We all know about the new movie coming out in 35 datys, but who is your fav member of the wizarding society?

My favorite character is Tom Riddle/Voldemort but seeing as its not an option I went with Fred and George

My favorites are Hermione, Harry, Ron, Luna, Neville, Tom Riddle (in HBP), Ginny, Lupin, Fred & George, and *sniff* Dumbledore.

I can't pick a favorite! I love them all! :p

My favorite character would have to be Ginny.

Coolies! I didn't think this would attract that much attention!

There wouldn't be a series with Harry, of course. So I picked my fav not considering Harry, and that would be Sirius. Could've been a great character if she hadn't killed him off:eek: . I'll be watching to see how she developes the twins in the last book. They're great and have a lot that can be done with their characters. Unless f course she has Harry bring Sirius back through the Arch.

Where is the option for all? lol. Or Tom Riddle/Voldemort? It is so hard to choose in the Potterverse. My number one on this poll I chose Lupin because I love how sweet, caring he is. He is the calm of the Maruaders and stayed that way. Someday I hope JKR releases a prequel of the HP books because I'm really interested in Lupin's story. I mean who knows what the poor guy felt when he thought Sirius killed James, Lily, and Peter that most tragic night.

Not regarding this poll due to CoS and HBP I absolutely adore the villian Tom Riddle/Voldemort. I just think he is so interesting and compelling as villian. I love how she parallels Riddle to Harry. Then it would be Harry, then Hermoine.

MBCorp
10-14-2005, 06:06 PM
I agree, Tom Riddle in HBP was awesome, I seriously would have been tempted to pick him if he was on the poll. I chose Hermione, but I pretty much love all of them equally.

Summers

Me too. If Tom was on the poll, then honestly I would pick the him lol.

MBCorp

The idea of a Lupin book sounds cool and something that I'd like to see, but I think I'd also like to see a book about Tom Riddle's past. I know we saw important parts of his past in HBP, but it would still be interesting if she fleshed it out into a book of its own.

Summers
10-14-2005, 06:22 PM
How about Tom Riddle and the Death Eaters story? Since there was leap from the time Tom killed the woman from Knockturn Alley to when he arrived to ask Dumbledore for a teaching job for DADA.

MBCorp
10-14-2005, 06:38 PM
Yeah, that would be a really interesting idea since we didn't get to see that period of his life in the book. I'm interested to find out how he gained his followers and what he was doing in those years in between.

Summers
10-14-2005, 06:44 PM
Hmm...Dumbledore explained how he got followers. I mean he emphasized the similarity with Riddle's distant friends at Hogwarts. It's just escaping me.

I just find the whole idea of prequels of HP just fanasting because there is such richness to it. I mean we know JKR has some of it already written.

I can't wait for HBP movie just to see Tom Riddle again :rotfl:. Weird, usually the bad guy type isn't my type .

MBCorp
10-14-2005, 07:04 PM
Heh, I usually like bad guys best. *points at avatar*

Oh, I love the idea of HP prequels. There's so many characters with fascinating backstories. The Marauders, Dumbledore, Tom Riddle, etc. Heck, I wouldn't even mind seeing a prequel about Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.:p JKR just can't abandon the HP universe after the 7th book!

Dumbledore explained about the followers? Okay, I'm going to have to do a reread of HBP...

Torgo

I voted Snape. Tough call though, as there aren't exactly many characters I don't like.

We all know JK won't be writing prequels unless she has a massive change of heart. But unless the last book has some huge ommisions, there really shouldn't be any need for them.

Yea, he did in one of the flashback chapters. I don't remember which one, but he does touch on the subject.

Actually during the summer JK has said that the 7th book wouldn't be the end. She said readers can read the history of the Wizard world, and the characters we know through the means of an encyclopedia type of book. She also alluded that the 7th book may not be the end at all in novel format.

I wouldn't be surprised if prequels happened because writers continuely writing until they have no desire to. It's not about the need for prequels. It's just interesting to see how it began is all. JKR wrote the beginning all down practically, so she could start on SS. It's not about need. It's more about curiousity.

And now... the ultimate question: Is Severus Snape good or bad?

Steppenwolf
10-17-2005, 11:14 AM
Here we go again...Bad, I think he's giving the impression of some allegiance because he's always appeared to protect Harry. It seems to me that a plausible explanation of Dumbledore's confidence in Snape would be that he made an unbreakable vow in regards to Harry. As he had done with Draco. That wouldn't have protected Dumbledore of course. Could be that Dumbledore realized it at the end, in his plea to Snape on the tower, but it was too late. Of course this is all based on info so far. Anything can be introduced in the final book that will, undoubtably, blow this theory apart:rolleyes:

Summers
10-18-2005, 09:19 PM
This is one debate I'll never go into because what will happen will happen. There is enough evidence IMO on both theories.

MBCorp
10-18-2005, 09:51 PM
I go along with the Snape-is-really-good theory myself, but yeah, it could go either way. That tricky JKR! ;)

angelfire east
10-18-2005, 10:10 PM
So do I, there just a few to many little hints that he's good. I can't wait to find out which theory is right:D

Steppenwolf
10-19-2005, 08:08 AM
Wouldn't at all be surprised to find out that Rawlings hadn't made up her mind until the final book. Either way I think he'll be dead at the end of it all, either a fallen deamon or a Potter martyr.

