View Full Version : Smallville = Dawson's Creek?

I find it interesting that there are many parallels between Smallville and Dawson's Creek.

Firstly, Clark Kent and Dawson Leery both have their futures planned out for them. Clark wants to be a journalist/superhero and Dawson want to be a filmmaker.

Secondly, Dawson and Clark also have best friends that are a little quirky and a bit of an outcast. Dawson has Pacey Whitter and Clark has Peter "Pete" Ross.

Third, both of them have girls who are friends. Girls who have longed for them all their lives, but they haven't quite responded to their feelings. Dawson completely ignored Josephine "Joey" Potter in the first season as did Clark with Chloe Sullivan.

Lastly, both characters were in love with the girl next door. A girl who has had some problems with her family and feels issues of abandonment. Clark loved Lana Lang and Dawson loved Jennifer "Jen" Lindley.

In fact, both characters lose their virginity to the girl next door in the 90th episode of both series. Dawson lost his in "Hotel New Hampshire" and Clark will lose it in "Mortal."

If anyone else can find similar parallels, please post them on this thread.

well, after IT airs may just may get ticked off. But don't call Clark a A super-idiot. That honor belongs to Almiles.

hopefully this episode doesnt suck, I've got a lot of ppl watching this year an I dont want them to think this show sucks.

As I said in another thread, I think I may have my expectations too high. I hope it's not disappointing.

I'm not a fan of Dawson's Creek...it's not my thing.

well i don't know. never really watch tv except for smallville. what's so good about dawson's creek?

That's another similarity. Clark's best friend ended up having feelings for someone that he used to like. Just like Pacey had feelings for Dawson's former love, Joey.

Also, notice that in their senior year, Clark and Dawson both meet older women that they end up falling in love with. Older women who also happen to be relatives of their best friends.

Dawson feels infatuated with Gretchen Witter (Pacey's sister) who is 3 years older than him and Clark eventually falls in love with Lois Lane (Chloe's cousin), who is one year older.

I never caught ONE epp of Dawson but I heard alot of good things about it so I wouldnt know,, does anyone feel this way about the similarities??
