Clark was looking out the loft's window when Lana walked up the steps. She watched him at the window for a moment and then went to stand beside him.

"What are you thinking about?" she asks.

"Regrets." he says.

"Oh, I have alot of those." she says and smiles.

He looks down at her, and looks at her a moment, then looks back out of the window.

"Me too." he said quietly.

"What's your biggest regret?" she asks him.

"Not being able to be honest." he said. He looked at her again, then turned around and walked over to the couch and took a seat.

Lana turns to look at him curiously. "You can be honest with me Clark."

Clark shakes his head. "No, I wish I could. But I can't."

Lana looks at him and shakes her head. "How are you ever going to be close to someone if you don't let them?" she asked.

"I've made decisions to keep people from danger Lana. Now matter how hard you try, you can't understand that." he said.

Lana walked across the room and sat beside him.

"Is it really all that bad?" she asks him.

"You have no idea." he said.

"But I would like to have an idea Clark. I want to be close to you...I want to know you." she said.

"I want you to know me too." he said gently.

The Talon. Martha Kent is behind the counter, Clark walks in and sits at the bar in front of his mother.

"What's the matter Clark?" asked Martha.

Clark was silent a moment. "I think I'm going to tell Lana about my abilities." said Clark.

Martha came around the counter to stand beside Clark.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" she asked.

"I'm in love with her mom. If I want anyone to know, it's her." said Clark quietly.

"I know you love her Clark, but don't let that love blind you. As much as you want to, you might not be able to trust her." said Martha.

"I think I'm ready to take that risk mom."

Martha put a hand on his shoulder. "Just be ready for the consequences Clark."

Clark nodded and sat in silence. Chloe walks in and sees Clark sitting in silence, looking at his hands. She walks over to him, Martha goes back behind the counter to serve a customer.

"What's the matter Clark?" she asked him.

"Do you have regrets?" he asked.

"Of course! Dealing with Lionel Luthor is at the top of the list." she said. She looked at Clark, concern on her face. "What is it Clark?"

Clark stands up and puts his hands in his pockets.

"I think I'm going to tell Lana about my abilities." he said.

"Clark, I know that you're in love with her, but not everyone is going to be as open minded as I am about this." said Chloe.

"I know that their are going to be consequences Chloe. And I'm ready to deal with them." said Clark.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" asked Chloe.

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life." said Clark, and walked out of the Talon.

Kent Farm. Clark is picking up stacks of hay and placing them on the back of the truck. Lana drives up. Clark places the hay in his hand in the truck and walks over to Lana's car. Lana steps out.

"Hey Lana." said Clark.

"Hey, Chloe told me that you were looking for me." said Lana.

Clark took a deep breath. "I was." he said.

"What is it?" she said.

"I've actually been wanting to talk to you about something. And I'm kind of nervous about it." he said, walking back towards the truck. He stopped and turned to face her. Seeing the curiousity on her face, he continued. "Remember when we were talking about regrets the other day, and I told you that my biggest regret was not being honest?" he asked.

"Yeah, you seemed kind of upset about it." she said.

"Well, i've been thinking about my regrets alot lately. And I've decided to correct some of them." he said, looking at the ground.

Lana looked at him for a moment and stepped towards him.

"What is it Clark?" she asked.

"I've been dishonest about a lot of things Lana. All those times you asked me how I saved people..I said I was just lucky...I lied." he said and continued to put the hay stacks in the truck.

"Are you going to share the truth with me then?" she asked, smiling.

Clark sets down the stack in his hand and looked at her.

"Come and lift one of these for me." Clark said, motioning towards the hay stacks.

"What?" she asked, stepping towards the stacks.

"I want to show you something." he said.

"Okay..?" she said and tried to lift a stack. She struggled to get it on the truck. "What's this about Clark?" she asked, breathing heavily.

Clark picked up the hay stack with one finger, not even straining a muscle. Lana looked at him curiously.

"Doesn't look like much, does it?" he asked. He put his hands underneath the truck and lifted it, again without straining a muscle.

Lana's eyes widened. "H-how are you doing that?" she asked.

"I'm not from around here." said Clark, with a nervous smile.

"Not from Smallville?" asked Lana.

"Not from this galaxy." said Clark.

"N-not from....you're saying you're an alien..." said Lana.

Clark slowly nodded. "I'm from a planet called Krypton, my kryptonian name is Kal-el."

"In metropolis...in the club, the bartender called you Kal." she said, realization on her face.

"Yes." he said, examining her face.

"I always thought you were just affected by the meteor rocks.." she said, leaning against the truck.

"Kryptonite, is the actual term for the rocks..." he said, looking down.

"The meteor rocks are from your planet!?" she asked.

"Lana...i've tried so hard to believe that it wasn't my fault...but it was." he said, turning away from her.

"What are you talking about Clark?" she asked.

"I came to Earth the day of the meteor shower Lana. My spaceship was hidden in the middle of it." he said, and turned to face her. "All these people's suffering Lana, it's my fault, I caused this." Tears were forming in his eyes.

"Clark, I don't believe that." she said, reaching up and touching his arm.

"Lana," he said breathing heavily. "It's my fault your parents are dead." A single tear rolled down his face.

"Clark, that could never have been your fault. You were just a boy." said Lana.

"Lana, the meteors never would have came if I wasn't sent here." he said.

Lana reached up to his face and wiped away his tear.

"It's not your fault Clark. It's no one's fault. Who ever placed you in that ship did it for a reason, they must not have known what the rocks would do to us."

"My father placed me in that ship because I was the last of the Kryptonian race." said Clark.

Lana looked at him, sympothy in her eyes. "It must be lonely, knowing that there isn't anyone else out there like you."

"Why do you think I clung to Alicia?" he asked. "She was the only one that really understood me."

"She knew?" asked Lana.

"We saved each other when we first met...I had no idea she would try and kill you Lana." said Clark.

