View Full Version : My feelings about Clana changed

Wow. Before I really didn't like Lana. She was so whiny, 'It's all your fault!' and 'Oh poor pitiful me'.

But actually seeing Clark and Lana together as boyfriend and girlfriend, I actually kind of liked it. Especially since it was more of a light hearted relationship, IMO. It was nice, a LOT better than what I was expecting.

Now I'm not saying I'm a life-long Clana fan, but I enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Chlark shipper, but the Clana isn't so bad after all! ;)

...once they were FINALLY together and acting like it, I mean.

I liked the Clana in this episode a lot and wished that it had been there all through season 2 rather than what we got back then. As it is if they're going to move toward the "break up" now in season 5 it's going to be rushed and frustrating. Back in Season 2 they could have had this and built it into a wonderful romance that everyone rooted for making it that much more dramatic when the two spilt in a couple of seasons afterwards.

Now I'm afraid it's going to be more like, "here we go again..."

So what would be a typical day in the life of Clana.

Clark: So what do you want to do today?

Lana: I dont know lets have a picnic then go back to my place where I have 10 billion candles lit and some cheezy romantic pop music playing. I can bat my pretty eyes at you and we can talk about...well, im not really that deep so lets talk about espresso!

Clark: We've done that every day for the past 3 months!

*sigh* if only they can manage to keep it like this the whole season, then Clana and Lana might be more tolerable, but that's wishful thinking :\

Clana is so much better with no angst or whining ... they were so cute in this episode--best chemistry they've ever had, maybe.

Yeaps, the feelings were different this time. They were actually together together than just together. :D

I agree with ScrappyTheOwl, I enjoyed not hearing Lana whine. But it REALLY made me cringe during their "love" scenes. I have never been a Clana fan, and now I don't think I can ever be. You see how good Clark and Chloe work together, super powers or not? I love seeing them work so closely together. Spending that much time together, surely something will happen eventually.

They didn't bug me as much as they usually do, but I still cringed during their kissing scenes, my brother even said it looks like Clark is kissing a young girl and it grossed us both out

Angst free Clana was actually kind of sweet and cute, wasn't it? Let's just hope it lasts.:p

Without the angst, they are a cute couple to watch. People can only stand the secrets and lies struggle for so long lol.

The Clana was tolerable, but it is going to go right back to secrets, lies, and angst as soon as Clark gets his powers back. Enjoy it while it lasts people. :\

That's true, but if all they are is a cute couple without the angst, that's just as bad, that means there's no depth or anything, just the fluff :\

I gotta say I have never been more happy to have a DVR than now... so I could fast-foward through all those mushy Clana scenes. Yuck. :\

I kinda missed the "secrets and lies" myself!

Missed the secrets and lies?? I can't believe that.

As much as I appreciated the Alicia mention, I didn't like that Clark claimed to have "never" loved her. :\ I could see a reason for him to "love" Alicia, but I've never been able to understand his "love" for Lana. Whatever.

Totally joking! I don't miss anything about Lana.

I feel the same way about Alicia. I felt that Clark was very cavalier about his "feelings" for her. I don't think that Clark knows the difference between real love and obsession. He is living out his ultimate fanboy dream with Lana, but he needs to remember the old adage: "Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it."

Clark annoyed me too when he just sort of brushed Alicia aside like he never even cared for her. He didn't even look sad! For god's sake, they got married! Alicia was brutally murdered and Clark was griefstricken! And now he's got this whole, "eh, it was just a fling" attitude.

I'm glad Clark and Lana are finally together, however shallow my reasoning may be.

I think Alicia more or less filled a void for Clark so that he could talk to someone about his powers that he lost when Pete left. He never loved Alicia, she was the only one at the time who could understand him, so he mourned her loss.
Now he has Chole to confide in. This allows him an outlet and the eventual courage to reveal to Lana his true nature through Chloe's encouragement and understanding.

Sstray72, what he said about Alicia was stupid by the writers because didn't he almost strangle that guy who killed her last year because he "loved" her?

cotton candy girl
10-09-2005, 04:02 PM
Clana belongs together.

Clark has loved her for 4 years. Alicia was on SV for all of 3 episodes. He never even said to her face that he loved her. She made him feel comfortable because she was different, like him.

He said "you're the only one I've ever 'really' loved", and I took that as he's had feelings for other people.

Hey, either you like Clana or you don't, just like most things in America. We're all so different.

I've opined on this in another thread but I think the love he felt for Alicia either wasn't the same type of love, or at least the same of magnitude. It's not an affront to Alicia, but he loved her briefly, while he's loved Lana for a decade or so. They just aren't on the same level. :)

Mine didn't. Clark and Lana never do anything but stare at each other. That makes for an incredibly boring scene every time it happens. THey have never been shown to have anything in common and we never see why Clark likes her at all. THeir "romantic" scenes and I use that in the loosest possible way, were inceredibly boring and except for the fact that it was Tom Welling half naked, completely dull and unrealistic.

