So who are these new guys and were do they get there powers? How do they know about Kal-El?

Do you mean the meteor freaks? The meteor freaks were being experimented on in Level 3 and eventually sent to Belle Reeve when Lex was through with them. They didn't know about Kal-El, they knew about Clark, probably from stories in Belle Reeve.

Right. I get it now. Just don't get what Lex's overall goal is in all the experimenting with people and the meteor rocks.

PS. Belle Reeve is turning into the Arkham Asyllum of Smallville. I sure hope all those freaks continue to stay locked up.