"That's why you started a relationship with her again when she said she was cured." said Lana.

Clark nodded and took a deep breath.

"Clark, I won't lie to you, it's going to take me a while to adjust to this new information..but, it's not going to change the way I feel about you." said Lana.

"Lana, I've wanted to tell you so many times.."

"I know why you didn't, I think somewhere inside I knew that their was something special about you." she said. "You didn't kill my parents Clark. None of this is your fault. You've saved this town so many times." Lana put her hand on his face. "You're amazing."

"I wish I had told you sooner Lana..I was afraid that you wouldn't understand." he said, holding the hand that was on his face. "The last thing I wanted to do was drive you away."

"I'm not going any where." she said, smiling.

The next day, The Talon, Clark is sitting at the counter talking to Lois. Lana sneaks up behind him and covers his eyes.

"Guess who?" she asked.

"I would know these hands anywhere. Hi Chloe." Lana gasped at hit him on the arm. "I'm just kidding Lana, there's no way I would mistake you." he turned around and she leaned down and kissed him.

Lois rolled her eyes and cleared her throat, interupting their romantic moment. "Hey guys, I know you guys like the smoochies, but, I'm trying to run a business here."

Lana and Clark smiled at her, and Lana took a seat beside Clark.

"Are we still on for tonight?" she asked him.

"I've got the blanket and basket ready." said Clark.

"What are you guys doing?" asked Lois.

"We're having a picnic under an oak tree." said Clark.

"An oak tree?" asked Lois. "Sounds boring."

"That was our happiest time the first time we dated." explained Lana.

"Ahh, no need to explain anymore...PLEASE don't explain anymore." said Lois.

Chloe walks in with a smile on her face and sits next to Clark.

"What is that smile for?" asked Lois.

"Guess who just got a job at the daily planet?" said Chloe.

"Chloe that's great!" said Clark.

"I'm really doing it, I can't believe I'm really doing it!" said Chloe excitedly.

"Good for you Chloe." said Lana.

"I happen to put in a good word about 2 people in this room too, i'm pretty sure they got a chance at a job." said Chloe, looking innocent.

"Chloe, you didn't." said Lois.

"Chloe...." said Clark.

"What!?!" asked Chloe.

(Sorry it took so long, I was still reeling from the episode of Smallville "Mortal.")

"Why would you do that Chloe? You know I have no interest in being a reporter." said Lois, still looking at her cousin in shock.

"And I can't worry about deadlines, I'm in college now!" said Clark.

Chloe looked at them both and smiled. "Lois, whether you want to admit it or not, I know that you have some pent up desire inside of you to let your opinions be known."

"God knows she lets it be known to us." said Clark, smugly.

"And Clark, Lois and I are in college too, if they can work around our schedules, they can work around yours too." said Chloe, putting her hands on her hips. "C'mon guys, this is a good opprutunity!"

Clark sighs, and Lois rolls her eyes. Chloe looks at them both and smiles. "You're gonna love it, I promise."

"Whoa, hold on, we have to wait and see if we get the jobs first." said Clark.

"Oh, I know I'm a shoe-in." said Lois. "But Clark, I don't think he's meant for journalism, he's just too good at milking cows."

Lana laughs and Clark rolls his eyes and stands up. "I'm going to fill up the truck."

Lana stands up and takes his hand. "I'll come with you." Clark smiles at her and they walk out the door.

Lois looks over at Chloe. "You would think they were joined at the hip."

"They might as well be." said Chloe. "See you around Lois."

"Wait, where are you going?" asked Lois.

"I've got to set up my desk at the office." she said, smiling and walking out the door.

"Oh god, I'm gonna be a reporter." Lois said and sighed.

Clark and Lana were at the gas station, Clark filling up the truck and Lana leaning against the truck, watching Clark.

"Enjoying the show?" asked Clark, smiling.

"No, i'm enjoying the view." Lana said, and they laughed. She reached out and grabbed Clark's wallet from his pocket. "I'll go pay for the gas." she said.

"Thanks." said Clark, kissing her.

"I'll be right back." she said and headed towards the building. At that moment a bullet came from no where and hit the gas pump. It exploded. Lana dove for cover, and turned around, screaming Clark's name. Out of the smoke she saw Clark, clothes now tattered and burnt, staring across the street.

Lana got up and ran to Clark. "Clark, what happened?" she asked, and noticed he was still staring intently across the street, she slowly moved her gaze to what he was looking at.

Standing across the way, the gun still outstretched in his hand,.....was Lex.

"I knew it wouldn't hurt you." said Lex, walking across the abandoned street and towards the couple.

"Lex, what are you playing at?" asked Clark, staring angrily and Lex.

"I wanted to see what kind of secrets my best friend was keeping from me." said Lex.

"By taking the chance of killing me and Lana?" asked Clark.

"No, I waited until Lana was far enough away, and we both knew that it wouldn't hurt you." said Lex.

Clark took a step closer to him. "Why are you doing this?"

"There's a dark side in me Clark." said Lex, matter-of-factly. "Sometimes I can't control it."

"Clark, let's go." said Lana, taking Clark's hand.

"Even Lana knows?" asks Lex. "After everything that i've done for you both?"

"Lex, I couldn't tell you because-"

"Because I'm a Luthor and can't be trusted." Lex finished.

"That's not it!" exclaimed Clark.

"I DON'T CARE!" yelled Lex. "I was your freind, I could've protected your secret, I could've protected you."

"Lex..." started Clark.

"The irony is, all you had to do was come to me...now i'm going to dedicate my life to make sure everyone knows the REAL Clark Kent." said Lex, before turning and walking away.

"Lex!" yelled Clark. Lex ignored him and kept walking.

"What are we going to do Clark?" asked Lana.

"I don't know."

Kent farm, Clark is in the loft, pacing back and forth. Lionel Luthor walks up the steps. Clark sees him and stops.

