Even Clark has feelings, including anger. As Superman, he has learned to control it. He's not Superman yet, and Lex's actions warranted the anger displayed.

I actually HATED the idea of them coming to blows. I was dreading tonight's episode for a while. The chemistry that Lex and Clark had as friends in Season 1 was what drew me and got me TOTALLY addicted to Smallville...

But I gotta say, as tonight's episode went on and the Kents and Lana were held captive and mistreated, and Clark and Chloe went through what they did in order to try and retrieve the serum, the more I felt that Lex was in dire need of some TOUGH love which is what Clark gave him a dose of tonight, hehe..

I thought it was lackluster, actually. IMO, it lacked suspense and was kinda bland. Good idea. Bad execution.

I thought it was cool because we got to see raw clark. I mean he alway, always holds back when he has his powers, but here he was just crackin some skulls. how is that not cool?

I dreaded the fall of lex myself but man I LOVED that scene. My favorite of this episode. Clark walks in and wacks Lex. The previews they showed had me believing it was lex that was going to throw the first punch. and yes it was hot!

Yep, Lex seems to be finally making that inevitable transition.....

Great scene.

Ooh, I loved this scene. I really got the feeling Clark was just toying with Lex--trying to make Lex hit him so he could prove to Lex he was "just a guy." Clark totally let Lex catch that last punch ... the look on Lex's face after Clark walked away just made me shiver--he was so shocked and so disappointed.

On the other hand, Clark had every right to be angry and probably should have laid it into Lex a little more. Lex could have gotten Lana and the Kent's killed (even Clark)--just for the sake of trying to see Clark do something super. Pardon my French, but what an ass.

Not having powers was great for this scene--he didn't have to hold back, so Clark was finally able to play out/let go of his anger and emotions. And still, there was that little bit of humor behind it: look at the smile after Lex hits him. Clark knew that was going to happen--he had to have wanted it to happen. And it really was the ending of a friendship and the beginning of their future. Excellent.

Ooh, that was just awesome :D

I thought the fight was much needed. It puts them at odds and it was just perfect. I think this leaves the gap for Lex to not know that superman is Clark for a little while in the future.

Which begs the question, this whole thing was a set up from the get go. Lex clearly remembered what the Kryptonian Bonnie and Clyde said, ''Kal-El does not bleed.'' So Lex thought that Clark was indeed Kal-El until Clark bled.

It's why Lex said "it can't be'' when he saw Clark bleed from the electric shock.

The whole Lex scheme saved this episode (that, and the Pete reference) from being another average FOTW-based plot.

IMO, Clark was being nice to Lex...he didn't tell Lana or the police.

"It's good to see you standing up for yourself, Clark"

That scene was awesome!! The first time Clark hit him, I was shocked!! It was great - then he hit him again. And it was great that Clark wasn't overly angry, but more in control of himself.

"I'm through playing games with you. You wanna test me, You wanna see what I'm made of - Do it yourself Coward."

That was great !! LOVED IT!!

I agree completely. While I'm sure there was enough anger there to fuel Clark's violence the entire thing seemed to be a set up to get Lex angry enough to hit back and see for himself that Clark could be hurt. The entire fight ended at that point. I can't see that happening if Clark was really that out of control with his anger. After he accomplished what he wanted he simply turned and left.

Seems he had better things to do elsewhere. Go figure. ;)

Honestly, Clark did something he has wanted too for years now.

He just couldn't ever do it because well if he hit Lex with his super power's he would send him into the next county and Lex at that moment was trying to figure out why those laser's weren't hurting Clark.

Clark did the right thing in not trusting Lex anymore.

Agree 100%. Clark wanted let Lex to hit him so Lex could see 'for himself' that he was human.

I thought whole episode tied together well this too. I mean, Lex has always suspected something 'strange' with Clark because of all impossible things he seems to do, but with this episode, Lex watched Chloe and Clark break into his uber secret level 3 facility, without using any super-powers. Cap that with hitting Clark himself and making him bleed...icing on the cake.

Funny thing though, I liked this fight scene way more than the battle of Kryptonians in last episode...heck Lex even lasted longer I think :)

I might be going overboarding, but it's my favorite scene of the series, so far. That is, if they don't try and backpeddle and make them friends again. If that was truly the beginning of the rift, then it'll be a scene I never forget.

ya if they make them friends agian that would suck but this is the season where everyone has basically become what they r going to be.

I loved the fight, but I noticed something that I haven't seen anyone else bring up so I will.

Clark is mortal now which means that to get into Lex's mansion and to see him, Clark would have to go through security (which Lex obviously has). If that is true, Lex would know that he is coming. Why wouldn't Lex just simply shut the computer off to prevent anything else that could be potentially incriminating? Clark had no CONCRETE proof that it was actually Lex who was monitoring the Level Three scene. He hadn't actually seen Lex do it so I'm sure that with all of Lex's cunning verbal abilities, Lex could have played it off to the point where Clark would believe him.

Sorry if I'm over-analyzing, but it was a question that I formed after I had saw that scene.

Clark also knew that Lex was at the sanitarium, so he put 2 and 2 together.

I thought the scene made the show. As soon as he defeated the freaks it looked like a typical episode, then we finally get to see them becoming enemies.

They are really making it clear that Lex is alot darker this year. He definately deserved to get hit, those guys were crazy & they could have hurt/killed people. It does make me wonder what Lex will do this year.
