Well, not always, but any time Jor-El communicates with Clark, I want it to be through Lionel from now on. John Glover was absolutely *amazing* as Jor-El. Lionel/Jor-El rocks! :)
Actually, this brings me to another question. Is Lionel still a potential oracle, or did all that power leave him? I hope he still has some of that potential because as I said John Glover is an amazing Jor-El.

I don't know whether the Lionel/Oracle will return, but did notice as he was speaking to Kal-El/Clark he put both his hands on his lapels of that dark coat of his.
If you saw the first Superman movie, Marlon Brando did that hands on the lapel gesture when speaking to the councel regarding the impeding destruction of Kyrpton.
Definitely a wink and nod to the late great Marlon Brando who played Jor-El!!
I suggest you watch the movie to see what I mean.
All of them IMO are great actors even the veterans.

I've seen the Supes movie, though I can't say I noticed the nod to it in this episode. Too bad it'll be a while before we get to see it again. :(

i think that was cool that lionel was jor el. hopefully it lasts a while. maybe he will stay a while to help clark thru stuff at anytime and not just when he is in the FOS.

John Glover has a nice accent in his voice as Jor El. Very nice indeed, I thought Lionel was Brainiac at first.

"jor-el" or "lionel" said that he would always be a vessel when clark was needed the most, so i guess that means that yup, hes still an oracle

I guess I'm the only one who would have preferred Jor-el's voice in the FOS instead of Lionel. I don't know, that scene just kind of felt strange to me with Lionel telling Clark what his choices were and calling him son.

I enjoy hearing Terrence Stamp's voice as Jor-El, but John Glover's such an amazing actor, it was a welcome change. I'm sure we'll hear the old Jor-El again, but in the meantime, I kind of like Lion-El! You know what will be really interesting? If Lion-El approaches Clark in the barn or something, and says "I love you" to him again...and if Lex happens to overhear/see this. Can you imagine what poor Lexy would be thinking?
Lex: Whaaaa? Daddy loves HIM but not ME?!

They should save that for the finale. :rotfl:

Personally I'm very torn on this. I really liked Terrance Stamps voice (and lord willing we'll hear it again). But I really thought this was a cool way to have Jor-El Communicate. It would certainly make it easier on TPTB for when they need Jor-El in the episode by Mr. Stamp is busy.
The way I see it with Lion-El's return is this... either
A) We'll never see it again, because Clark doesn't need him now that he has powers... or
B) Lionel will continue to swith between himself and Jor-El as the season goes on until Lionel's use is finished (perhaps Lex Kills him?) at which point Terrance Stamp will return as 'Jor-El's voice in the cave'.

Hah, "Lion-El", I do enjoy that! :D
I do believe that Lionel will soon meet his demise, especially if Jor-El has no further use for him, as then he'll have no purpose on the show.
Although I do believe that Lex may kill Lionel if he finds out that he's inhabited by Jor-El, as a means to cut off Clark's communication link.
So what will become the official term for Jor-El and Lionel interaction?
Jor-Nel?
JorLion-El?
Jiorn-El?
Lorn-El?
MBor-El?

Lion-El is my personal favorite.
Although you can only type it, you can't speak it, otherwise it sounds like your'e just talking about Lionel.
How about Lion dash El?

How about Lion dash El? MBor-El has a nice ring to it. I also like Jorlion-El, Jorli for short.

I don't think we will ever see Lion-El again. It was just a plot point to rap up Lionel's season finale cliff-hanger. I really liked it! John Glover and the sound effects, that I'm sure tweaked his voice some, were amazing.

I don't get it, where does the MB come from? Lionel's name is Lionel Luthor and the actor that plays him is John Glover. Where's the MBor-El one come from?
Oh yes that, it's nickname for Lionel around here.
It means Magnificent B*stard.
The * is an a.
Yes I know I'm trying skirt the filters but Midgard needed some clarification.

Oh. Personally I don't think Lionel's been the MB much in the past two seasons. Last season's conversion to "only sort of evil" seems to have stuck. I think his status as Oracle will make him a little closer to the side of "good" too.

Just to chime in, I totally agree that Lionel was awesome as an oracle of sorts for Jor-El. The voice I would not have recognized as Lionel if I hadn't been watching Glover speak. Just fantastic versatility on his part.
Really, if you would have told me in the first few season of Smallville Lionel would be such an incredible character I wouldn't have believed you.

My guess about the whole Lionel/Jor-El thing is this: Jor-El is still in possesion of Lionel and since he's inhabiting Lionel, he has possession of all his memories/thoughts/etc. So Jor-El is mearly playing the part of Lionel to keep up apperences, get information, watch Clark's back, and maybe to entertain himself (I mean come on, he can't stay locked up in FOS forever). But the real question is, is Lionel is alive in there?

Lionel has fulfilled his purpose as Jor-el's vessel.
It's time for the return of the MB!

I'm just going to call "them" Jor-Lionel. Nothing too fancy.
BTW, yeah I mention the whole hands on his coat/clothes, movie Jor-El reference when I first saw the preview on Yahoo TV. Thought it was very cool. Also it let me knew, without a doubt, it was really Jor-El, and not Brainiac, Zod, etc... like others guess.

I noticed that gesture too and put it down to Jor-El taking on some of Lionel's mannerisms. But after what you said, I realise you're right; I remember Brando's gesture well and see its the same as Glover's.
I dont know what to make of the Lionel/Jor-El symbiote. My current theory is that Lionel doesn't know about Kal-El and Krypton but suspects something is up with him. But then, surely he would've had some kind of reaction when Lex mentioned them, as well as the symbol. Argh! I can't wait for the next episode!!!
