View Full Version : Lex blackmailing Lana?

I along with a lot of others wondered why Lana would hand over Clark's file to Lex. However, what if Lex is blackmailing Lana based on the fact that he covered up Genevive's death - hence the "you owe me" note from "L" in the paper at the end of Arrival. That is the only thing that I could think as to why Lana would hand over the file. It does make a lot of sense though.

I agree. Lana would never do it if she was under some kind of influence.

when clark finds out, he's gonna be pissed...probably will lead to the end of the lana/clark relationship.

Nah, she's only trying to protect him. He'll want to kill Lex though. I can't wait to see it.

how is snooping in clark's business for lex protecting clark? she's protecting herself.

Clark told her "no more secrets, no more lies." Clark probably told Lana about his fight with lex, and Lana is just proving to Lex that he is wrong, that Clark is human.

I thought that at first, that Lana was just trying to prove that Clark is normal as well. But if you think about it, Lana did seem like she was there against her will handing over the file, and it ties in with the mysterious note in the paper at the end of Arrival.

Well, I can't really say that, that couldn't be true, because it could. But seriously, if you were in her situation, what would you do? And also, Lana tells him "I heard you asked for it at the hospital." when she hands over the file, this leads to say that Lex didn't ask for it.

However,

If he was asking for it at the hospital and couldn't get it, he would use his influence over Lana to blackmail her into getting it for him. They would be more likely to release that information to a family member or Clark's girlfriend than Lex.

Lana didn't get the records to help clark. It's not like if lex hadn't asked for them, she was about to get the records herself, to prove to lex that clark was normal. We'll see if lana tells clark that she went to get his records for lex. If she wanted to protect clark, she wouldn't associate with lex anymore.

Not necissarily. If they stop talking to Lex altogether, that could make Lex even more determined to find out the truth.

@ vyperman

If Lex expected the files from Lana, he wouldn't have said "These are confidential" when she handed them over. He would have said something like "Good work."

Lex is more determined than ever to find out the truth, with or without the records. Unless lana tells clark that she's been seeing lex and that she gave him records, then clark's gonna be mad.

That was really creepy when Lana found Lex in her apartment going through her stuff. BAD LEX!

I think that Lana has been very angry at Lex since Commencement. At this point, she does not trust him at all. It makes the most sense to me that she heard what Lex did in Mortal, then she heard that he wanted to see Clark's file - so she got it to prove that Clark is totally normal so that he will leave them alone. But yes, I think that she has doubts about Clark herself which will lead to the end of the Clana relationship.

I do love this more mature, vivacious, and strong Lana. Lana in Season 2 would not have been this angry to Lex. She would not have thrown that file in his face.

Anyone else think that it could have been blackmail?

It wasn't blackmail, if it was there would be no debate about it. Lana somehow heard that Lex was trying to sneakily get ahold of Clark's medical records. It's likely Clark told Lana all about what happened when he fought Lex; that Lex was testing him to see if he was normal. So an angry Lana basically threw Clark's medical records at Lex as proof that he was normal so that he would leave Clark alone. Of course Lex used the opportunity to sow seeds of doubt into her head thanks to Clark's inexplicable recoverery.

I do think lana fears the "you owe me" message from lex so yes it is blackmail even if lex doesn't outright ask her to. It's intimidation (hello showing up uninvited in her loft!) and lana is definitely looking out for herself.
