I thought the way they introduced him was awesome. At first I was like "Wtf is that?"

That was one of the coolest intros. I had no idea what the oil trail of some kind was until I saw it form into the shape.

The crystal-esque forming was fantastic.

mmmm spike.... without his shirt on.....

<drool>

ooopps, sorry, buffy flashback

yeah, i'm totally pumped about braniac's entrance :) but if there's ever a scene with clark, lex, and spike, er braniac..... maybe a wrestling match, with an oil of some type (random buffy quasi-quote. i couldn't resist).... mmm.... yeah... i'll have to invest in a drool bib.

I can't wait for James to challange Lex. I would love to see a scene where Lex is quoting some famous person and James (Brainiac, Prof. Fine) corrects him. That would be so hilarious.

OMG, that scene was so T2 like . Brainiac didn't even speak, and already I'm very impressed by his "Arrival" .

Yeah for sure, and Marsters had that perfect Brainiac look on his face when he turned around you could see he had a billion ideas already going through his head just planning everything out already smirking at the humans as his pupets now that he has arrived.

At first, I was thinking "What the hell is up with the X-Files revisit here?" But then when it formed into Brainiac, it was all good.

At first I was upset that the ship was leaking oil because kryptonian technology shouldn't run on fossil fuels. Then I realized that something was going on when the camera focussed on the oil in question.

that was fantastic, a perfect song with a perfect ending.

That was a great entrance for his character.

I am really excited about this casting because he did such a great job on Buffy.

James Marster's being in the show this year and as a big villain lets me know Smallville will do good this year.

he will be good in smallville and its cool when he forms. i always thought he was going to just appear out of the ship and not transform. i wonder if nam ek and ayther new that brainiac was in there.

Originally posted by vyperman7 "X-Files revisit here?" I totally thought of X-Files when I saw the black oil. It was the best introduction of a new Character that I could ever think of. Spike has a huge following so this is a great idea on the powers that be's part.

I thought it was awesome seeing the liquid form into James. Great intro for him!

His introduction was very good. I was very excited when I saw his name listed as a Special Guest star in the opening credits so throughout the entire episode I was wandering when he'd finally show up. I even thought for a second that it was Brainiac who whould appear by Chloe's bed at the hospital when I saw that shadow come over her :)
The final scene of this episode reminded me very much of the final scene of the 5th season premiere on Angel, where James Marsters makes a similair unusual appearance. (I half expected Angel to say "Spike!", and then Harmony popping her head around the door saying "Blondie Bear?", haha  )

Yes it was very much so like the X-Files :D I liked how it kind of looked like black crystals

I'm really looking forward to this. It's pretty much the first time that one of Superman's enemies from the comics is being intro'd to the show (besides Lex). True there was Mxyzptlk, but that wasn't really the true Mxyzptlk.

BTW, being that I never watched the Superman show nor read the comics; can anyone tell me what abilities Braniac has? He has to have some way of standing up to Clark.

I dunno much about Brainiac myself but I tried to explain it to my mom as best I can when we watched that scene.

Basically he's an alien symbiote bent on destruction while at the same time collecting and gathering information from the planets as he destroys. He was infact responsible for the destruction of Krypton.

Ummm .. is this whole thread a spoiler or am I crazy? When did they mention in "Arrival" that he was Brainaic or is this just speculation?
If it's a spoiler, I'm kinda bummed out as I specifically avoid the spoiler forum for just this reason.

Well a spoiler would be a guess, this is not.

Well if you go to TV.com and read about that episode, you can see Marsters is listed as Brainiac. I don't think that's specifically a spoiler. I thought he would have been Zod, since Zod was alluded to earlier in the show. But Kryptonians don't have such an ability to reform from black goo. I was pretty clueless, too, which is why I consulted TV.com's information about that episode.