"What do YOU want?" asked Clark, afraid of the answer.

"I understand your mistrust of me Mr. Kent, but I'm here because I'm worried about my son." said Lionel.

"What's wrong?" asked Clark.

"I think he's having another psychotic break." said Lionel.

"What makes you say that?" asked Clark.

"He came storming into the mansion not too long ago, ranting about you." said Lionel. When Clark gave him a puzzled look, he continued. "Apparently you are invincible."

"Invincible?" asked Clark, giving a nervous smile.

"What i'm wondering, is what caused this re-lapse?" asked Lionel.

"I'm not sure." said Clark.

"You see, I'm out of options." said Lionel, who took the place of Clark, pacing the room. "Summerholt was shutdown, as you know."

"I know." said Clark, quietly.

"And Lex won't open up to a psychiatrist. I'm afraid if things get much worse, i'm going to have him admitted to Belle Reve." Clark looked down at the floor. "I don't want to do it either, Mr. Kent."

"I don't think he's crazy." said Clark.

"No, don't misunderstand me. I don't think my son is crazy either." Clark again gave him a puzzled look. "He has a serious mental illness."

Outside the Kent house, Clark is leaned against the fence, staring into nothing.

"What's the matter son?" asked Johnathon from behind him.

"I've got myself into a situation." said Clark, continuing to stare into space.

"What kind of situation?" asked Johnathon.

"Lex caused the truck to blow-up today dad. He saw that it didn't even phase me." said Clark.

Johnathon stepped up to stand by Clark. "What did he say Clark?"

"That if I'd have gone to him, he could've protected me." Clark looked down and shook his head. "But since I couldn't trust him he's going to ensure that everyone knows the truth about me."

Johnathon looked at Clark a moment and sighed. "What do we do now?" asked Johnathon.

"Lionel came to see me." said Clark, looking at Johnathon. "He thinks Lex is having another psychotic break."

Johnathon put his hand on Clark's shoulder. "As much as I know it's going to hurt you Clark, you might have no choice but to go with that story."

"I can't make Lex stay in Belle Reve just to protect my secret dad."

Talon, Lana is sitting at the counter, lost in thought. Chloe walks up behind her and notices her staring at nothing.

"Boo." she said, and Lana looked up at her.

"Hey Chloe." said Lana.

"What's got you staring out into ga-ga land?" asked Chloe.

"I'm just thinking." said Lana.

"Does this have anything to do with the tall, dark, handsome farm boy we all know and love?" asked Chloe.

Lana smiles. "Yep, that's one i'm thinking about."

Clark walks in and walks over to Lana. "There is only one thing I can think of to resolve this." he said.

"What?" asked Lana. Chloe looks at the both with a confused look on her face.

"I'm leaving Smallville."

(Sorry for the shortness, I have to think about where I'm going with this!)

Lana looked at him a minute. "Then I'm going with you."

"Lana, I can't pull you into the middle of this." said Clark.

"You're not pulling me. I'm walking into this voluntarily Clark." said Lana.

"Wait, what are you guys talking about?" asked Chloe. "Why are you leaving?"

Clark sighed. "Lex learned my secret Chloe."

"What?" asked Chloe, surprised.

"Now he's threatining to expose Clark because he didn't come to him." said Lana.

"Again, I must say...What?!?" asked Chloe.

"Now Lionel thinks that Lex is having another re-lapse and wants to have him admitted to Belle Reve. I can't do that, Lex isn't crazy." said Clark.

"Wh-" started Chloe.

"What?" finished Lana.

"So, I'm leaving." said Clark.

"Clark, you know he'll only follow you." said Chloe.

"What about your parents?" asked Lana.

"This is the only way I can think to keep them safe, if my parents don't know where I am, they should be okay." said Clark.

"But what if their not?" asked Chloe.

"This is a risk I have to take. They are in even more danger when I'm here." said Clark and turned to look at Lana. "I can't let you go with me. I don't want you to have to live your life running away." said Clark.

"Clark, i'm in just as much danger as your parents, so is Chloe, and anyone else that you've ever come in contact with. I don't want to wake up every morning wondering if you're okay." said Lana.

"So I guess this means I can't talk you out of coming?" asked Clark.

"Wait...does this mean road trip?" asked Chloe.

Kent Farm, Clark is putting his things on the back of the truck.

Johnathon walked out to him and smiled. "I never wanted to be a farmer Clark." When Clark gave him a blank look, he continued. " This life was handed to me by my father."

Clark looked at him with confusion on his face. "If you didn't want this, why did you stay?" he asked.

"Because running this farm is what was expected of me." Johnathon said, and sighed. "Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed this." he said, looking out to the barn. "But I guess this is a chance for your mother and I to see what else is out there."

Clark looked at him with suspicion. "What are you talking about?"

Johnathon smiled. "Your mother and I are coming along."

"So are we." said Lana, who was walking up with Chloe.

Clark looked at them all with surprise. "Um...guys.."

"You might as well not fight us Clark, we're coming with you." said Chloe, putting the suitcase she was carrying on the back of the truck.

Clark watched in shock as Lana, Chloe, his parents and his dog prepared to leave. "What just happened?" sighed Clark.

Highway, Johathon is driving the truck, while Martha, Chloe, and Lana are riding inside. Clark and the dog are piled in the back with the luggage. Clark looked in the window resentfully. It had started to rain. Lana looked back and saw him staring inside. She smiled at him and put her hand on the glass. Her smile contagious, he smiled back and put his hand over hers. He was feeling warmer all of a sudden.

"Poor Clark" said Chloe, laughing. She laughed harder when Johnathon had to turn on the windshield wipers because it had started to rain harder.

"It's a good thing our boy doesn't get sick." said Johnathon.

"He's not going to be happy when we stop." said Martha.

"I'm sure Lana can help us out on that one." said Chloe, winking at Lana. Lana laughed and looked back at Clark. She giggled again when she saw Clark having to wrestle with the dog for a place in the truck.

