Better than 'Arrival'?

Ever since I started posting on this site, I always think about what you guys are going to post/complain about while i watch Smallville. During this episode, I could find no fault. It was brilliant. One of my pet peeves is cheesy lines... there were none. There was tons of drama and everything was just executed perfectly. The Clana scenes weren't stupid, the FOTWs were good actors, the cave scene w/ Chloe and Lex was amazing, Chlark was fun and entertaining, past characters were mentioned, the Clex fist fight. This might go down as one of my favorite episodes.

Do you think this episode was better than Arrival?

Mortal - 9.4/10

Seriously, that's how close they are for me. If Arrival's fight scene between the two Kryptonians and Clark would have been better, then it would've been a perfect 10, IMO. Mortal was very, very good, but.. I dunno. Arrival was just a teensy bit better, probably because it was what I've been waiting for for 4 months.

I love Mortal more. I was watching last night and keeping thinking that "wow...am I watching smallville?"

Nah Mortal really didnt have any things that didnt make sense like arrival, like the fight scene in Arrival was sorry and watching Brainiac form from the ship was out of hand. Mortal was by far the most WELL WRITTEN show in smallville history yet...

I give this episode a 9.3327, where Arrival got a 9.3324. Close call.

Arrival was above average in quality. Average = 5. How much above average was Arrival? It was near perfect. That makes it 7+. How near perfect was it? Well, it had certain problems. Ah.

Roughly, it was an 8.

Mortal was full of problems, bad writing, cheesy acting and bad directing. It was BELOW average. Average = 5. In fact, it was near awful. Awful = 1. The question then becomes: Was it as bad or worse than Ageless? Thankfully, no. That makes it 2+. It had some good points, and a couple of sex scenes. 3+. It can't be 5, because 5 is average and this was below, so, being generous, I'd give it a 4.

They were both good, but normal Clark compared to Superpowered Clark. I don't think so.

Arrival better by a little. The Fos was awsome thats why I think Arrival was the better episode.

i liked arrival better probably cause of the cooler special effects and the fortress of solitude. clark really needs his powers back. you kind of start to miss the superspeed and heat vision and stuff. but the episode would have only been 30 minutes and not an hour

Dont like the limited choices on the poll. Both were great episodes imo but its hard to beat a season opener, especially this one.

I'd give the edge to Arrival but they did a great job on keeping Mortal interesting and exciting!

I have to agree. In terms of continuity, writing and story, I liked Mortal better than Arrival. I didn't think they could pull off such a good episode with Clark without his powers.

I would have to say that I think it was better by far.
I think it had more substance.

I loved both episodes, but I am leaning to mortal. What I liked about it was that we got to see the kind of person Clark would be if he was human. He was so happy and free not to have the weight on his shoulders. It was a nice break for me but I am ready for his powers to return.

Hands down I liked mortal better.

Arrival had it's great moments (FOS, chlark talk), the the aliens left me going uh ..that's it? buildup with fizzle even though the total reference to supes II was kinda neat (with the phantom zone). Arrival was all about the effects.

Mortal had many good moments - I found lana's comment about smoking HILARIOUS, seeing Clark be strong even though mortal was uplifting (i.e he didn't become a whimp w/out his powers), the clana was tasteful, and OMG CHLOE - "mission impossible", we were all rolling - the joke about the grenade - and my favorite - CLEX fight.

Mortal for teh win.

It's going to be an enjoyable season!

i thought mortal was an excellent episode, and the continuity was a major plus, the lex/clark fight also a highlight...mortal was better than arrival!!!

Mortal is one of my favorite S5 episodes. There was nothing wrong with this episode!