I picked Snape... he's a wonderful example of a richly drawn character full of complexity & back story. As for the debate, I'm really hoping that he'll either turn out to be good in the end OR he'll discover the error in his ways. Especially since most of his actions come from the fact that he was picked on & made fun of so severly as a child.

Ha nobody likes Draco!

Actually, Rowling said once that so many fanfictions and fan sites pop up for Draco, usually depicting him as a badass antihero, and she's a little dismayed because she never meant for him to be a sympathetic character. It's like, "Am I a bad writer or something? What's with you people?"

Hermione rulz. Emma Watson was on the Today show yesterday and joked how nobody got her name right before the movie. Some thought it was 'Hermi-1', as in the number.:\

Hermione's the best. She always has the answer to whatever the three of them are trying to figure out. I love how she can be quite sarcastic too. There are more reasons I like her but I can't really fit them into words.

Hermione or Harry. Harry because.. well he's Harry mutha****in Potter! Hermione after the 2nd year. That bold mouth of hers while she was a little girl was annoying. In the house I was brought up in she wouldn't have survived.

Why has no one said Neville?

And Im glad no one put up that murderer Voldemort *shudders*. That is walking evil. Always taking away someone important from Harry's life.. It's all that frustration. Someone buy our dear Lord Voldemort a hooker or something. sheesh!

I've been reading all over that Snape is probably good. If you look at what the Avada Kedavra curse does when it hits a person in all cases except Dumbledore the person/animal just falls to the ground dead. Using the disarming spell the person is thrown into the air. Dumbledore was thrown into the air. Barty Crouch Jr. also said that you need to put a lot of thought into using Avada Kedavra. The 6th book was also big about nonverbal spells. What if what Snape actually did to Dumbledore was a nonverbal expelliarmus and after said Avada Kedavra?

Any news on when 7 comes out...I'm hoping for J.K. Rowling to make it over 1000 pgs as to not leave anything unresolved.

katt12
03-15-2006, 01:01 PM
If it is over 1000 pages, it'll probably be a while before it comes out. The HBP just came out last year, so I'm guessing a year or two. Just my personal prediction, though.
Involving Dumbldore being alive, J.K. has said that Dumbledore is dead for sure. I've been thinking, though, and there might be a possibility of Snape being good. The binding spell Bellatrix put on him and Narcissa probably forced him to kill Dumbledore whether he wanted to or not. If Snape is good, he most likely did not believe it'd come to that.
Anyway, on the topic of the poll, my fave characters are Harry and Lupin! :D

I voted Ron! I have always felt like I can relate to Ron. I hate spiders just like Ron, and my family is kind of poor. not as bad as Ron but not as good as Harry either. and in the Goblet of Fire book where Ron is mad at Harry because his name came out of the Goblet and he thinks Harry gets all of the attention, I understand how Ron felt because I know how it feels to have a friend who gets all of the attention, and how it feels to be left out and ignored by the rest of the crowd. Ron is the best!!!

I voted for Fred & George.
I just think that they want to have fun, so if they can't find it, or if it isn't as fun as it should be, they make their own fun.

But Harry Potter is my favorite besides the mischevious twins!

I voted for Dumbledore. I love how he treats everyone like an equal, and has no odd, eccentric sort of personality. He has the best one-liners, and through all that, is one of the most powerful wizards.

Gotta say Harry. He's sweet and gentle, but at times he can be somewhat shy and quiet. I can relate to him in lots of ways. We both wear glasses, and often I feel vulnerable in certain situations like he does. I've read all the books, and I liked them all except number 5.

Honestly, I can't sit and pick just one character. They all contribute to the awesomeness of Harry Potter in some way. Although I do like Dumbledore a lot...he's just so wise, yet some of his dialogue and banter just cracks me up! Ironically, I just finished the sixth book.........................:(

Of course Harry is up there as well. He and I are so alike sometimes, and his journey is just so remarkable.

Hermione and Sirius Black are definitely my favorites, although I view it as being unfair to all the other characters. I like to view every character as my favorite because there is probably nothing I dislike about the Harry Potter universe.

I think it's Dumbledore! He's smart and funny at the same time, and he's the greatest wizard of all time ;) I just adore him! I usually never cry in front of books, but when he died in the 6th - my fav btw - I cried during 20mn without being able to stop :o
Second close would be Hermione, she's so awesome! And she's the one character I can identify with.
I also love Snape, Tonks, Fred&George, Bellatrix, and of course Harry! I can't really rank him as we see the story through his eyes, but I definitely love him too!

Those are my favs, but actually I love every single character of HP. I'm a huge reader but HP and JK Rowling are just genious. My favs books of all time. I've read each of them at least 5 times and in different languages
I hate the movies though, except the 1st one (even if I run to the theater to see them, I'm such a hopeless HP fan :o) ! What can I say? They can't hold a candle to the books