"No shelby, I was here first!" argued Clark, gently pushing to dog to the side. Shelby looked blankly at him and sat in his lap. Clark sighed and looked at the sky, rain coming down on his face. He noticed his loved ones laughing at him in the truck. He rolled his eyes and pulled his jacket on tighter. The truck pulled over to the side of the road. Lana rolled down her window.

"We hit Metropolis in about 20 miles son." said Johnathon. "Where do you think we should go after that?"

Clark shook his head. "Doesn't matter, just away from here." he looked down the deserted highway road. "Okay, it's someone else's turn to ride in the back."

Everyone in the truck looked at each other, then all eyes settled on Chloe. Chloe looked at everyone, horror on her face. "Me? I don't think so." said Chloe, shaking her head.

Chloe looked in the window scornfully at Clark, she was not enjoying the stay in the back of the truck with Shelby.

Johnathon stopped at a hotel in Metropolis.

"Okay." said Johnathon, as they were all getting out of the truck. "We need a game plan before we go even further."

"I guess leaving the country would be a little extreme." said Clark.

"It would definately give us more safety though." said Martha.

"But none of us have enough money." said Clark.

"Then we're back at square one." said Chloe, looking scornfully at Shelby.

"Let's sleep on it, we'll figure out what to do in the morning." said Johnathon, heading towards the hotel.

"Johnathon, are we all going to share one room?" asked Martha.

"It would probably be safer that way." said Johnathon, looking over his shoulder at Martha, who was following him.

"Oh geez, lots of people in a small space...sounds fun." said Chloe sarcastically.

Lana laughed and Clark smiled, he led shelby into the truck.

"They probably don't allow dogs." said Clark, closing the truck door. "Bye Shelby." he said and turned, grabbed lana's hand and headed towards the hotel, with Chloe following right behind them.

Later that night, Martha and Johnathon asleep on the bed, Chloe laying on the other bed, Clark laying on the floor, and Lana sitting in a chair. Shelby is barking in the background.

"What do you think she's barking at?" asked Chloe.

"Probably people booking rooms here." said Clark.

"I'm not tired." said Lana.

At that moment there is a gun shot, Shelby stops barking.

Clark rushes to his feet, and looks out the window. Johnathon and Martha are sitting up in bed, with a confused look on their face.

"Go get em' speedy." said Chloe.

Clark looked back at his loved ones and smiled, and super-sped out of the room to the truck. Clark opens up the door of the truck, a bullet had went through the window shield. Shelby was on the floor board, unmoving.

"What is it son?" asked Johnathon, who was running up to him.

"Shelby's hurt." said Clark, leaning in to pick up the wounded dog.

"Was he shot?" asked Johnathon examining the dog's body.

"No, it looks like the busted glass cut him up pretty bad though." said Clark.

"Who did this?" asked Johnathon, looking around.

"I don't know." said Clark, also starting to look around. Using his X-ray vision, Clark saw a skeleton standing around the corner of the Hotel, gun still in it's hand. "Here dad." said Clark, handing the dog over. He ran over to see who the figure was.

It was Lex.

Clark grabbed Lex by the collar of his shirt and pressed him up against the building. "Are you insane?" asked Clark.

"My father seems to think so." said Lex, and jerked himself away from Clark.

"Lex, I'm sorry that you're hurt that I didn't tell you. But look how you're acting right now! You know my secret and you are following my family, tried to kill me and my dog!" said Clark.

"You were the closest thing I had to a real friend." retorted Lex, "Now I find out that my best friend has lied to me during our whole friendship." said Lex. "So yeah, you could say I'm a bit offended."

Clark grabbed his collar again. "If you don't stop trying to hurt me or any of the people I care about, I swear to you Lex, I will make you wish you had never come to Smallville."

"You shouldn't make threats Clark. They don't suit you." said Lex defiantly.

Clark stepped closer to him. "Come near me again, and they will be more than threats."

"Don't you care about me Clark?" said Lex, as Clark was storming away.

"What?" asked Clark, turning around.

"You and the one's you care about are going into hiding because it's dangerous." said Lex, walking towards Clark. "Why didn't you ask me to go with you?"

"You were the one we were running from." retorted Clark, who turned around and continued to walk away.

Lex's mansion, Lex is pacing the room, Lionel walks in with 2 men in black suits. Lex stops pacing and looks from the 2 men to his father.

"Come to take me in?" he asks.

"You're sick Lex, you need professional help." said Lionel.

Lex nods. "You would say that, wouldn't you." he walks over to his desk. "When in all actuality, you plan on investigating my ramblings." he opens a drawer to his desk and reaches inside.

"Lex, you are hallucinating. Let these gentlemen take you to Bel-"

Lex pulled out a handgun and shot the two men on either side of Lionel. They collapse. "What gentlemen?" asks Lex, pointing the gun at his father.

Outside the Hotel. Clark, Lana, and Chloe are looking at the busted window sheild.

"Did your mom and dad find out if Shelby was going to be okay?" asks Lana.

Clark shook his head, still gazing at the windowshield. "The vet hasn't even seen them yet."

"What are we going to do Clark? Not to go all dramatic on you, but Lex knows we're running. What if he follows us?" asks Chloe.

Clark turns to look at the two girls. "I don't have all the answers. All I know is what I'm hoping for."

"I don't want to put any more weight on your shoulders Clark...but wherever we go...Lex can run files to find what we bought and where. I'm starting to think that No where is safe." said Chloe.

"Chloe, Lex doesn't know my weakness. As long as he doesn't figure it out, I can protect you. All of you." said Clark. "As long as he doesn't find out about the kryptonite."

"And if he does?" asks Lana.

Clark looks at his shoes, and turns away from them.

"Then we'll just have to hope he doesn't find out." said Johnathon, who was walking up behind them with Shelby in his arms. Martha was close behind him.

