MAY CONTAIN SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE PREMIER!!!

I didn't see this anywhere else in the threads, but does anyone else question why Brainiac bubbled up out of a black oily mess from the floor? I don't get that. Am I missing something? I loved this episode. The only complaint I have is that it wasn't long enough. It seemed as though the fight scene between the Kryptonians was rushed and kinda to easy for Clark to defeat them. Other then that, I loved the whole thing!!! I can't wait for next week!

Maybe Brainiacs original form is that of the black ooze, or that is the form he used to hitchhike on the spaceship until it landed on earth, where he assumed a form that would allow him to move around undetected.

To me it looked that as it took on the human shape, the forming oil substance looked to be taking on the look of a 'black FOS', so to speak. It looked like black crystals sprouting up from the oil-substance - before taking Marster's shape.

Maybe it just looked that way to me and was actually something else altogether.

Brainiac is a software program for all intents and purposes. One could suppose that in this retelling of the story, Kryptonian software can be stored in crystals that can manipulate themselves into a liquid like form.

I know. For a second there I thought the channel switched to an X-file ep and I'm thinkin' ok, black oil, transgenic infection and alien-human hybrids.

idk the answer, maybe it's a characteristic of his? i don't really even know who "Braniac" is outside of him also being a kryptonsite poster. sorry.

*yaaawn... wow, its 3am! gtg2 bed*

g'nite!

Yeah, it did look like a black FOS forming there for a moment and then suddenly turned into a human figure.

And the software thing is a good idea. You could be right. Kryptons wouldn't have floppies for software but could have transmutating crystals. Good thoughts on that... I didn't think of that.

Either way, James Marsters should be a good addition to the show. Im so excited. I was a huge Buffy fan so its good to see him back on the screen. I can't wait for a scene between him and Lex. Two brains go head to head so to speak! haha

brainiac isn't a software program he is the mind of a dead scientist that possesses milton fine. He's also not Kryptonian.

well, thats one version of Brainiac... and only a recent one. (like last 2 years.) (Ok, wait, cant say that officially... officially I can say for sure... that wasnt the case before 1996)

But since this one oozed off a ship containing Kryptonians.... I'm leaning more toward an older version of the ol' chap.

Brainiac is AI and in this season, I am sure they will say he is part of the ship. And from that ship comes the liquid form of Milton Fine.

He isn't a program, he isn't a system, he is pure AI.

The ship is shaped like the Kryptonian Crystal Lana killed Gwienive and I can't spell her name for crap, but eithe way, that is the corruption that comes from that.

I like how he come from the ship.

I thought that Braniac had something to do with the kryptonian artifacts revolving in Lionel's eyes?

If you re-watch the scene, Braniac's liquid form drips from the point of the ship in the same fashion blood would drip from the tip of the stone Lana used to kill Genevieve. Symbolism?
