I don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but who thought the FOTW's were kinda lame in this episode.
I have seen some bad ones in the past, but they rank up there in the top 5.
What do you all think?

i thought they were pretty good. the powers were more complex then past ones and they were smarter then just all the ones that delt with the kids. plus the played an important role with clark and lex.

I think they were lame also. They don't have to have freaks all the time to make the show work, but I believe they had to have them in this episode so that Clark could find level 3 and have the big "duke out with Lex"

Actually, with the Lex angle aside, I thought this was one of the best FOTW episodes of the show. All of the freaks in the past, with the exception of a few, had powers that were pretty lame. These guys had powers that were actually cool to watch and the twins reminded me of the twins in the Matrix Unloaded. Their power was pretty awesome as well.
Aside from that, they also dealt directly with Lana and the Kent Family. While the freaks have targeted Lana in the past, I can't remember any that actually targeted the Kent family. One even got into a fist fight with Jonathan. By the way, has anyone else noticed that Jonathan Kent gets his ass kicked all of the time?

Powers were good, characters themselves, not so good.

I didn't like "Electric Man", but the twins themselves were entertaining.

I didn't like how when the nail went through one twin's hand, the other punched Lana with no pain, but after the one pulls his hand from the wall with nail still in it, THEN the other is writhing in pain. What, is it sympathetic pain, but with some lag between twins? :P

You ever had a nail stuck through your hand (or anything --wood, glass, whatever)? As long as it's done pretty quick actually going in isn't the worst part--taking it out is. Ouch.

I liked the characters okay, I was just reminded of earlier episodes is all. I forget what episode, but the one where they inhale kryptonite to make themselves stronger. It just felt like they were trying to subliminally tell kids not to get addicted to cocaine or heroin. Other than, the "Wonder Twins" as he called them were kind of cool, but they looked like they should be living in a cardboard box or something. Electric guy was wierd with his hair, like his power makes his hair go to the side completely.

I honestly thought the Wonder Twins would say "Wonder Twin powers activate" that's how cheesy and lame it was :rotfl:

I just thought the special effects looked way better than before.

Good points, I just thought in all when I made this thread they had the wrong people doing the powers and I guess I would have to watch the episode again.
To bad I didn't save it to DVR last night :(

BEHOLD: THE POWER OF ELECTRICITY! In small doses, it lights my cigarettes. In large doses...well, it doesn't do anything, really.

I thought they were very lame, but you had to have something clark could contend with not having powers. Had he been his regular self he would have made quick work of all three of the FOTW.

I agree. They were the best FOTWs ever to be in last night's episode.

I liked them... dunno if you all know but Kenny (who played Tommy, the electro-guy) plays Lemonhead on the series "the Shield" and I thought he played a good addict looking for his fix. I liked how he'd blast anyone he could (like blasting the sherriff over the hood of her car.. finally she bares witness to the freaks of smallville first hand). The twins were good too... I really think there isn't enough really creepy FOTW and they certainly fulfilled that aspect for me.. and the idea that they are all Lex's first sign of created super freaks was a wicked twist in the story... i've always liked the idea of level 3 and hope this isn't the last time we hear about it...
2 thumbs up for the freaks... now bring them back to kill Lana lol.

Sheesh, I can't believe how many people disliked the DC shoutouts to Lightning Lad/Lord and the Wonder Twins...
OK, the Wonder Twins were kind of lame, they were supposed to be creepy but didn't pull it off well. The other guy, though, I thought was very believable.
The thing I was MOST impressed with is that Clark in hero mode, as far as Tom Welling's acting, seems to be better than Clark in super-hero mode. He made his character's reactions and emotions WITHOUT the powers far more realistic than he does WITH them.

I thought they were pretty cool! Specially the guy who could shoot lighting out of his hands.

Yea they were some of the best man, its cuz there was a real purpose ya know? And FOTW's are part of superman, part of smallville, part of it all. If you dont like it, go watch one everwood creek or something...

one everwood creek lol i like how they made the twins finsih each other sentenaces and as for whoever said jonathan kent gets his ass kicked alot i think the reason why that is is because i think jon schinder really likes doing stunts. He said his favortie episdoe is nicodemus becuase of his driving scene in the beginning

OTOH, there was something missing: Clark's natural impulses. In other words, his powers were gone, but his reflexes should have remained. He was much too controlled in the fights, as though he'd spent the "weeks" between episodes sparring without his abilities in order to get ready.

The FOTW's sucked really bad they weren't even scary, they had me laughing at them, especially those twins!

I thought they were ok. I don't think every Special-K villain needs to be uber powerful. And these guys weren't irradiated normally - straight from the rocks, but from chemicals synthesized from them. So maybe there are some other factors involved. :)

These were some of the best FOTW's to date... finally nice to see some actualy story and color in a super villian these days... and the special effects for them were cool, too... Tommy had some really funny lines and only after watching it a second time did I notice that the twins did actually finish eachothers sentences.. cool... it was so fluid I didnt really notice the first time (except when they say "that really.. hurt".. but that whole nail scene was so amazing to watch I wasn't paying attention)... great filmotography in this episode...
I know they only pushed Clark around cause he had no powers, but I wonder if they could have a decent fight with Superman if they had that serum they're addicted too??
the super villians are just as much a part of the superman universe as Superman himself.. and i've been a fan since the comicbook days!!

I actually thought they were good. Most of the other ones in previous episode weren't as smart.

I just don't like the FOTW period. They should be focusing on Clark's relationships alot more because it seems to be overlooked. The twin thing was incredibly lame I must say but at least they had decent reasoning for having them around this time.

Well there has to be some sort of a challenge in Smallville. Otherwise it would become the OC, and this is a show about the upbringing of Superman. I don't mind that more goes on in the show than just relationships. I don't watch soaps for a reason. I want to see more than that. :D

i felt like the fotw's were so much better - not for reasons focusing on the fotw's like powers and stuff - but just because they directed the focus on the overall plot.
It can get kinda lame when they'res just some random dude that somewhat is in-line with some theme going on at the time...
i mean true, cool fotw's can be sweet, but without significance, it doesnt have the long-term edge.
this one was uniquely awesome because it provided character development for lex
so: B- fotw's, f***ing awesome script = overall A

Good point, I like the fact that they were integral to the plot, not just 3 random Freaks.

ya i agree... these are 3 super freaks Lex basically MADE to go after Clark's family, just to fixate his obsession with Clark. LEVEL 3!!! Finally after all this time actual super freaks from level 3... sorry, just waited so long to hear myself say that lol

Actually after rewatching the show tonight, Sparky said him and the Wonder Twins actually had those powers before Lex's experiments. So it's quite possible they didn't even have Kryptonite-based powers, but were mutants before those scientific experiments.

I, for one, really liked these FOTWs. They seemed like the kind of guys who'd be criminals anyway, as opposed to the random kid of Smallville who gets dosed with Kryptonite and immediately thinks they should try to destroy the town or something. That said, they probably could've held the Kents hostage without having superpowers (especially the electric guy, he looks the type to be carrying a pistol around).
Plus, the powers were cool to see.

I thought they were fantastic.
It is really important to me as was mentioned a few posts above that these were not normal meteor freaks. That the Meteor rock only inhanced what they could already do.
Biggest point to that is... Lex is testing Meteor rocks on people who are already superpowered.