"Thier right dad. No matter where we go, it isn't going to be safe." said Clark.

"Then what do you suggest we do Clark? Go back to Smallville?" said Johnathon.

"No." says Clark. He is silent a moment, then looks between his mom and dad. "I think we need to split up."

"I'm going with super-boy." said Chloe, coming to stand behind Clark.

"I think it would be safer for Lana to go with you too Clark." said Martha.

Lana went to stand behind Clark. Clark walked over to his parents. Martha and Clark hug tightly.

"Please be careful." said Martha, eyes tearing up.

"I will mom, I promise." said Clark. Clark pulled away from his mother and went to stand in front of Johnathon.

"If we do this, you promise me that you'll take care of each other." said Johnathon. Clark slowly nods. Johnathon pulls him into a hug. "I'll see you soon son." he said, pulling away, tears also in his eyes.

Clark looks at his parents a final time, and turns away.

Let me give you a summary of the clip. It shows the alarm clock click to 6:30. The song "Just Breath" comes on. Clark turns over in the bed to face Lana. Lana opens her eyes and smiles at him. He smiles back. "Hi." says Lana. "Hi." says Clark. "This is the best nights sleep i've had in weeks." says Lana. They smile at each other until they here the alarm clock say it's 6:30 a.m.

"oh god." says clark.

"oh my god." says Lana. They scramble out of bed.

"How did we fall asleep?" asks Clark.

"I told you we should have gone to the Talon!" says Lana, covering herself up with the blanket. You see her bare back, she turns and puts on Clark's flannel shirt.

"Geez, but- OW!" yelps Clark, who stubs his toe. He grabs a pair of black sweats.

"Shh!" says Lana

"SHHHHH---That hurts so much." says Clark. " and puts on the pants. "My dad's not going to be up for another 15 minutes. And we gotta get out of here." He looks at Lana. "We have to get YOU out of here."

"Are you sure because staying for breakfast sounds fun." says Lana sarcastically.

"What?" asks Clark and looks at her, she smiles and leans down to pick up her purse.

She walks over to Clark, who picked up a shirt. "Can you pass me my shoe?" she asks Clark, he does it. "We won't fall asleep, I promise." says Lana, who is mimicking Clark. "What else are we supposed to do 2 o'clock in the morning?"

Clark puts on his shirt and leans down to her. "You're not mad are you?" asks Clark, concern clearly on his face.

"I'm furious." says Lana jokingly, Clark leans in and they kiss.

"C'mon." he tells Lana and they walk out of Clark's bedroom.

They try to be sneaky about it, but it does them no good. Because Johnathon and Martha are both sitting in the kitchen. And that's the end of the spoiler. Well, at least the end of the clana part, the next part is Lex and Lana.

Clark, Chloe, and Lana had already left. Clark had insisted on letting his parents take the truck, the others could take a taxi until they got where they were going. Martha is sitting in the truck, her face in her hands, tears rolling down her face. Johnathon walks out of the hotel, putting a peice of paper in his back pocket. He walks to the truck.

"Well, the hotel is paid for now we just have to-" he noticed his wife crying. He steps closer to her and puts an arm around her. "Martha, we will see our son again." he said, gently.

"How can you be certain Johnathon? People want him killed!" exclaimed Martha.

Johnathon put his finger under Martha's chin, and drew her face up to look at him. He used his other hand to wipe away her tears. "If there is one thing that I know about our son." said Johnathon, leaning in and kissing his wife on the forehead. "It's that he always comes back to us."

Martha smiled at him. "You're right. Clark has to take care of himself now."

"Among others, as I've heard." said a voice behind them. They turned to see Lex standing there.

Johnathon staightened up and looked Lex in the eye. "What exactly is it that you want Lex?"

"I want your son." said Lex.

"He's been nothing but a friend to you Lex!" said Martha.

"A friend who lies to my face everyday." says Lex, he looked at the two of them and smiled. "How about a trade?" said Lex, walking around the corner of the hotel and dragging a long bag back to the truck.

"Is that a body bag?" asked Martha, horrified.

"Great observation Mrs. Kent." said Lex.

"Who is that Lex?" said Johnathon.

Lex smiled. "My father."

"There's a perfectly logical explaination for it." said Lex, continuing to smile.

"I got tired of bieng weighed down." said Lex, his smile got wider when he saw the confused look on the Kent's faces. "I always wanted to prove myself to people. I wanted them to know that I wanted to be NOTHING like my father." said Lex, looking down at the body bag. "But then I realized. I am my father's son. Why fight it? In fact...why let that sack of scum weigh me down?"

"Lex-" started Johnathon.

"Next thing I knew I held a gun in my hands and my father was laying lifeless at my feet." Lex looked at the Kents for a long moment.

"Lex, I know you, you're not a killer-" said Martha.

"Yes, Mrs. Kent, I think I am. I tried to hide my true nature, but, this is the way it's got to be." He looked again at the body bag. "Maybe I am crazy."

In the middle of no where, Clark, Lana, and Chloe are walking down a deserted road.

"Okay, remind me again why we got out of the taxi?" said Chloe.

"We can't stay in one vehicle for long. We have to keep moving." said Clark.

"You realize that walking isn't faster right?" asked Chloe.

"It's safer." says Clark, and continues to walk.

"Any idea where we're going?" asks Lana.

"We cross the state line in a couple of hours." says Clark.

"Wait, rewind...hours?!?" asks Chloe. Clark looks over to her and nods. "My feet are about to give out as it is, I can't walk for hours!"

"My feet are getting tired too Clark." says Lana.

Clark sighed and looked around. There was an old abandoned trailer on the side of the road. It looked as if it had fallen off a truck. " I have an idea." says Clark. "C'mon." He motions for the girls to follow to the other side of the road.

"Okay, why are we looking at something that unloads trash?" asks Chloe.

"I have a plan." says Clark.

