GRRR!!! This is SO stressful.. it's like when we had to wait forever for Chloe to learn CK's secret. I can't wait until he gets his abilities back.

so, he lost them because he broke his promise to Jor-El?

That's what I'm thinking. That, or he lost his powers when he was half-way into that warp thing.

Well, at least it won't last too long, right? ;)

Man, that was the worst thing about this ep. Everything else was grade A, but I just don't like the whole losing his powers thing. And Clark's been without them temporarily before, why does he choose now to think he doesn't need them permanently anymore?
Yeah, it looks like Jor-El took them away because he didn't fulfill his promise to come back. However, it looks like Clark *thinks* Jor-El took them because he defeated the "enemy". At least, what Clark *thought* was the enemy.

Jor-el did this on purpose. He probably wanted to test Clark. Maybe by completing certain task using his mind not his powers. So far Clark has used his powers to solve his problems and save others, but not his mind.
Jor-el probably doesnt know how strong Clark is. He asked him to come back before the Sunset because he knew clark was going to lose his powers afterward and would be in danger or getting hurt by something or someone.
Clark was learning about Kryptone and giving him the knowledge that he needs to use his powers better and use his mind more than his powers, the lesson here is the greatest power he had is his mind.

so he lost his powers, its happened before and its not going to last very long, so no need to fret about it, Clarkie will have to go back to Jor-El in the fortress of solitude to get them back, but it will happen, no real SV without Superboy

i've learned if smallville gives us an explanation, that's it. so clark said jor-el took his powers, i believe it. al gough and miles millar needed to do this so that clark could sleep with lana next episode without blowing a hole through her. they're sick. why couldn't lana try catching a meteor....haha, well she did get owned by the kryptonians, that was awesome

Did you notice that Jor-El paused before he said "Very well..." to letting him save Chloe.
It's only a test. Had it been an actual emergency, his powers would still be here. :P

clark knew he lost his powers when the sun set and he hadn't returned to the FOS. after the sun set, he took a chard of glass out of lana's hair and cut himself...it was then that he knew they were gone, that this was what jor-el was talking about when he said that clark would suffer grave consequences...
and yeah, so clark gets his powers back soon...
and yeah, SV wouldn't be that great without superpowers :)

sorry but you can't post spoilers in the general forums, that's clearly stated the forum rules. There's a spoiler section in here. This is only the episode discussion.
Clark didnt follow what Jor-El told him, the sun had set and he messed up, but again he will of course get them back.

BUT how did Jor El take his powers? I guess that will never be explained. We are supposed to take for granted that Jor-El can just take powers away. If that is the case he should have taken away the powers of the 2 bad kryptonians then there wouldn't have been any threat at all.

he's a father, just like how your father can take your car keys away.

Yeah but Jor-El didn't give him his powers either.. they are part of his anatomy when exposed to the yellow sun. unless when clark was in the FOS Jor-el took away his ability to retain the suns energy somehow, so he had to be in direct sunlight to have powers, which is why when the sun went down he lost his powers. But if that was the case when the sun came back up he'd get them back. HHHMMMM.. interesting!

I think they tried to follow the film a little, since Clark lost his powers in the film with Zod and his group in Superman II.

He took his powers when the light hit him. Remember that he told him that the FOS is his home so that would mean that he probably wouldnt have any powers. Jor El took them but it probably didnt go away. Remember his body is like a battery so it would have taken a while for his powers to go away.

He lost his powers in the movie by being exposed to the rays of the red kryptonian sun. They didn't just evaporate. B ut I think knight3131 has a good point. Maybe he took them away to begin with at the FOS, and he had enough reserves to last until the sun went down. Interesting point.

You ever think if Clark disobeyed Jor el at the End of season 2 he would've just lost his powers? That means he blew up his storm cellar for nothing.
