Better liar: Lex or Clark?

It was funny trying to see Lex weasel his way out of being caught red-handed when Clark burst in...got me thinking that the only person who might be as good a liar as he is (besides evil Lionel) is..Clark :).

Would be interested to hear other people's thoughts.

Lex is usually a good liar but he was caught off guard a bit by being punched in the face.:p

Lex is 10x better, but i agree that he was completely caught off guard by the way Clark just pounced without a word from Lex.

Lex doesn't just lie he bends you to his own purpose he excels at being a mastermind and it shows, course I haven't seen this episode not until Sunday as i live in Canada... oh Sunday can't come fast enough

Oh, this isn't even a contest! Clark is a HORRIBLE liar! He's so lame, I don't get how people didn't figure him out in Season 1!

Lex: Clark, why are you always down in the caves?
Clark: Uh...science project.

Lame-o! How often did he use that one? And that's only one of many terrible fibs!

Lex, on the other hand, is a great liar, in my opinion. He's very smooth and suave about it, he never stumbles on his words. Even if I know, as a viewer, that he's lying, I can't help but to think twice when he spins his lies. He's an amazing liar, as good as evil Lionel, I think.

But yeah, in this episode, I think he was a little too busy getting punched in the face by Clark to say something believable. :lol:

I actually think Lex finds it amusing when Clark lies, but has gotten really tired of it.

Lex is a good liar because he really puts everything into his performance. And he was trained by the best (Lionel).

Clark really is a terrible liar. Superacting is not one of his abilities.

I think Omar at TWoP summed it up best in his recaplet. I can't remember it exactly but it was something along the lines of "Lex asks Clark if he was in the caves when the meteors hit and Clark is all 'what's a cave?'. "

Lex was raised to be deceitful and manipulative...it makes sense for him to be the better liar!!! Which i guess Clark has lived with his secret, but a lot of his excuses are really bad ones.

Clark always wins at lying but lex often looses...
that being said,
thats because clark takes on uncomplicated lies only by necessity and lex tries to mastermind the entire situation. lex is also by nature untrustworthy - which makes it harder for him. so i'd definately say lex eventhough his sucess rate is lower.... hes just so much more advanced

maybe also the things clark lies about, people dont want to confront him so they let go (ie: his powers), whereas lex, his lies usually involve pain of some kind

Lex is a better liar. When he spins his tales, he doesn't miss a beat. He looks the person straight in the eye. Sometimes it seems that even Lex believes his own lies.

Clark is a terrible liar. He stumbles, he fidgets, he looks away. But that just goes to show that he is a good person.

However, even though Lex is a better liar, people believe Clark more just because Clark is a good person, more trustworthy. People (including Clark) always doubt Lex, even when Lex is telling the truth. Poor Lexy. So misunderstood. :(

I think Lex is a great liar but Clark lies for a living, come on he's Superman he has to be a good liar. After all those years he's getting better like every day!

It depends.

I think Clark is a bad liar in the sense that he hates lying, so he does a poor job of it.

Lex is a good liar because, maybe he doesn't love it, but he doesn't resent himself as much as Clark does for doing it. So it's easier for him to do.

If we're talking time-span and magnitude of the lie, then definately Clark.
But spot on lying, definately Lex.