The girls get in the trailer, and Clark super-speeds them down the road. They stop at the state line.

"Great, from one hick state to another." says Chloe under her breath.

A sign on the side of the road reads: "Welcome to Oklahoma."

Lex's mansion. Johnathon and Martha are tied to chairs in Lex's mansion. Lex was standing in front of them.

"Don't get me wrong," said Lex. "You're nice people, and I looked on you like my own parents. But there is one thing more important than family." Lex was silent a moment. "Money."

"Money is more important to you than loved ones?" asked Martha.

"I wouldn't know Mrs. Kent, i've never had anyone love me." said Lex. "So I'm going to have to settle with the next best thing. And you're son, is going to get it for me."

"How? He doesn't even know that you have us." said Johnathon.

"When my people finally track him down, he'll soon find out." said Lex.

"And until then?" asked Johnathon.

"Looks like you're my guests." said Lex, and walked out of the room.

"Johnathon what are we going to do?" asked Martha.

"There's nothing we CAN do sweetheart." said Johnathon. "We can only hope that Clark gets as far away as possible."

"This place is pretty." says Lana, looking over the land. "Sort of reminds me of home."

"But without the weirdness....I know." said Chloe, also looking around.

Clark stayed silent, he watched the sun setting. The girls looked at him with concern.

"What is it Clark?" asked Lana.

"I'm worried." said Clark.

"Don't worry, I'm sure your parents got out of there." said Chloe.

"Last time you said that to me, Lana got pulled up into a tornado." said Clark.

Lana looked at him in shock. "So it WAS you? I knew it!" she exclaimed.

When the sun was hid behind trees, Clark sighed. "let's find you guys a place to stay." said Clark.

"What do you mean us guys?" said Chloe.

"What about you?" asked Lana.

"I'm going back for my parents."

"He'll come back for you, y'know." said Lex, making himself a glass of scotch. "It's this hero complex he has. He's always saving people."

"That's because Clark doesn't like to see people get hurt." said Johnathon.

"See, that's where you're wrong." said Lex. "If he didn't like for anyone to get hurt, he would have told me the truth a long time ago."

"And how would you have reacted Lex? The same way you are now?" asked Johnathon.

"What's in the past is the past. Makes no difference if I would have reacted differently or not. The only thing we need to worry about, is now." said Lex. "He'll come. You know it...don't you Mrs. Kent?" asked Lex.

Martha looked at the ground.

"Told you." said Lex. "Now, my only dilema, is not knowing his weakness. And that's where you two come in."

"We'll never tell you anything." said Johnathon.

"I didn't figure YOU would even if I was trying to beat it out of you. But.." Lex fake gasps. "What about our dear Mrs. Kent, if she experiences pain, I wonder who will be the first to crack. Mrs. Kent, who will be feeling every bit of it. Or you Mr. Kent, having to watch your wife suffer."

"If you touch her Lex, I swear I'll-"

"You'll what? There's not alot you CAN do is there?" asked Lex.

"But there is plenty of things that I can." said a voice behind them. Lex turned to see Clark standing in the doorway.

"So what triggered this outburst Lex? Jealousy that other people knew and you didn't?" asked Clark.

"That's part of the reason yes. And then there's the part where I thought of us as brothers and you thought you couldn't trust me." said Lex.

Clark looked at him skeptically. "Could I?"

Lex shook his head. "Probably not...but it's the moral of the thing."

Clark took a couple of steps towards his parents.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." said Lex.

"I'm letting them go." said Clark, reaching for Johnathons ropes.

"CLARK NO!" yelled Johnathon. Clark stopped in his tracks. "He's tied us with fuses to a bomb. One wrong move and this whole place gets blown to bits."

"Lex, why would you risk your own life to hold my parents hostage?"

"Nothing to live for, might as well live life on the edge." said Lex.

Clark looked at him with anger. "Fine." He super-sped to Lex and slammed him against the wall. Lex fell to the floor unconscious. "Okay." said Clark, looking around the room. "Anyone know how to de-fuse bombs, without them going off?" asked Clark.

"This looks like my kind of job." said Chloe, coming in the door way.

"Chloe, what are you doing here?" asked Clark.

"We couldn't just stay there." said Lana, also walking in.

"I left you there for your safety." said Clark, coming to hug Lana.

Lana looked up from their hug. "Clark, as many times as you've saved our lives, it's only fair the we return the favor once in a while."

Clark smiled at them and Chloe set to work.

"What should we do with him?" asked Clark.

"He'll never stay in Belle Reve. Not as long as he can buy his way out." said Chloe.

"Then what do we do?" asked Lana.

"There's not a lot we CAN do." said Martha.

Clark sat there a moment and then looked up in realization.

"What is it Clark?" asked Johnathon.

"I know what we can do." said Clark.

"Are you going to let us in, or should we start guessing?" asked Chloe.

"Take him to the only place where they can get rid of memorys." said Clark.

"Where's that?" asked Lana.

"Summerholt." said Clark.

The truck pulled into the Summerholt parking lot. Everyone got out of the truck. Clark pulled Lex's unconscious body out of the truck and onto his shoulders.

"Clark, I don't want you to go in there." said Lana.

"She's right son, it's dangerous." said Johnathon.

"I don't want to go in there either, but i'm the only one that can move fast enough to not get caught." said Clark.

Johnathon sighed. "Okay. But if you're not back out here in 10 minutes, I'm coming in after you."

Clark smiled. "Okay."

"Remember Clark." Johnathon pointed to his watch. "10 minutes."

Clark nodded to him and headed into the building. While the others sat in the truck and waited, Lana watched Clark, worry on her face.

Clark entered the building and looked around. Absolutely no security guards in sight. Clark looked at the secretary sitting at the desk. She was too involved in her phone conversation to notice that he had just walked in. Clark sped down the hallway and into the room that he had been experimented on. He saw the tank full of the kryptonian liquid and winced. 'This is gonna hurt.' he thought.

