction? Don't know if it'll happen, but it'd definitely set up a dramatic hatred in Lex for Clark and a deeper hatred for Lionel.

That's a good theory. Lex'll be pissed.

I was thinking the same thing!! That would definitely push Lex into hating Clark more and really split them up, plus it would raise more questions from Lana.

well they did need to explian what happened to lionel some way. maybe terrence was unable to do the voice over or something i dont know. i dont think it would be cheaper cause all they do is talk in a microphone and play the recording later like with cartoons. it might be cheaper cause then they wouldnt have to pay more for wardrobe or anything. i think somewhere they would have mentioned weather or not he was no longer on the show but i mean eventually jor el comes back cuase he is around in the superman movies and so is lara so maybe they will bring her in at some point. also the crystals are like memory holders so when clark puts one in then you will her jor el speak.

Glad to see you guys like the theory. I hope something like that really happens. Lex would be so infuriated! :) While Evil Lex would be almost fully emerged by then, maybe we'd get to see those last glimpses of his vulnerability, and his desire for love from his father.

Eh,Man?You-El?

FYI, The name "Lionel" for Lex's father was introduced in a Superboy comic during the 60's and was used for Les'x father's name in several other situations (notably in "Lois and Clark").

Ostensibly, Jor-El merged with Lionel when the Water/Transference Stone in his pocket glowed during the argument with Lex in "Commencement". However, Lionel had been in contact with the stone before, in "Transference", when his character changed. Even then, people were theorizing that Jor-El had merged with Lionel. Now it seems likely that Jor-El has been influencing Lionel ever since "Transference". His character at the end of "Hidden" was practicaly "Jolly".
The reaction of Lex to the transformation before was suspicion but also a growing tenderness. That theme will probably continue with the newly infused Jor-El character.
As far as theories go, What do yuo think will happen to Lionel (and Lex's relationship to him) AFTER the Jor-El entity leaves him? (Jor-El WILL leave him at some point)
Me, I think Lex will be faced with the raw viciousness of his father once again and will be somewhat repulsed by it. At the same time, Lex will find out that all the "niceness" he'd seen in his father over the previous year was an alien influence and Lex will be thouroghly enraged and frightened by that. Lex will also see how that alien influence was consistently protecting Clark even at the risk of Lex's life and he will become furious about that.

I think Jor-El is controlling lionel now.

I think Lionel's body is avalible for Jor-El for whenever he wants to use it. And whenever he does, Lionel won't be able to remember.

Maybe Lion-El will see that Lex is a superior choice for a world-dominator, and will have Clark's powers transferred to him?

Not likely ... but would be cool.

I think Jor-El is gone for good. That he sacraficed himself permanently.

I don't think he gone permanetly, he maybe gone for now but he will show up after all he is in the first movie and mentioned and sometimes seen in the comics.