THe fact that Clark knows Lana would never accept him if she knw the truth makes it unrealistic, too. Why on Earth he wouldn't instantly carry off the beautiful, smart and challenging CHloe the minute he realized she knew his secret and was totally okay with it makes no sense and is beyond understanding.

Makes Clark look like an idiot and a jerk all at once. Lana is vapid and boring and the screen goes dead when she appears. SHe has little chemistry with Clark at all and running through the field and and acting silly is not the stuff of real love stories unless you subscribe to the "Love is never having to say you're sorry" school of romance.

Clark and Chloe saving the day was the only watchable part of this ep; well, the sheriff weas great, too. I liked Clark being super without the super but it underscored once again that to actually do something he has to rely on Chloe because whether she's held hostage or not, Lana can rarely do anything meaningfull to help. It's always Chloe and Clark is nuts to look at anyone else.

Margroks, you obviously have strong opinions about this, but so do I. I think Chloe and Clark have a great relationship as friends. It didn't work out, and TPTB chose to make Lana the romantic lead of the show for Clark. He's pined over her forever.

To me Clark and Lana in a relationship is not boring, and the fact that they're in one for more than 2 episodes has made me and a lot of other people happy. I don't know why TPTB had Clark tell Chloe over and over that they're just friends. I'm glad she seems to have accepted it, though. They should let her have a boyfriend.

I like Chlark, I also *LOVE* Lexana. Clana is old and really boring me out.

Clana being in a relationship is not boring at all to me and many others. It's great to see them hold hands and be light-hearted. They love each other.

To be honest, the only time I've seen potential for Chlark was at the end of S1. Other than that they're just friends.

If Clark is to be with anyone else, I think it should be Lois. And Lexana is just...ridiculous, IMO.

Perhaps Clark has to have Lana finally, so he can move on. I've never been a fan of them being together, and kind of got bored with all the going back and forth, friendship/relationship stuff between them. Chole is the one that you sympathize with, because she's the one who's loved Clark all along, but he never saw her like he did Lana. It would be great if Clark finally sees her differently, more than friends, by the end of the show, even if its just a word, and then she tells him he has to go and be superman, the world needs him, or something like that, Corny mabey, but it would be great.

I'm a Clana shipper all the way! But I like the "I want, but I can't touch" feel they have. I'm a hopeless romantic and that is right up my alley! Although, I like it better when their actually together. It might not last forever, but at the moment they love each other more than they love anything else. I think it's sweet. Especially since the kisses are now full of pent up desire they've had for each other for years.

Well ladies!

Like Allison Mack said in an interview between Seasons 2 and 3:

"...I think the whole Clark/Lana relationship has played itself out and they should move on..."

But, forgive me for sounding a little like Lex Luthor when I say this:

Lana knows what and who she wants, I am patient, she WILL come around, TRUST ME ON THIS! (fiendish grin).

Any takers, anyone??

watever allison said doesn't matter cuz it's the writers who are gonna make the story of the show.

it's funny how people just wont take the fact that clark and chloe will never be together.

Yea i agree, they will be good...for awhile. I really want to see Lana go evil and rock on Lexana!! Then pave the way for Chlark and then you got like an evil duo and good duo, that'd be sweeeeet.

Chloe and Clark are just friends.

Lexana would probably be one of the single worst things TPTB could do to SV, and I think people would stop watching. Lexana do NOT belong together.

Clana in this episode was a hell of a lot better maybe because they were both on the same page. Clark still had a spaceship to blow up without lana knowing about it... He had many different secrets while lana didn't. Now there's no "secrets" that they need to hide from each other. Clark's happy, therefore Lana's happy 2 b with him.

Remember everyone, when Lana was in the hospital bed after the alien Arrival---note what was written opposite the photo regarding the death of Jason Teague and his mother:

FOr starters, there kisses are so not full of desire it's pathetic. Lana acts like she never even considered sex or what to do with a hot guy. Most unrealistic sex scene ever. I sometimes think the writers have no idea what sex is really like 'cause that ain't it.

It's not sweet when two people haven't had a decent conversation then suddenly claim they love each other and certainly when we hear Clark saying she's the only one he's ever loved. We've heard Clark claim feelings for other girls such a s Chloe, Kyla and ALicia. THat's just hogwash.

If a relationship isn't brought to fruition in an organic fashion and made to feel real it's just boring and unreal and that's what this is. And remember, Lana never officially broke up with Jason; they had a spat and he walked out the door but they never ended it. Once again we see Lana as a girl who never hesitates to cheat on her current boyfriend when she wants more attention or has a spat with them. SHe's a self centered card board cutout girl who'd hate the hero if she knew what he was and make no mistake, Clark is an alien whether he's without powers or not. That doesn't change the fact that he was born on another planet and has an AI that represents his father hanging in the wings who'll be back and he's an idiot to pretend that won't happen, too.

Lana will start harping at him and cheat on him soon and all this crap will remain a thoroughly disgusting story arc that Smallville will not recover from. This has made Clark look worse than ever and that's saying a lot.