He hestitantly walked towards the tank and quickly dropped Lex in it.

"What's happening?" asked the suddenly awake Lex. "What are you doing?"

Clark ignored his questions and stumbled away from the tank. He didn't have the time or strength to put the attachments on Lex. He walked over to the switch to turn on the shock treatment.

"No, Clark, don't do this to me. Not again!" yelled Lex.

Clark flipped the switch.

Lex's eyes flew open. He was still twitching from the shock treatment he had just recieved. He saw Clark watching him from across the room.

"Clark, what-?"

*Flashback.*

"I think I hit you at 60 mph."

"If you're my friend, tell me the truth."

*Present.*

Lex opened his eyes again and laughed. "You're trying to cover up your secret aren't you Clark?"

Clark sighed and looked to the ground. "Lex, you've lost your mind. You killed your own father!"

"The old man deserved it. You can't keep me here Clark, you don't have it in y-" the switch was flipped again. Clark only had it turned back on a second, when Lex stopped fidgeting. Clark quickly turned it off and watched Lex. Lex was still, unmoving. Clark was afraid he'd just killed him.

Lex sat up quickly and stared intently at Clark, then his eyes turned blank and he passed out.

Clark rushed over to the tank and pulled Lex out. He put Lex on the floor and began clutching at his stomach, the liquid becoming too much for him. He fell to the floor. He saw a pair of feet walking towards him when everything turned black.

Clark woke up in pain. He was in the same tank he had just pulled Lex out of. 'Not again.' he thought to himself. He looked over and saw Lex still unconsious on the floor. He looked towards the switch and noticed 3 men that he didn't recognize. One of the men Clark didn't recognize stepped forward to look down on him.

"Looks painful." he said.

"What do you want with me?" asked Clark, gasping for breath.

"We've been working with Lex for some time now. He's convinced you're.....different. It's time we find out." said the man.

"Why?" asked Clark, his eyes shutting in pain.

"Lex spends alot of money on me." said the man. "On all of us. We're not going to get anymore funding if we don't do our jobs."

"All of you? Whose all of you?" asked Clark, trying to ignore the blinding pain.

"Everyone one from level 33.1."

There was a shot gun cocked across the room. "Let go of my son." said Johnathon, with the 3 girls behind him.

The 3 men looked at Johnathon apprehensely.

"And if we don't?" asked one of them.

Johnathon pointed the shot gun at them. "Then things around here won't be pretty."

Lana ran over to the tank. "Oh my god, Clark! What have they done to you?" She reached into the tank to undo all the fastenings on Clark.

Lex began to wake up. He got up to his hands and knees and shook his head. "What happened?"

Chloe walked over to Lex and helped him to his feet. "What's the last thing you remember?" she asked him.

"Uh...." said Lex. "I don't remember anything."

"Anything?" asked Chloe.

"Who are you? Where am I?" Lex looked around. "Wait...WHO AM I?"

Chloe sighed and looked at Martha. "And I thought this day was just getting easier."

Lana finished undoing the fastenings on Clark. The 3 men watched her menacingly. Together, Clark and Lana managed to pull him out. Clark collapsed to the floor, Lana leaned over him and stroked the hair out of his face. "Are you okay?" she asked him.

Clark was breathing heavily. "I'll live." Lana helped Clark up, she put his arm around her shoulders.

"Lana, get him out of here." said Johnathon, still looking at the men.

Lana led Clark out, while Martha and Chloe led Lex out. Outside the door Lana reached out and put a hand on his face. "Are you sure your okay?"

"Yeah." said Clark, looking at her.

They looked at each other lovingly for a minute. When Johnathon was slowly backing out of the door. "I don't want any trouble. We're just taking my son and being on our way. Your boss doesn't know who he is, so there is no reason to pursue what you are doing."

"This isn't over." said one of the men, as Johnathon and the others ran out of the building.

They got to the truck. Martha jumped in the drivers seat, Johnathon, Lex and Chloe jumped in the cab, while Lana held Clark's head in her lap inside the truck. She stroked his head while they sped away.

Kent Farm. Lana and Clark are in the loft, sitting on the couch. Lana had her hands on Clark's face, tears in her eyes.

"I was afraid I was going to lose you." she whispered to him.

"Your not." said Clark, putting his hands on hers. "I'm still here."

"You are." she said, and leaned in and kissed him.

"Knock, Knock." said Chloe coming up the stairs.

Clark and Lana leaned back to look at Chloe.

"Hey Chloe." said Clark.

"Feeling better?" asked Chloe.

"Yeah, thanks." said Clark.

"So what are we going to do with Lex?" asked Chloe.

Lana looked back over at Clark. "Yeah, I was wondering the same thing."

"Well...with his memory loss, he doesn't know my secret anymore. My dad is dropping him off at the mansion." said Clark.

"Clark, he killed his dad. He tried to kill us, how do we just go back from that?" asked Chloe.

"We have to Chloe. We can't afford for him to be suspicious again." said Clark.

"But he doesn't have anyone there to tell him what's going on. No one to tell him who he is, who his friends are." said Lana.

"This is a why for Lex to have a clean slate." said Clark, standing up. "I'm almost envious of him."

"Clark, you don't need a clean slate." said Chloe, taking a few steps towards him. "You have a family, and friends that love you."

Clark smiled at her, then looked down at Lana and smiled again. "You're right. Life isn't so bad after all."

The mansion. Lex is in his office, looking around with confusion.

"What's the matter Lex?"

Lex turned around to the person who just spoke.

"I think I'm lost." said Lex.

"You're not lost, we just have to start over." said the person.

"Who are you?" asked Lex.

"Why Lex....I'm your father."

Lex looked up into the face of Lionel Luthor.

"Yes. You went through quite an ordeal recently." said Lionel, putting an arm around Lex. "You injured two of my body guards and threatened to kill me. Then you went into some sort of catatomic state and filled a duffel bag with pillows, convinced that you were stuffing my body into it."

"Why would I do that?" asked Lex.

Lionel sighed and tightened his grip on his son. "You were stranded on an island a few years back. You were out there so long you caught malaria, and your mind has worked the same since."

"Your saying that I was crazy?" asked Lex.

Lionel chuckled. "Not crazy, you were ill. But we thought we had fixed that."

"What did we do to think that we had fixed it?" asked Lex.

"The treatment you were given earlier today, was the same treatment you were given those years ago. But this time it was much more severe to your mind." said Lionel. "It's a miracle that you're not a standing vegetable."

Lex looked up at him. "How do I know about Clark Kent?"

Chloe, Lana and Clark were talking in the loft when Johnathon walked up the stairs.

"Clark." he said.

Clark turned around. "What is it dad?" he asked, a smile on his face.

"C'mon son, we left some chores undone in our rush to get out of here." said Johnathon.

"Coming dad." he said and turned to the girls. "This will only take a sec." he told them, and walked down the steps.

"Looks like we've lost Clark for a while." said Lana.

Chloe smiled at her. "You've never seen Clark in action have you?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Clark can have his chores done in 30 seconds." said Chloe.

As if on cue, Clark walked back up the stairs, rubbing his hands together. "Now what?" he asked.

"We're not sure what he is." said Lionel.

Lex looked up at his father. "What do you mean?"

"Well, it's just that his name pops up in alot of police cases." said Lionel.

"Like I said, he just seems like a hero." said Lex.

Lionel grunted. "Yes, a very extraordinary hero."

Lex looked at him with confusion. "Was I investigating him, before my memory loss?"

"Well, then it's a good thing that I lost my memory isn't it?" said Lex.

"I don't think I understand your meaning son." said Lionel.

"Why would I risk losing a friend like that? I mean, if it weren't for him I would be long dead."

The Talon, Clark, Lana, and Chloe are gathered around a table.

"So Clark, what's your biggest regret now?" asked Lana.

"Having to wipe out my best friend's memory in order for my family and friends to feel safe." said Clark, looking down at his coffee cup.

Chloe gave him a look of sympathy and Lana took his hand.

"Hey." said Lana. "It's going to be okay." Clark smiled at her in appreiciation. At that moment Lex walked in. Clark saw him and stood up, Lex walked over to them.

"Hello Clark." said Lex.

"Hey Lex...are you okay?" asked Clark.

"Yeah. I'm great." said Lex. "Although, I should warn you, I found this place by some sort of hidden memory."

Lana and Chloe looked at each other in fear.

"I think it's called routine." said Lex with a smile.

Clark gave a sigh of relief. "So, how are you holding up?"

"I'm doing okay, my father came by and filled me in on some things." said Lex.

"Your FATHER?" asked Clark, shocked. "Lex.."

"No, it's okay. I know. Apparently I had another psychotic break. I stuffed a bag full of pillows and convinced myself it was my father." said Lex.

Clark looked back at the two girls. His parents never said that they had actually SAW Lionel's body. Just the bag.

Kent Farm. Martha and Johnathon are talking in the kitchen when the phone rings. Martha picks it up.

"Hello?" she asked. Their is silence a moment. "Are you sure?" another moment of silence. "Okay...bye sweetheart." Martha turned off the phone and looked at the floor shocked.

Johnathon noticed his wife. "What is it honey?"

Martha looked up at him, still in shock. "Lionel Luthor is alive."

Talon. Lex and Clark were at the counter talking. Chloe and Lana were still at their original table, watching the two men.

"Do you think we can trust him?" Lana asked Chloe.

"I've come to realize that when you come to the point where you actually trust a Luthor, they stab you in the back." said Chloe. "But this time things might be different."

Lana shook her head. "I want to believe that, but we've been down this road too many times."

"I know it's going to take time to earn back your trust." said Lex. "But please believe me when I tell you that I am a changed man."

Clark gave a nervous chuckle. "I want to believe you Lex, but you come up with this ridiculous theories about me all the time."

"When my father told me of all the things you've done for me, I asked myself, 'Why would I risk losing a friendship that has saved my life countless times?' I know now that I don't want to." said Lex.

Clark still looked at him in disbelieve. Lex patted him on the shoulder. "It's okay if you don't believe me. I'm willing to try to earn your trust back with time."

LAST CHAPTER!!!

With Lex's memory gone and Clark seemingly in the clear, things went back to normal in Smallville. With one exception.

Lana knew Clark's secret.

Their days were filled with happiness and openess now that everyone but Lex knew his secret. Clark knew now that he could NEVER tell Lex his secret, no matter how much he began to trust him again.

One day, Clark kissed Lana goodbye in the Talon and walked outside. He met Lex, who was on his way into the Talon.

"Hey, Clark!." said Lex, walking onto the side walk and over to Clark, who had only taken a few steps away from the Talon's front doors.

"Hey Lex, what's up?" asked Clark.

"Nothing much, I feel oddly refreshed this morning. Like nothing can go wrong. You ever feel like that?" asked Lex.

"Nope, can't say I ever have." said Clark.

"Well, that's too b-" their was a screech in the street. Clark and Lex looked over and saw a car, that looked to be out of control speeding towards them. Clark pushed Lex out of the way of the car, and the car hit a lightpost, Clark was too busy making sure the driver of the car was okay to notice that the light post had come loose and was falling over. Lex looked up one second to late and was knocked over the head. Clark rushed over to the unconscious Lex.

"Lex." Clark shook him. "Lex, are you okay?"

Lex grabbed his aching head and looked around? "What happened?"

Clark looked at him, desperate. "PLEASE tell me you remember SOMETHING."

Lex slowly stood up and wiped the dirt off of his clothes. "I do." when Clark looked at him, expecting more, Lex smiled. "My name is Lex Luthor. And I AM the villian of this story."

THE END.
